My internship in Barcelona was an amazing experience that went far beyond just professional growth. The company I was paired with was genuinely interesting and educational, and Beyond makes sure that you are supported and have a sense of community throughout your stay. However, what truly made the experience stand out were the people. From our community coordinator to my fellow peers, I met some of the most interesting people and was lucky enough to form friendships.

By the end of the internship, I left not only more confident and capable, but with an established community in the city. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity and it would recommend it to anyone interested.

This internship is an amazing opportunity for professional growth, building confidence and socialising. This was one of the best opportunities I have experienced, and being able to gain work experience abroad not only being a part of learning new cultures but also learning the language. I would reccomend this internship for people who want to branch out and discover if they want to work in another country and meet new people. The only thing I would say that could definitely be improved is the work experience itself, be prepared to adapt in the work environment as the job may not meet your specific expectations

I think if you want to get some extra hands-on work experience and have the extra funds to do so, this is a good way to spend your money. Not only do you get hands-on work experience, but Beyond Academy provides weekly experiences that really help one to explore Barcelona. Sometimes, with your work, you may end up doing something you didn't originally sign up for, but I think it is good to remember that you are here for experience in general. Putting yourself out there is key. I would recommend to learn a little Spanish before you go to Barcelona, because sometimes people in Barcelona can be a little rude if you only speak English. It is also good to learn the language of a city you will be in for a couple of weeks. But just putting in effort can go a long way in Barcelona.

The six weeks I spent in Barcelona with Beyond Academy were a truly remarkable experience. I got to live in an amazing city, surrounded by the beach and the vibrant Spanish and Catalan culture. To me, the most memorable parts of the program are all the friendships I made and the great nightlife! The internship itself was very insightful and helped me in my professional growth, gave me insights into new industries, and I learned a lot. I also made great connections and felt like I had a good life-work-balance in Barcelona as well! Our community coordinator Isabel was like a big sister, always ready to help, and organized fun events we all enjoyed a lot - often with drinks and meals included. Our accomodation was nice, with a view of the Sagrada Família. However, there was a very big hidden fee for the use of AC (which is very necessary in Barcelona), that was not properly communicated and not listed in the accommodation contract we all signed. Overall, the program is also a bit expensive for what you get. And you have to be really specific with the Beyond Academy staff who are responsible for matching you with your host company. They were often inattentive to my requests, and you have to be very specific about what you do and do not want!! They’ll also try to push you into roles you’re not really interested in.

I had to the most personally enriching experience of my life. They got me an internship in my field, my housing situation was good, and the events were awesome and a lot of fun. I’d highly recommend going to as many events as possible because they are a great way to experience the city. The internship is also great because you can immerse yourself in a different working culture compared to home. My housing was clean and if there were any issues my Community Team was able to help me out. Highly recommend doing this especially in Barcelona.

I had a wonderful experience with Beyond Academy. Isabel and Luiza are wonderful and do their job with care and expertise. Isabel especially was so wonderful and good at showing the intense the city, as well as helping with anything we might’ve needed. My only complaint would be the housing at VIU, with little to no AC. Other than that, I would recommend the experience to anybody who was interested in doing it in Barcelona! I have met so many people that I will forever cherish and will never forget!

This program is a great opportunity to grow and learn to trust yourself. The community team will provide all the support you need, but will also step back and let you figure things out on your own when you need to. Though living abroad certainly has its challenges, I would recommend it to anyone, and I think this program is a great way to make that happen. I had the most amazing time and met some incredible people through my living accommodations. This was a truly special experience and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to live in Barcelona.

I have really enjoyed my time in Barcelona on the Beyond Academy internship program! Our community coordinator, Isabel, was excellent, she was always on hand to help and led some fantastic community events that helped us discover parts of the city we wouldn't have otherwise & experience typical events like flamenco and tapas! The community aspect is great to meet other interns on the program and is well-organised.

My internship was not completely as expected, something that was not the fault of Beyond, and Beyond worked hard to provide appropriate solutions and support throughout this so my program was still meaningful to my professional growth. They also run a careers workshop and 1-to-1 meeting during your program, which were great to supplement your internship.

Interning abroad is such a fun, worthwhile & exciting opportunity, so I would definitely recommend it to anyone interested!
