Cea CAPA Barcelona review

Cea CAPA was a very nice program, that supported their students and Made sure we were okay. The field trips were truly amazing. The housing options can use some improvement like more options. And students need to have a higher chance of getting their options.
The internships felt like free labor instead of a working experience.
The program is quite expensive. Cea CAPA was good but it has room for improvement.
I truly enjoyed my time there, the classes and hours of my internship were well shared and I had time to travel on weekends.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
It will have to be paella, it was absolutely not what I had expected and I was confused about why people liked it so much.
Pros
  • rice
  • Sea food
  • serving size
Cons
  • Oily
  • Taste like palm oil
  • Mid

My Marketing Internship Experience In Barcelona!

As a Queer and Non-Binary individual, I wanted to make sure I felt safe and seen abroad and this program did a great job at doing so! I felt included in everything going on and the staff at my program especially made sure I was involved in the things I wanted to be involved in! Additionally, my internship as a Marketing & Classroom Support intern at a local preschool strengthened by abilities in Marketing and I was able to professionally develop my experience in the field of Marketing as well as have so much fun working with children.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would put myself out there as soon as I could! I was super nervous and I know everyone is on their own journey but I wish I broke out of my shell a little sooner!

Great Professional and Personal Experience

Interning abroad in Barcelona was an incredible experience, and I couldn't have asked for better support throughout the process. The CEA CAPA Barcelona team was amazing from start to finish, providing tons of guidance and ensuring that the internship selection process was smooth and stress-free. They also organized a variety of events that allowed me to connect with other students in my program, many of whom have become lifelong friends. In addition to the fantastic internship experience, CEA planned unforgettable trips to other cities, making my time in Spain even more memorable. Overall, it was a life-changing opportunity that I will cherish forever.

Review of Internship in Barcelona, Spain

I loved my internship & study program in Barcelona, Spain because I met and learned from many different walks of life. As someone who wants to live and work in international business one day, this was the experience of a lifetime. I worked my first hybrid job and had the opportunity to practice my Spanish language skills everywhere I went! I also met some amazing professors and employers who made my experience worthwhile. I still keep in touch with my employers and classmates from my time abroad, and I miss every second of it!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I went to the top of Tibidabo mountain and saw a beautiful church that overlooked all of Barcelona! It was the most incredible thing I've ever seen.
Pros
  • My living accommodations were amazing! Everything was very close by public transport and I had everything I needed in my building.
  • I got to learn the differences in work-life styles between the US and Spain, and meet some incredible people along the way.
  • The food was amazing! I typically have a lot of food restrictions in the US, and was able to indulge in whatever I wanted while in Europe.
Cons
  • Since I chose to live alone and got placed in a mostly remote internship, I didn't have much social interaction outside of the classroom and wished I had.

I Wish I Could Live it Again- CEA CAPA Barcelona Study Abroad

I cannot say enough good things about this program. I studied abroad with CEA CAPA Spring of 2023 my third year of university in Barcelona, Spain. I opted to do their internship program add on as well. CEA set me up in an incredible apartment in the city center, a 15 minute walk away from our school. All of my credits transferred to my regular uni helping me to graduate from college a semester early! I also loved my internship they found for me, I learned a lot of Spanish and gained computer skills

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Octopus and seafood paella! These are staples to the mediterranean diet, so if you go to Barcelona you have to try them! They are very delicious, especially the seafood paella. A little tip: A local once told me it should take at least 20 minutes for the kitchen to prepare a good paella!
Pros
  • Made so many new friends abroad
  • Easy to travel to other European countries
  • Such a walkable city, you naturally get exercise in and do a lot of sightseeing
Cons
  • Far from home for a few months
  • Amazon in Spain is not like Amazon in the States
  • You have to be on alert for pickpockets

CEA CAPA Studying Abroad in Barcelona

This past fall semester I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain with CEA CAPA Abroad. My experience overall was great and I am so happy I chose this program! I received a lot of information and support from the program beforehand. My housing was amazing and I had a really nice dorm that had a cooking materials and cleaners weekly. My academics were mostly good, I had two classes with one professor that were a bit harder than I thought. The social scene in Barcelona is extraordinary and I had a lot of fun with my classmates. The culture and history in Barcelona is rich and I really enjoyed learning about it and living in such a cool place. Overall, it was an amazing experience and I would recommend it to others.

CEA CAPA Barcelona - A Life Changing Experience

CEA CAPA Barcelona was a fantastic way to experience Europe for the first time. Classes were held Monday-Thursday, so long weekends were great for traveling. Barcelona was a phenomenal city to call home for 3.5 months. CEA CAPA prepared students to go abroad with a step-by-step pre-departure process that made the logistics of going abroad far less daunting. While we were there, CEA CAPA provided us with cultural workshops, optional trips to explore other parts of Spain, and more. CEA CAPA has a great selection of housing options and courses.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice for future students in this program is to make time for yourself when you're abroad. There's always a lot going on during abroad life, so it's very important to not get too overwhelmed and to give yourself some grace. Whether it be a walk alone listening to your favorite playlist or treating yourself to a meal, find the time to truly make your experience your own.
Pros
  • Helpful Pre-Departure Guidance
  • Optional Pre-Planned Trips with CEA CAPA
  • Wide Variety of Courses

My time with CAPA/CEA in Barcelona

I have to give judos to the CAPA/CEA team for helping me through my first two weeks in Barcelona during my Spring 2023 semester. I had lost my phone, and it was surprising how quick my mom was able to get ahold of a representative in the early morning hours. CAPA/CEA helped me with the recovery process of my phone as much as possible. Beyond this, I liked the overall cultural learning concepts of my classes. Perhaps it was because of my communication major, but I enjoyed how all of my classes tied the differences in culture to the class concepts being taught. I also enjoyed taking advantage of the day trips provided by CAPA/CEA. It was a good introduction to smaller less touristy spots with the added bonus of having knowledgeable guides. I liked talking about the history a lot when I was in Tarragona, for example.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was when I bought a pillow from an Asian fast food restaurant. I began to frequent a cheap Asian food restaurant that was close to the CAPA/CEA center and got to know a couple of the people that worked there. One day, I noticed all of the cat pillows in the restaurant and decided to ask the waitress if I could buy one. She looked at me to see if I was serious, and I was, so she asked her manager. He ended up selling it to me for 10 dollars. I felt so accomplished walking around with a weird Chinese cat pillow. I brought it back with me! Another story I have is when I was getting ready for the Monserrat day trip. I was waiting with other students and a guy from the street looked at me. He was interested in having a conversation with me so I did, and we talked about how artificial intelligence will affect different businesses and social interactions. He was appreciative of hearing my perspective and letting him speak, and we shook hands. Immediately thereafter he stopped in the middle of the street and screamed and started speaking gibberish! I'm glad that he didn't unleash his crazy while in discussion, I laughed about it on the bus out of the city.
Pros
  • I improved on my Spanish proficiency
  • I learned how to navigate a city and prepare proper meals for myself.
  • I got to travel throughout Spain and iconic countries!
Cons
  • It was a little stinky and the water was salty, but nothing a water filter can't fix. It's a city so I get the random wierd smells.
  • My roommates got pickpocketed, they talk a lot about it in the intro discussions.
