Yes, I recommend this program

Taking this course has enabled me to work abroad in a language school for over 8 years and is now enabling me to be my own boss and work online via a language teaching/learning website. It provided me with the information and tools that I needed in order to feel confident enough to pursue a career in a field that I am passionate about. I was a complete novice and had little to no knowledge of the theory or practical side of teaching English as a foreign language but the course was extremely informative and gave me all I needed to know to begin my career and take my first steps towards being an experienced teacher.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking thing for me was when I had completed my course and began my job as a teacher. Standing up in front of a class of students for the first time isn't the same as planning and preparing but remembering everything I had learnt during the course got me through it and I am still teaching, more than 8 years later.

Great course! The way the course is organized, I feel like I fully learned and interalized all the information presented. The course takes you from the first day of class to the last covering everything in between to include: student level and diagnostic testing, how to create a syllabus, and lesson plans, a review of grammar and tenses necessary for teaching ESL students, teaching methodolgies, teacher roles, what to expect from your students, how to evaluate your students and your class for improvements, as well as proffesional development. This course includes sample placement and diagnostic tests and many sample activities.

I would like to let you know that what motivated me to do the Diploma course was originally to up´date my qualifications and to receive an international recognition for my teaching experience and qualification, which is national. This goal has been achieved.I would like to outstand the role of my tutor, who was always ready and willing to give me advice.
Although I graduated in 1982, I have always been involved in teaching English as a Foreign Language to all-age-groups or classes and this course has shown me that, all the courses i have done since 1982, and congresses or lectures I have attended or taken part in, have kept me up-to-date in different educational areas.
I would recommend adding or designing a course suitable for TEFL online or blend´learning. I have been doing many courses since I finished my Diploma, and all of them were related to TICs. Forunately our own platform was ready for March, when all the COVID 19 local lockout started, but I have found that I am not an expert at that, and this online or blended learning method will be the future in education. Thank you for your interest in our experience

What would you improve about this program?
I would add or design material for e and blend teaching EFL as this is the coming trend and it would be very important to incorporate practical knowlege regarding this aspect. I am sure that most of the teachers from all over the world would benefir from it.

This program was a completely great experience. It gave me useful knowledge which I’ve been implementing while teaching in my classes. Information, suggestions and recommendations given to us are totally advantageous. I’m so happy to apply for the program. When I had finished it, I found a job in a college and now I’m looking forward to researching a new job in any other countries when I get more experiences. I want to improve myself by taking a look at my notes that I took while studying this certificate program’s lessons. Thanks a lot!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
It was definitely wasabi. When I was in the US, one of my Japan friends invited me for the dinner and I ate it in 2017.

I started with just the online certifications then almost a year later upgraded to include classroom experience. While a generous 6 months is allotted for each course to be completed, if you have the motivation the courses can be completed much sooner. The lessons were informative and academically relevant. For someone who was not an educator coming into the courses the overall program was very helpful in explaining how to teach English as a foreign language. Once I completed the "in class" practicum, I had a new-found confidence in my education abilities. The support staff was very helpful and would answer questions promptly and comprehensively. They provided very helpful feedback and advice. I now work in a wonderful job as a English conversation teacher.

What would you improve about this program?
I understand that demand was down for TEFL and TESOL teaching and classes when I took the in class practicum. I was the only student in the class. With my lack of education experience, this was helpful because I was able to get more in depth and better one on one. I completed this program during the 4th of July week. I feel that, while the time frame was perfect for my busy schedule, the teacher had been inconvenienced. Maybe offer a few less class options so that the educators do not have to scramble for one student and maybe the class can fill up with more students.

Md. Mahfujar Rahman

Why did you choose this program?

Well, a number of factors motivated me to choose this course.

To begin with, I completed my graduation and post-graduation on economics. However, I teach English because I am good at it although I don't have any certification. That's why I was searching for one for me.

I thought this course matched my interest very much. I could do it at my own pace.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

Well, I took the course without any tutor. So, I didn't get any assistance directly from the tutor. However, the course materials they provided are so lucid and elucidating that I didn't have that many questions to ask. Sometimes, I browsed through some sites as suggested in the materials. Besides, whenever I wanted to know something, I dropped emails and found them instantly.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would say that anyone, who would like to undertake the course, should have the basics of the English language to draw the best out of the course. It's due to the fact that one has to understand the approach and the intended tone of the author of the materials to do well in the tests. Most importantly, it's about developing quality, not understanding only.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

It's entirely up to the individuals. As far as I am concerned, this course is very helpful for all kinds of participants, mostly for those with jobs. It's because there's no making haste when it comes to taking tests. It's really student-friendly and so less burdensome for the students. Thus, learning will be according to the will of the students.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Well, although I haven't moved to another country to teach English, I have had to move to another city far away from my hometown. One thing I found very challenging is the cultural differences alongside the language. Sometimes, I have to get stuck understanding the way my students speak. However, I managed to get through by spending time out just to observe their lifestyle and talk to those who came here earlier.

Tell us a little about yourself. What position do you hold there?

I’m John and I’m the head trainer. I’ve been teaching English for over 20 years, mostly here in Prague.

What makes Prague a unique destination to obtain a TEFL Certification?

Prague is a very beautiful city – most visitors fall in love with the place. Everything is still reasonably priced, so your money will go a lot further here than in, say, Paris or London. It’s also very nicely located – you can be in Berlin, Vienna, or Budapest in just a few hours. It’s also helpful that there are a lot of language schools in Prague, so your employment options are greater than in many other European cities.

We are proud of our course. We’re dedicated teacher trainers who have spent many years working in the field. Over the four weeks, you will gain vital skills and knowledge, and we will make sure that every trainee benefits as much as they can, both through classroom input sessions and individual guidance.

We have an excellent library and you will have the chance to use this to help plan your lessons. You will also have the opportunity to teach young learners on the course – practical and rewarding experience that in fact many courses of this type do not offer.

What are some extracurricular activities students participate in during this course? (Does your training centre offer any guided tours?)

We have a very friendly staff who will help organize outings for the trainees, depending on their interests. Typically people who take the course want to see the city and guided tours are often planned early in the course. There will be trips to Czech restaurants and pubs, too, and we can help you plan a visit to the opera, Prague Castle, or the famous Black Light Theatre.

Please bear in mind however that as the course is intensive in nature, you will not have a great deal of free time during the four weeks of study.

Do students generally stay in Prague to teach after completing this course? (How does this course help students teach abroad? What are some other popular destinations?)

It really depends on the individual. Some trainees want to go back home to think about their next move, and some can’t stand to leave Prague once the course is over! Whatever you decide to do, we can help and advise.

What is one piece of advice you would offer someone considering obtaining TEFL Certification in Prague?

I would advise someone to think carefully about whether they want to teach English to foreigners. If they have the desire and a bit of talent in that area, then we will do our very best to help develop this, and give them the tools they need to do a very good job in the classroom.
