Teaching internship & TEFL Certification (Thailand, Vietnam, Europe, China, India)

Had an amazing time in Shenzhen, China, teaching English to both adults and kids.
Although my dates were difficult to manage and did not allow for a lot of flexibility, Gotoco still managed to find me a program and made sure I had plenty to do to fulfill my TEFL hours. I taught adult classes in the Meten English camps a few hours on weekdays and fulltime on the weekends, and volunteered at a kindergarten the rest of my working hours.
Gotoco also partnered me up with a host family, which was so valuable in terms of my language learning and culture experience.
Overall, the program was incredible in terms of how much it has taught me and how much I have benefitted from it. Teaching English in a place like China is such an interesting and valuable experience, and what Gotoco offers is at once professional and affordable which is quite rare to find.

My volunteering experience in China was one of the best summers I have ever had. I was based in Yunnan, in an adventure summer camp, where I taught English and supervised activities. The Gotoco staff and the staff from Keystone Adventures were so friendly and helpful. My trip to Yangshuo, which Gotoco kindly provides free accommodation, was brilliant and I met so many other interesting and amazing volunteers.

The chance to not only visit China but meet regular Chinese people and live like a local is a once in a lifetime opportunity and something that should not be missed out. Because of this unique experience, visiting China through the Gotoco programme is arguably more exciting than visiting simply as a tourist. Furthermore, the experience improves old and gives unique new skills to participants. Increased cultural intelligence, interpersonal communication and child education skills are just some examples. The TEFL certificate is another appealing aspect of the programme.

Had the best 6 weeks teaching in Yangshuo - met some great people who are all likeminded and all up for a challenge, beautiful place to be and learnt a lot about myself due to being pushed in at the deep end and expected to teach. Yes, a fair amount is expected of you but for people who love a challenge and experiencing new cultures and travel I would highly recommend; also an easy way of seeing some of China! If you want to try something completely different and something that will make you stand out on your CV then apply!!!

Yeah I had a good time in China. I met lots of interesting people and had an experience I could not have had otherwise in my life. The food was nice and the alcohol was cheap. I must warn you that there is quite a big language barrier and that that can cause some problems. Teaching is great fun and a useful experience. I travelled with a friend which definitely made it more enjoyable. Thank you gotoco.

Gotoco placed me with a summer camp in Beijing where I was able to explore the city and work with 4-7 year old children. My stay and food were covered by the program, without me having to pay any fees. I worked for four weeks at IDEAS camp Beijing, where I had been placed by Gotoco. The workdays there were long, and the commute to the school took over an hour, but the work was also sometimes very rewarding. The biggest challenge was probably that not everyone at the actual camp could or wanted to speak English, however the staff at Gotoco all did and were incredibly friendly and helpful. Altogether, Gotoco allowed me to spend a whole month in China and helped me with the visa application process and provided support throughout.

Although the work could be full-on at times, being around fabulous people in a completely new country made it all worthwhile. I would definitely recommend the experience.
