14 Day Northern Thailand Tour

I'm writing this review on my last evening in Thailand. The tour has been incredible and more than I expected. The range of activities provided was fab, especially the elephants (one of the reasons I did this tour). I loved staying at the hill tribe and seeing how self efficient they are, the grand canyon on my last day was such good fun, zip lining through the jungle was great giving some amazing views and banter with the guides. Also tried some different activities like the temples and bike riding which again had great views.
Our tour guide, Art, was great fun with lots of banter. He had lots of knowledge on the activities, and the areas we stayed. He went beyond the tour and took us on nights out which were a good laugh and experiencing the Thai nightlife. Couldn't fault Art as a tour guide, very friendly and fun.
Overall, had a fantastic time and would recommend it to backpackers who wish to experience different activities.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
How self efficient the hill tribe were. Everything was built by the tribe, there was no electricity or internet. It was lovely sitting on the evening by candle light, sharing great banter and good food. The chief and family were very welcoming, had a great time.

14 Day Northern Thailand Adventure

What an adventure!!!!
This has truly been an amazing experience and I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes an adventure.
There are a lot of activities to do but you also get a lot of free time, whether that be to top up your tan by the pool or to wonder round the town and do some shopping and try new foods.
The jungle trek up to the hill tribe was exhausting but totally worth it. It was one of my favourite experiences, so beautiful.
There were only 4 of us on the tour and with our tour guide Art it made 5. He was really welcoming, a lot of fun and I really couldn’t praise him enough!
I thought the tour was great value for money and I would definitely book with tru travels again. They made everything so easy and hassle free. 10/10.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
I didn’t think there were many nerve-racking moments, but the zip line made my legs go a bit wobbly

14 day northern Thailand adventure

Art was a fantastic tour guide and is a credit to the company. He is easy to get a long with and greeted us immediately with open arms. There was only the 5 of us including art himself and he made the tour just as fun as if there was more introducing myself to new culinary experiences every day that tingled my taste buds. Art also showed us the nightlife of Thailand and it was incredible. My highlights of the tour was the Grand Canyon water park which was incredible and also the thai cooking class. Art also sorted out a couple of problems with our room straight away as soon as we notified him. I also really enjoyed staying with the hill tribe for a night trying there food and seeing their way of life was a real eye opener. The hotels were excellent. The travel was made to be as comfortable as it could be. We also got to celebrate songkran which was a worldly experience and this was all made possible to our amazing guide and big bro Art seoyo I would recommend him again and again.

What would you improve about this program?
Only really the amount of travelling times between each destination

14 day northern Thailand adventure

Where to begin?? Right from the get go my tour guide art suttisak was fantastic he constantly kept me up to date with what is happening and going to happen he also made it more enjoyable by treating me as a friend and not as a random stranger. The overall adventure was amazing I would definitely come back again and do the same activities as it was memorable. The activities were incredible to experience they were so organised and full of loads to do never a dull moment. Art suttisak was very friendly and funny he never hesitated to get involved and make some memories with the group he was always smiling like he was taking the trip for the first time as well. The best activity for me was the Grand Canyon water park so much to do and explore definitely worth the money you pay for the entire trip. Be back next year!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Enjoy every minute of it including the drunk times as you wont experience it anywhere else the people you meet are so helpful and friendly you become a big family

Fantastic experience

I’ve just completed the 14 day northern Thailand tour with Arthur as our tour guide. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life with much thanks given to TruTravels and Arthur in particular.

The organisation was fantastic, including the communication prior to the tour beginning and I had complete peace of mind that I was in good hands from when Arthur met me at the airport.

In terms of the tour itself, it was exactly what I was looking for with a great itinerary of activities and the perfect amount of “down time”.

There were just 4 of us in our group, but we all got on great and Arthur certainly mixed in with us very well and became the 5th member of the group!

All in all, a great experience and fantastic value for money, I would definitely look to go with TruTravels again or recommend to anyone.

What was your funniest moment?
The banter on the first night including our tour guide Arthur showing off his guitar skills

Excellent guide (gogi)

Gogi was by far the best tour guide I've ever had and made this an exceptional trip. He was the highlight of the tour. He has become more than a guide and it is strange to refer to him in such a way as he is more of a friend and was to everyone on the tour. He was part of the group rather than staff. Always with a smile he aimed it help everyone and make sure they were having a good time while having all their needs taken care of!

Gogi participated in all our activities including ones that weren't part of the tour (night activities requested were lady boy show, many bar night, and muai Thai boxing) he organised and booked all of these. He also provided secret birthday celebrations for 2 of the people on the tour and we were lucky we could repay gogi with celebrations on our last night.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Visiting the hilltribe village. Highlight of the tour.

If you're thinking about booking this trip... BOOK IT!

I had the most incredible adventure on this tour. I cannot recommend this experience enough, seriously 10/10. The way TruTravels put the days together with so many activities is perfect, you really feel like you are making the most of every minute. The tours on the trip are breathtaking and you experience once in a lifetime moments throughout. Our guides Pompom and Art are true Thai Gentleman and made sure we all had the best time. Pompom and Art have a strong knowledge of the history of Thailand and buddhism plus they are also good fun to be around and hangout with. I turned 30 on the trip and the guides and group made sure I had the best birthday. The group were amazing all of us from ages between 18 to 33 and from all walks of life. It was great to meet new people and I believe I've made some friends for life. Thank you TruTravels for putting together the most incredible tour and great team to go with it.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Trekking through the jungle was an incredible experience. You see so many incredible sites along the way and the tribe leader may also make you a jungle hat to protect your head from the sun. When we reached the tribes village the views are utterly breathtaking. Seeing how the tribe live without electricity and everyday items was a big eye opener too and also seeing how happy they all are without these technologies gets you thinking. It was a fantastic experience and I'll hold new values with me forever after this trip.

Twas Fun

This tours itinerary is incredible. I enjoyed that each day was full of things to do but we still had a decent amount of downtime to get some rest or enjoy more of the places that we were in. There were some things that I was certain that I wouldn't be able to do (like zip lining) but it turned out to be one of the best days I had on the trip. Even though I went with a friend I did end up meeting a few amazing people that I actually would like to keep in contact with. The temples and just scenery of Thailand is amazing and beautiful. There were many times that I would just take in where we were and forget to even take a picture.
With that being said, there were some downsides but of course not every trip can be 100% perfect. There is a jungle trek that can be challenging even for the best of us. This trek is to get us to a hill village where we stayed overnight. Honestly, for those days I felt like I just climbed up the mountain, slept, and then went down the mountain. There wasn't really any interaction with the villagers other than some of them saying hello and seeing the bracelets that they made. Fair warning, this tour will make plans with some third party restaurants so be careful about what you're eating. With the exception of 4 people, the entire group got sick. It was not fun worrying about whether to tell the driver to stop or stick my head out of the window because I had to throw up. Also, you can enjoy Thailand through the scenery and some of the temples that we go to but it can get a little "touristy". I mean that in the way that they places we go are so catered to tourism that I would forget that we are even in Thailand, so just be weary of that.
Overall, it was a great and memorable trip that I am glad I went on and can say that I've accomplished.
