Great Resume Builder

Interning abroad has opened so many doors for me. My experience comes up often in interviews and helps me stand out when applying for jobs and graduate school programs. I pushed myself outside my comfort zone and gained valuable life and professional experience through doing so. I learned what I want out of a career and was able to use this experience to guide me in the right direction. I also was able to make great memories and friendships with other students on the program. Overall, it was an amazing summer!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I think I would try to connect more on a personal level with my colleagues. I was so nervous in the office since it was my first real internship and was even more nervous because it was overseas. I did the work without getting to really know those I was working with, so I would try to relax more and open up.
Pros
  • Great accommodations
  • Fun activities
Cons
  • Not a great location for certain food allergies

Singapore internship

I had an internship in Singapore which was an incredible opportunity. They sorted out all of the documents and looked after us while we were there, arranging activities. I met several other students from across the world on the same program that I became good friends with. I also had the opportunity to travel to neighboring countries. While in Singapore I visited Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Indonesia, South Korea, and Malaysia. Sim card and public transport was all organized by them which was very useful. We had introduction activities to Singapore which helped us to get to know the area and meet the other people on the program. The 2 absolute internship representatives living with us were incredibly helpful and kind

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Singapore was a very different culture. The hawker stalls were great, a huge variety of foods in one area for good prices
Pros
  • Met lots of new people
  • Got to explore Asia
  • Great opportunities
Cons
  • The timetable said there was an extra bank holiday

Singapore was an amazing experience

Singapore was an amazing experience. My favorite part was getting to travel to other countries on the weekends. I think placement could have been a bit better. I enjoyed the people I worked with, but I did not enjoy the work I was doing. I think a lot of us struggled with that. The communication before the trip wasn't very effective either. I was called the wrong name, wasn't told when to book my flight, and wouldn't receive responses via email for weeks. All of the activities we did in Singapore were fantastic though. I really enjoyed it, and it was an overall great experience.

Best summer ever

This summer in Singapore was the best experience. I’ve met so many new people and I met my best friend there. Also Singapore is a very good city to live in. It is very safe und clean. The city is so beautiful and divers. The accommodation is beautiful and in the center of the city. The club is only a ten minute walk away. The food is so great and cheap. You can get for 7 SGD Michelin star soup dumplings.
I learned how other Company’s work and what are the differences in the working cultures.
If you have the chance to go to Singapore, then do it. You will not regret it.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fried carrot cake
This is a salty and spicy dish with no carrots. Very strange!
Pros
  • Improve self-confidence
  • Improve English skills (for non-native speaker)
  • Have the summer of a lifetime
Cons
  • It was too short ;)

Singapore Review

I had an extraordinary time in Singapore with my fellow students and the Absolute staff. Carol and Nina were excellent in our transition and I always looked forward to seeing them throughout the trip. Very friendly, helpful and were amazing to be around. The lodging throughout Malaysia and Singapore was top notch and could not have asked to stay in finer hotels.

Absolute placed me into my internship right off the bat and it was a perfect fit for what I was looking for. I learned many countless skills while abroad. Everyone in their college career should have an opportunity to study abroad or at least go abroad. This is an opportunity of a lifetime and to get the confidence of working in a foreign environment will help me moving forward. I am so glad I was able to go on this trip as it has impacted my views and skills greatly. I wish I could go back right now with my group to experience it all again.

What would you improve about this program?
I do not think the program could have been improved. Maybe in Malaysia not to do as much, but then again I enjoyed seeing everything we did even though we were on a time crunch.

Absolute Fantastic

Last summer I traveled to Singapore for a two months internship in Singapore. I always wanted to visit Asia and was told Singapore was the most modern and richest city/country in Asia.

Absolute Internship were fantastic in all the aspects of, they setup my marketing internship, making me feel welcome, making friends and helped me understand the local culture.
I would recommend Singapore to anyone considering doing an internship overseas as it gives you both personal life experiences as well as professional experiences. My biggest advice to other students is to check out Singapore. The country is such a underrated destination.

A+ Experience

If you're debating whether or not to intern in Singapore, you absolutely should! This was a once in a lifetime experience and I’m so grateful I had the chance to do it last summer.

This summer in Singapore was full of adventure, work and laughter. From setting up clean, awesome housing to straight-forward visa to a brilliant internship - Absolute did it all.
Interning in Singapore was easily the best decision I've made in my life. Since the start of the program, Absolute staff was so welcoming. I didn't know what to expect when I arrived, but the staff made me feel comfortable and helped me adapt to the local culture through the many events-, meetups and trips in the weekends.

Honestly though - the best part of the program is the people that you meet. I met so many incredibly great people and made friends from all part of the world.
After a summer in Singapore, you'll for sure come back with awesome memories and stories to share! I'd highly recommend the program.
