Personal Growth

This experience facilitates a lot of personal growth by allowing you to immerse yourself into a new culture and live in a challenging environment, where you are deprived of many of the faciltiies that you may often take for granted. Also, the friendships that you will form from this experience are sure to last a lifetime. I have already planned further trips with some of the friends that I have met on this trip, even though they live in different cities, some of which are quite far away. Would recommend!

A fantastic month!

Completely worth the time and energy. So much emphasis is put on personal and professional growth, really feel like I developed substantially. Also enjoyed the energy infrastructure project, getting out into the community to listen to their problems. We uncovered some serious problems regarding health and inefficiency. Definitely needed a solution and it was really empowering to be working on a solution. Made an impact and some good friends along the way. Not for the faint of heart as the living conditions were basic. I was never bothered however.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Giving a big presentation to critical stakeholders. You definitely get thrown in the deep end.

This experience changed my life!

I have been overseas 4 times with the company now and it has changed my life. This is an incredible avenue for anyone wanting to be in the international development space. Further, social enterprise is such a new and exciting concept which young people have the opportunity to be on the front lines.

I really recommend this program to anyone that is looking to travel in a constructive and exciting way. You meet other like minded people, become immersed in the culture for at least 1 month and learn about ways to contribute to the development space besides volunteering and charity.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I didn’t expect to be given so much feedback with which I would grow so much personally and professionally!

Do good, Develop yourself & Make Friends - All While You See The World

The time I spent trekking with Project Everest was some of the best I have ever had. The opportunites that Project Everest provided - to help build a social enterprise while getting to travel the world - sparked my interest straigh away. And I was not let down. Not only could I easily see how the work I was doing would help the people we were working with, the company also provided incredible opportunities to develop my personal and proffessional self. Spotted into each work day were workshops that covered topics such as business development, public speaking and stakeholder management, to name a few. Each day, as a small team, we would venture out into the community, talking to local groups and families and really getting to know them and their way of life. Accompanying me the whole time was a group of motivated young people who would become some of the strongest friends I will ever have. The bond that I formed with these people, along with the guidance of the capable Project Everest staff, made this one of the most remarkable experiences I have ever had. I cannot reccomend it highly enough!!!!!

What would you improve about this program?
There is very little negative which I have to say about his program. We accomplished all that we set out to do, the company ensured that we were safe, fed and watered at all times and had everything we could need to accomplish our task. (perhaps the food wasn't always to my liking, but this was rather insignificant.)
