Angloville Junior Resort Niegocin 7/7-13/7

Resort Niegocin was a lovely location but the rooms were not very clean and the food was very very variable, do not provide an option for vegetarians on your programme if you cannot guarantee the venue can accommodate this, both mentors and mentees went without proper meals on some days. But the overall structure of the programme was good and I enjoyed my experience apart from the venues failures. The group of mentors on my programme were amazing and I am sill in contact with them after we finished the week, group activities were really fun and everyone enjoyed, coordinators did their job but could have been more approachable and more supportive to the mentors as it’s a new experience for many of them too. Angloville is an amazing company and I can only fault the venue for their organisation not angloville itself

What would you improve about this program?
The venue! Needs to be cleaner and have proper food options for what you as a company have offered

Fantastic experience let down solely by recruitment team

The only issue experienced was with the recruitment team before going on the program. After putting me on a program and taking the deposit, the contact and relevant office at Angloville was unreachable for 3 days with no warning, I was only put on the program 5 days before my flights, so this caused unnecessary worry! Once in Bucharest it was a fantastic and far better organised experience. The city tour was fantastic and a great way to meet fellow native speakers, the lunch was traditional romanian food and a nice way to while away some of the afternoon. Once at the venue, everything was clearly communicated and well organised by the coordinator. The program began as soon as we arrived and was extremely rewarding, helping local children develop their English speakers. As the week progresses, the progress of the children is impressive and by the end of the week there were genuinely interesting conversations aplenty. The food was plentiful, though at times repetitive. Lots of fun and games with both participants and native speaker. Thoroughly recommended, just be warned that the Philippines office is unreliable.

What would you improve about this program?
The native speaker recruitment process. The call centre can't just inexplicably close for multiple days when programs are starting every weekend.

Angloville is the best!

When I first discovered Angloville, I was very skeptical because none of my friends had ever heard of Angloville before. It was a completely new experience with new people. I spent three weeks at a hotel for three different programs. The venue has become a second home to me and I will definitely return again soon. The connections you make with the participants, other native speakers, and the hotel staff are priceless. These souls have touched my heart in a way that is unique to them. It is so much fun and so rewarding to help these kids grow. Not only that but if you choose to do 3 weeks of Angloville, you can also get a TEFL certification through their partnership with Premier TEFL. It is a 120-hour online course that you complete at your own pace as long as it is done before the start of your first program. 10/10 will definitely do again!

What would you improve about this program?
The programs are 1 week long. After one week, you will be working with a new group of kids. I wish the program was longer than 1 week because it's not enough time with the kids. You only just get to know each other and they start to really trust and open up to you near the end of the week.

Fun, new experience

Firstly, teaching English abroad is something I never thought i'd enjoy but Angloville has changed my entire perspective. Although the day was hard, packed many speaking sessions and social activities, it was still very rewarding. Seeing the kids confidence grow during the week was amazing. The other mentors that were part of my course were amazing and so friendly and despite us parting ways, we still keep in touch. Although the whole week could have been organised slightly better on the behalf of Angloville and well as the co-coordinators, everyone still had fun despite this let down. The venue that hosted us (Hotel Excelsior) had an amazing location but the food was terrible and could not cater for a vegan/vegetarian diet very well. The staff did not speak much English (understandable for the location) so it was difficult to communicate but did not affect the overall experience. Angloville were able to put me and my friend in the same room as requested however we did end up with an extra roommate which was a bit of a shame. The only improvement that I could suggest is for the coordinators to give more feedback to us, the mentors as to what we could do better as I felt as though we were left in the dark for much for the programme. Overall the whole week was very fun and I will be returning again next year.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
For dinner one night, we had three dumplings that were filled with fruit Jam and sprinkled with chocolate and butter on the side. It was basically dessert for dinner?

Three Week Angloville

Angloville is unlike anything I’ve ever done before. I found that, as a mentor, I could really get to know the participants (I did the junior program) in a more relaxed and fun way than I would have been able to in a school setting. I’ve loved being able to mentor participants through their presentation, and there is a real sense of achievement at the end of the week. Angloville is an amazing way to actually get to know people, as often I have found that when I have visited countries previously I have not been able to talk to natives in as much depth as I have done. Angloville is also great for meeting people from around the world - I have new friends from all around the UK, South Africa and Australia to name but a few. The days are very full on, which I found hard at times (especially when one of my programs ended on the Saturday and I spent the night travelling to start the next program on Sunday). Overall, I would definitely recommend Angloville, for its incredible ability to connect people from all over the world!

What would you improve about this program?
I think that the safeguarding rules need to be more clear, as there are some blurred lines between the interaction between participants and mentors (for instance adding each other on social media and so forth). I would also mention that some mentors were told to take a break between programs, whilst others were not. As someone who did three consecutive programs, I would have liked to of had a break in between programs.

An incredible experience

I spent a week in Ostrava, CZ with a lovely group of mentors and participants. The whole event was so much fun, and the participants all had such a great time! I can’t wait to come back and do another angloville programme in another destination! Each day we spent our time in speaking sessions 1 on 1 with the children or doing group activities where the mentors take a group of kids between 2 or 3 of them. It’s incredible to see the children’s confidence grow over the course of just a single week! My Mentee improved so much from our first meeting to his presentation on the final day. Knowing you helped someone feel more confident in their English skills and that you helped them learn new things is an amazing feeling you can’t find anywhere else. Definitely give it a go!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If you take on one of these volunteer opportunities be prepared to do lots of talking but also to let loose with the other mentors and the kids, and have a fun time!

Thrilling Experience

I recently completed my first two weeks in Angloville programmes. I attended one att Lipowy Most and the other att Klektoki. This was easily one of the best experiences of my life. I was initially quite hesitant because it felt unreal but att the same time I wanted to experience life. When I got there I realised the coordinators were caring and thoughtful, both the kids and the juniors participating on the programmes were amazing. The food and environment was different and in seclusion. If you like places that are quiet, then attend this program because the venue location is seclusion. I would recommend this program because it was really an exciting adventure throughout the two weeks I spent there.
The kids program should have more speaking session to improve their understanding. Thou some of the kids were good but they were given the opporunity to use their knowledge.

What would you improve about this program?
I loved the group session we hade at junior programs. It would be best of the kids program also had like one-one session there there will be alot of talking instead of games.

Angloville programme

I recently completed my first Angloville programmes, I attended 3 from Warsaw, Poland in order to complete my a TEFL qualification, this was easily one of the best experiences of my life. I was initially quite hesitant thinking it was too good to be true, but when I got there I realised I was completely wrong to be, the coordinators were caring and thoughtful and the juniors participating on the programme amazing and hope to continue to be friends with many of the other volunteers for years to come. I couldn't recommend Angloville more! Although the food and environment was different to my usual the people and the experiences were life changing and something I will always remember. The company is always great and always improving and will definitely be coming again.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
We ate loads of strange food, some good and some bad, the strangest would have to be strawberry and sweet cottage cheese pasta. It was strange but good

Questions & Answers

The two companies I have used for this so far are Angloville and VaughanTown. The enquirer needs to visit their websites and discover what the conditions are. There is availability throughout the year and quite often spaces available on trips at short notice that may not yet have been filled. Angloville has a Facebook page also. volunteers.grupovaughan.com/what-we-do/vaughan-town angloville.com
