Yes, I recommend this program

I have just completed a 120-hour TEFL course and I am satisfied with this experience. I can say that I enjoyed ITTT online course. Firstly, it was very convenient for me, because I have a part-time job. Secondly, it is easy to navigate within the system. Here you can study Units one by one. The following Unit opens as soon as you finish the Test and you can do several Units per day (its good when you have a day-off). Finally, the course itself is well structured with many teaching ideas/tips and useful examples. For some topics, the common troubles are listed with possible ways of solving them, which I found rather useful. In my opinion, tests weren’t that difficult, however, sometimes they required knowledge of previous Units. For me it was important to include phone number on the post address and after my request, I got an immediate answer that it was done (special thanks!). My certificate is on the way and, in addition, I gained some knowledge, so I am satisfied with my choice.

What would you improve about this program?
I am satisfied with this ITTT online course, but videos in the Unit 10 might be a bit longer to cover more examples. Anyway, videos are good, it’s easy to ‘see the difference’.

You do you have to make sure you have time and concentration as the programme is tough in terms of material to go through. You do need to make sure that you have 4 weeks to fully concentrate. Combining holiday and this course is not advisable. Making the lesson plans is really good to understand the flow of the CLT method. Also, an excellent opportunity to perform teacher practice. This is the key to success. In advance really do study grammar already as like many people I barely remembered any grammar and it is necessary to be able to support students on this journey as well as speaking.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Within 2 days into the course the classroom is yours. But with the excellent support you just have to do it.

Yes, I recommend this program

I stressed for about a week, maybe more, trying to find a good place to get my certificate. TEFL accreditation is not regulated like universities are, so a lot of cheap places are just certificate mills that don't really teach you anything. I paid extra to get the videos and I highly recommend doing that! The videos were well-made and worth the extra dough! The course isn't too difficult and can be done in a couple of weeks if you knuckle down. It's also great quality and teaches you a lot about ESL! Highly recommend.

What would you improve about this program?
I would make sure the video covered all of the content. There were times that sections in the unit were not covered in the video.

If you plan to teach English in a foreign country I recommend doing a TEFL course. The 120 hr TEFL course has all the ingredients needed to get you started in the world of ESL. ITTT caters to all audience when it comes to taking the course. I am very busy so I opted for the online course without tutor and videos. I worked at my own pace and own time. Do not fear, the site is easy to navigate and user-friendly. As native English speakers we often take certain things for granted but ITTT taught me differently and now I have a different perspective. Thumbs up ITTT!!!!!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing I saw was the penis festival.

Yes, I recommend this program

I have been teaching English for quite a long in Bangladesh. I didn't take any professional course previously. That's the reason I was looking for one that would be flexible for me and well designed to develop my skills further. I think this course has been great for me. I learned a lot. What fascinated me most is the support I received from ITTT. They offered me a free course after the successful completion of TEFL. Besides, whenever I asked anything, I always found their cordial response with utmost promtnes. The most thought-provoking part in this course is ESA: engage, study and activate. I feel that some video lessons could be included to show more examples of how ESA lessons are planned and implemented. Overall, this course is very helpful and eye-opening.

What would you improve about this program?
Inclusion of some other videos on ESA would be much more helpful.

Md. Mahfujar Rahman

He is an ITTT graduate and a teacher from Bangladesh. He has been teaching English there for about 5 years.

Why did you choose this program?

Well, a number of factors motivated me to choose this course.

To begin with, I completed my graduation and post-graduation on economics. However, I teach English because I am good at it although I don't have any certification. That's why I was searching for one for me.

I thought this course matched my interest very much. I could do it at my own pace.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

Well, I took the course without any tutor. So, I didn't get any assistance directly from the tutor. However, the course materials they provided are so lucid and elucidating that I didn't have that many questions to ask. Sometimes, I browsed through some sites as suggested in the materials. Besides, whenever I wanted to know something, I dropped emails and found them instantly.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I would say that anyone, who would like to undertake the course, should have the basics of the English language to draw the best out of the course. It's due to the fact that one has to understand the approach and the intended tone of the author of the materials to do well in the tests. Most importantly, it's about developing quality, not understanding only.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

It's entirely up to the individuals. As far as I am concerned, this course is very helpful for all kinds of participants, mostly for those with jobs. It's because there's no making haste when it comes to taking tests. It's really student-friendly and so less burdensome for the students. Thus, learning will be according to the will of the students.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Well, although I haven't moved to another country to teach English, I have had to move to another city far away from my hometown. One thing I found very challenging is the cultural differences alongside the language. Sometimes, I have to get stuck understanding the way my students speak. However, I managed to get through by spending time out just to observe their lifestyle and talk to those who came here earlier.

John Coan

Tell us a little about yourself. What position do you hold there?

I’m John and I’m the head trainer. I’ve been teaching English for over 20 years, mostly here in Prague.

What makes Prague a unique destination to obtain a TEFL Certification?

Prague is a very beautiful city – most visitors fall in love with the place. Everything is still reasonably priced, so your money will go a lot further here than in, say, Paris or London. It’s also very nicely located – you can be in Berlin, Vienna, or Budapest in just a few hours. It’s also helpful that there are a lot of language schools in Prague, so your employment options are greater than in many other European cities.

We are proud of our course. We’re dedicated teacher trainers who have spent many years working in the field. Over the four weeks, you will gain vital skills and knowledge, and we will make sure that every trainee benefits as much as they can, both through classroom input sessions and individual guidance.

We have an excellent library and you will have the chance to use this to help plan your lessons. You will also have the opportunity to teach young learners on the course – practical and rewarding experience that in fact many courses of this type do not offer.

What are some extracurricular activities students participate in during this course? (Does your training centre offer any guided tours?)

We have a very friendly staff who will help organize outings for the trainees, depending on their interests. Typically people who take the course want to see the city and guided tours are often planned early in the course. There will be trips to Czech restaurants and pubs, too, and we can help you plan a visit to the opera, Prague Castle, or the famous Black Light Theatre.

Please bear in mind however that as the course is intensive in nature, you will not have a great deal of free time during the four weeks of study.

Do students generally stay in Prague to teach after completing this course? (How does this course help students teach abroad? What are some other popular destinations?)

It really depends on the individual. Some trainees want to go back home to think about their next move, and some can’t stand to leave Prague once the course is over! Whatever you decide to do, we can help and advise.

What is one piece of advice you would offer someone considering obtaining TEFL Certification in Prague?

I would advise someone to think carefully about whether they want to teach English to foreigners. If they have the desire and a bit of talent in that area, then we will do our very best to help develop this, and give them the tools they need to do a very good job in the classroom.
