Very good

I follow the private classes at silk mandarin shanghai.
Very good, professional, fun and they have a nice approach how to teach and way of learning ! The location is really central and easy to reach with different transportations. The study material they use is very efficient and clear. Also the support they offer outside the classes is good and they organize many events and have a great online presence and member group with all kinds of benefits that will help you. The teachers are always reachable and approachable in case any questions

Silk Mandarin - HSK 3 Course

After a long time living in China, I decided to start studying Chinese formally - and I'm glad i did with Silk Mandarin!

The course was exactly what i needed, and was taught excellently by Teacher Jackie in a nice small class size. The only downside was during lockdown we had to move to online classes - but even then they did their best in a tough situation!

I would definitely recommend Silk Mandarin to anyone looking to kick-start their Chinese - I have drastically improved not only my reading, writing, speaking & listening, but also my overall understanding of the culture!

Pros
  • Great Teaching
  • Good Class sizes & facilities
  • A nice friendly environment
Cons
  • Out of their hands - Pandemic lockdown, online classes are not as good as real-life ones, but it was unavoidable
  • Textbooks are not included in the fee.

Flexible and Supportive

I normally find learning difficult, especially with self-review due to my ADHD. But Silk-Mandarin gave me wonderful one-on-one classes with a teacher who knows how to engage me and give the right materials and websites to support my weaknesses. I'm surprised how one year of learning has helped me interact more confidently with my Chinese enviroment (Jiangsu Province) and how they can adapt to my crazy-busy schedule at work. I can communicate with taxi drivers, restaurant waiters, security guards and shop-keepers, which really makes my life in China more convienent. Great company, hardly any flaws.

Hsk 1/2

My previous experience was, form my side, with less commitment compare with actual situation, because i was always busy and no time to review.
After i join in Silk Mandarin , my learning method improve and my commitment became more constant.
I choose Silk Mandarin because i always heard nice things about their method and learning process.
Silk mandarin,as i mentioned before, improve my learning method and the most things i like is the way we been study and review the chapters until now.
I also found a nice and prepared teacher that always explain , following the history, the meaning of each character we are study.

Awesome!

The teacher is extremely qualified and explains the content in a good speed according to the student, the atmosphere is good, we have the opportunity to learn more about Chinese culture and the school team is very attentive. The teacher pays attention to details and works together with the student according to the student needs. The teacher always shows news and videos about what is happening lately. The communication between the student and the school is very smooth, all questions are answered very quick. I recommend!

Best Way to Learn Mandarin

I studied with this school for a year and I can honestly say it's one of the best choices I made. I went in with an okay vocabulary from self study, and now I'm at a level that I can discuss almost anything with anyone and can be independent in China. Even before my Chinese was this level, the school and my teacher (Cristina) would help me manage things I struggled to do on my own. The school also offered fun activities and trips, such as pipa picking and doing traditional CNY crafts. I'm very sad I had to go, but it was for a good reason - with my better Chinese, I was able to enroll in a Chinese?university.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
If your teacher assigns you homework, do it! And make sure to attend as many events as you can.

1-1 lesson at Silk Mandarin

I have been studying for SHK1 at Silk Mandarin in Suzhou, and it has been a great experience. I had no previous experience of studying Chinese, but my teacher Christina really knows how to guide you from the beginning. It only has been about a month since I started my lessons, but I can already feel a lot of progressions which makes my life here more comfortable and enjoyable. Everyone at Silk is very friendly and supportive, and it is overall great study environment. It is also nice that they offer a lot of activities outside of class room where you can practice your Chinese and meet other expats studying Chinese.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I chose private lesson because my work schedule is rather irregular, but I would love to do group lesson if it was possible.
