Studying Abroad in Seville

I absolutely loved my time studying abroad in Seville. My host dad, Quique was the best blessing I could ask for and the friends I met abroad are friends I will have forever. The CEA Staff, especially Mary Alice, always cared about all of us students and wanted to make sure we had the best experience possible. Sevilla is such an amazing city and the people there really make an effort to include you in their culture. I enjoyed my classes at CEA CAPA too, as all the professors wanted their students to succeed. It was a great place to learn Spanish as well. I 100% recommend studying abroad in Seville with CEA CAPA.

The Best Abroad Experience I Could Have Asked For

I completely fell in love with Barcelona, and CEA made my experience unforgettable. As a Student Ambassador, I connected with the staff beyond the classroom and on my birthday they even surprised me with brownies! My professors were hilarious and engaging, and I was pushed to excel through interactive classes and field trips. I genuinely enjoyed commuting to and from class each day, and the class format gave me the freedom to explore after school and travel on the weekends. I genuinely think about abroad every day and I yearn for reliving my experience!

Pros
  • Cultural Immersion
  • Student Support
  • Flexible Class Structure

Amazing experience

While my time in Grenoble was short, it was an amazing one. I’ve never been out the country until then and I felt that I was safe and very well taken care of. My friend actually felt a bit under the weather and they were very well taken care of Brie made sure of that as well. Where they helped them get to the Dr. for the best medical attention that they needed. They also made sure to have them call their parents so that way they were in the loop as it being their first time abroad, as well as being away from their home and family.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I went on a solo trip for Italy and it was a beautiful experience.

Alicante is a Must See City

Studying abroad in Alicante was truly incredible—honestly a 10/10 experience across the board. The city itself is so lively and welcoming, with beautiful streets, amazing food, and a culture that feels both vibrant and laid-back. There was always something to do and somewhere to explore, whether it was going out with friends, discovering new neighborhoods, or just enjoying the beach after class.

CEA CAPA’s staff made everything so easy and supportive, which helped me settle in right away. My apartment was comfortable and in a great location, and the people I met ended up being one of the best parts of the whole experience. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a fun, friendly, and unforgettable month abroad.

Prague is the Best

I had some of the most fun times of my entire life while in Prague. So many people I know at myself school go abroad and tell all them to go to Prague. The city itself was beautiful and was very unique to everything else I saw. I had previously been to all major cities across Europe, but Prague became my favorite after my abroad experience. The city if very cheap, safe, and walkable. There is so much to do around Prague, whether it be to eat, walk, sightsee, or more. I cannot recommend Prague enough to future travelers.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Walk everyday. There is so much to see around Prague, so I suggest to just go outside and walk. This was one of my favorite things to do in my free time while in Prague. There were multiple days where I would end up walking over 10 miles without even realizing.

  • Overall City

Alicante was a once in a lifetime !

I loveddd Alicante. My host mom was amazing, and the whole class really bonded over our activities. We went during las hogueras, and it was one of the most fun nights I have ever had. The food is so yum and the culture of walking everywhere, spending meals together, and having siestas is very refreshing and relaxing. Coffee is also so cheap haha. There is not really any A/C, but you get used to it... almost. We were provided all of our meals which was such a nice bonus. Also, make sure to check out San Juan/ the locals' beaches. Sometimes the one closest to the pier was extra crowded. The further away you go the calmer the scene is! Another bonus is public transportation! Sooo nice and convenient to use. Make sure to grab a pass for the duration of your stay or just throw some rides on a card.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Fish with HEADS! The seafood and fruit was sooo delicious since it was so fresh. However, the cooking class we had was definitely an adjustment when we just threw the whole fish into the pot!
Pros
  • great people
  • beautiful sites
  • public transportation
What other participants should know
  • Alicante specifically has very few English speakers

Review of my semester with CEA CAPA

Going abroad with CEA CAPA was one of the most influential things I have ever done in my life. Every professor and staff member I had an interaction with was so amazing and they truly wanted the best for you. The housing I received with CEA was also so amazing and I couldn't have asked for a better place to call home. Going on excursions with CEA were so special and amazing to have a day trip all ready planned was so nice and relaxing to be able to explore new places. My time abroad was so special and CEA CAPA had such a huge influence on that time.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
One thing I would change if I was to go again was to never say no to anything. Although I said yes to doing many things I wish that I didn't think twice about it and went for it, no matter how much it scared me.

CEA CAPA Sevilla

CEA CAPA Sevilla is truly one of a kind. Every aspect of this program was incredible. I lived across the river in Los Remedios where I experienced a truly local neighborhood. I lived in a Casa de Sevilla with five other girls but we had a host parent who came everyday to take care of us. This was undoubtedly the most impactful part of the program - it was amazing. In addition, I took classes at both the CEA CAPA center as well as UPO, a local Spanish university. My classes at both places were amazing and had numerous opportunities to get further involved in the community. I also left Sevilla as an advanced Spanish speaker which was very important to me before I went abroad. Through my classes and my host parent I was able to improve my Spanish so much! I recommend this program completely :)

Getting to Know Granada

Granada was the perfect mix of immersion and support. When we first landed, not a lot of people spoke english, which was a stark difference from my later experience in Barcelona. That was perfect because it immediately dropped me into this new culture. As soon as we settled in we had a plan for each day. Our days were a mix of classes and excursions, some were tours and others were overnight. This schedule allowed us to see as much of out host city as we could while also getting the opportunity to explore on our own. Our CEA CAPA ambassadors accompanied us on excursions, and gave us advice for international jobs, suggestions for sightseeing, and help with travel plans. The city felt slower than a larger city might, but it felt very alive. That was perfect for my study abroad experience because I got to know a few locals while immersing myself in a new way of life. It was a beautiful way to get to know my new city while also learning and exploring at a comfortable pace.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
One of the tapas bars in the Albacin was known for their escargo. We went to try it for my friends' 22nd birthday. I was so scared to try it, but it tasted really good!
Pros
  • Beautiful city for walking
  • Welcoming people
  • Music and art are everywhere
What other participants should know
  • Very hot during the summertime!

My Academics and Internship Experience Abroad

My experience abroad was comprised of a wonderful Finance, Accounting, and Data Analytics internship at a sustainability startup called Clic Recycle. We worked with human hair to create products that decontaminate water, reduce water usage in growing crops, soundproof buildings, and more. I was able to rework some of the past systems to improve efficiency, and I was invited to attend the Mobile World Congress to find potential investors. Outside of my internship, I also had four very interesting classes that I was taking, which also included field trips and assignments that encouraged interaction with the local community. I was able to learn so much, not only about Barcelona, its culture, and its history, but I was also able to learn more about myself, my strengths, and my interests that would guide me to a fruitful future. The staff were so helpful in this, as they genuinely care about their students and want them to get all that they are hoping for and more out of the program. I cannot recommend this program enough, and have been an avid recommender for it since returning to my campus.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I would say one of the most surprising things I did was jump in and dance under the sparklers during a Correfoc, which is a fire run. After following along with the crowd, I finally worked up the courage to jump in, and it was super fun. I was worried about getting burned, but I didn't, and now I have a new, fun, and rather unique experience!
Pros
  • Amazing transportation system
  • City, beach, mountains, and rural areas- how can you beat that?
What other participants should know
  • Very touristy depending on when you go
