Granada, Spain

Studying in Granada, Spain through CEA CAPA was the perfect fit for me! The academic load was much lighter than back home, which was a breath of fresh air. I felt incredibly safe in Granada and enjoyed living with a host mom. Although I naturally faced struggles during my time abroad, the onsite staff was so supportive and genuinely cared about me. It was comforting to know that in a city full of strangers, I had people who saw me. One of my favorite parts about living abroad was becoming a regular at local coffee shops/restaurant and some of the hardest goodbyes were to those waiters that treated us like family. Granada is the perfect size and location for exploring, while still feeling like you belong.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would push myself to get more involved while abroad. There were so many opportunities to get connected with the local community, but I didn't always take advantage of them.
Pros
  • Included excursions
  • Proximity to city center
  • Caring staffz
Cons
  • The eating schedule was a huge adjustment for me
  • Getting accustomed to my host mom's cooking

CEA CAPA Business and Psychology

I had the best time of my life while abroad with this program. Starting with education, they had great options for classes within my major like Positive Psychology and also offered great classes like Food and Culture or Rome Across the Ages: Art and Architecture. I got to learn a branch of psychology not usually offered by my home university, while also immersing myself with the culture around me and learning the history of Rome. The classes were only once a week and I was done with classes by Wednesday. This allowed me to travel Thursday through Sunday. Rome was super easy to travel out of, whether it was via train or plane. CEA CAPA offered great travel opportunities through the program that allowed me to get closer with my classmates, which really helped since I came into the program knowing no one. Even on the days we didn't travel, my roommates and I had the best time exploring Rome and all it had to offer. The Vatican, the Trevi, the night life, etc. This program is one I will never stop raving over. I highly recommend Rome as your abroad location, and I extra recommend going with CEA.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I got to travel a lot during my time abroad and I had the best times of life. I would change not going in a little more prepared with trips planned and having reached out to my roommates more. I went in blind, which ended up amazing anyways, but I felt I might of missed out on some other amazing opportunities and trips because I did less planning than others.
Pros
  • I had plenty of time to travel and access to basically any location I wanted.
  • Location was very walkable.
  • I never ran out of things to do and see in Rome.

A city filled with opportunity and a great program that supports it!

CEA CAPA was incredibly supportive and encouraging throughout the entire program. Barcelona was a big city with so much opportunity, culture, parks, and varied landscapes. CEA CAPA helped make the city feel comfortable by offering excursions like tickets to an FCB game, a trip to Valencia, tapas workshops and more to help us acclimate to the city with direction. The classes were fun and related to the city which I loved, and the support was 24/7. Barcelona was such a great city to live in overall.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
To future travelers, I recommend walking around the city with no end location in mind. I think allowing yourself to get lost and explore what feels the most interesting or entrancing to you is a great way to familiarize yourself with the city and the area you live in.

Studying abroad in Madrid is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Studying abroad in Madrid was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Every day felt like a new adventure, from grabbing churros con chocolate with friends after class to wandering through El Retiro Park on sunny days. One of my favorite memories was going to local food markets and trying things I’d never had before, like freshly sliced jamón and homemade tortilla española. I also loved how easy it was to travel on weekends. I took day trips to nearby towns and got to see so many different sides of Spanish culture. Most importantly, living in Madrid helped me grow so much as a person. I became more confident, independent, and open-minded, and I built friendships with people that I know will last a lifetime!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Cochinillo, which is the most popular baby pig dish in Spain! So delicious!!!!
Pros
  • You’re surrounded by incredible art, architecture, museums, and traditions. There’s always something new to learn and explore!
  • From tapas nights to long weekend, the food culture and relaxed pace of life make every day enjoyable.
  • It's super easy (and affordable) to travel around Spain and the rest of Europe.
Cons
  • If you don’t speak Spanish, it can feel challenging at first but it’s also a great way to improve your language skills!
  • Things like daily schedules, meal times, and store hours can be very different from what you’re used to.
  • Being far from home can be tough sometimes, especially during holidays or big family events.

Seville, Spain

I had an amazing experience in my Seville study abroad program during the summer, I had two great professors who were extremely well rounded and exposed us to new ways of learning that gave me a bigger perspective in the academic side of things, I took 2 classes for 6 credits and stayed with a host Dad in casa de Sevilla, my homestay was one of the things that shaped my experience the most , even thought I had random roommates every part of it felt like a second home with all of my roommates and my host dad and our daily dinners in our "casa". Overall, I would recommend seville as one of the best cities specially with the study center that always had Someone there for anything we needed during the program!!

Living in Madrid

Studying abroad in Madrid was truly one of the most rewarding experiences of my college career. The program offered the perfect mix of academic challenge, cultural immersion, and personal growth.

The classes at Nebrija were engaging and relevant, and I loved that professors encouraged real discussion. It was unlike any classes that I have taken in the US. The CEA CAPA staff were also amazing. They were always supportive, organized, and ready to help with everything from housing questions to local recommendations.

Living in Madrid itself was incredible. The city has so much energy, and I truly will never get to experience anything like it again. The program’s excursions and cultural activities helped me experience Spain beyond the classroom.

My experience in London

I cannot recommend studying abroad with CEA CAPA enough, especially in London. The city is such a cultural hotspot, and there is truly something for everyone. I spent an entire year there, and I never got bored of it, especially thanks to CEA CAPA's excursions to various places throughout England. If you're worried about moving overseas and being on your own, that is a totally valid concern -- however, I will say I felt the safest I've ever felt in a city in London, and I feel like I settled into my existence there so quickly. Going abroad with CEA CAPA is especially helpful, because I was able to meet so many other people in the same boat as me, and I made friendships that will last a lifetime.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would say yes more! I definitely did a lot and met a lot of people, but I did let my nerves get the best of me sometimes. Looking back, I wish I had taken every opportunity offered to me, because the time flies by so fast and suddenly you're back home.
Pros
  • Meeting new people
  • Memories to tell people for the rest of your life
  • Easier world travel
Cons
  • Occasional homesickness

Summer 2025 Prague

I was the youngest student in my group that went which made it a bit awkward in the beginning, but when I got to the airport, the staff were super sweet and very good at communicating with me about events and meetings we needed to attend. They planned really fun and insightful trips for us to really get to know the history of Prague and Czechia as a whole. The city itself was beautiful and very walkable! The only thing was that the apartment did not have AC per Europe standards which was not at all CEA CAPAs fault, but was a bit frustrating to maneuver.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Ask all the questions that you have and really commit to understanding the history of the country. It really does change your view of historical events, especially because we are only ever taught history from the lens of the US and seeing/hearing about the same historic events through a different lens emphasizes the complexity and importance of learning from history.
Pros
  • walking
  • close proximity to anything all the time
  • the trolleys and metro station <3
Cons
  • very hot :(
  • walking

I love CEA CAPA

CEA CAPA was the perfect way to have a study abroad experience. The team was incredibly helpful and supportive both pastorally and professionally. The way the program was set up helped us to be independent and also allowed us to explore the best parts of Sydney through trips and excursions. Some of the drawbacks of the program were that it was slightly isolating from other students our age, as we were not part of an institution. Additionally, the classes weren't incredibly academically stimulating.

Life Altering Experience

This program catapulted me into a new era of my life, which I would call the best one yet. My professors were so kind, helpful, and accessible. I learned so many valuable skills that I wouldn't have learned had I stayed in my American university's classes. most notably, public speaking and presentation skills.

The area that CEA CAPA is in was perfect for students, centered in a busy area there was a plethora of shops and restaurants, as well as transportation for easy access. The staff at CEA CAPA were extremely kind in setting up activities, helping with general questions, pointing us towards stores for supplies, and overall recommendations.

I learned so much about myself on this experience and I can't recommend it enough!

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment was definitely when I first arrived, trying to speak the language with locals and totally butchering half of the words. I tried to ask a pharmacist for tissues and it ended in us both crying from laughing so hard.
Pros
  • Accessible
  • Flexible
  • High-quality education
Cons
  • Expensive
  • Language barriers
