The curriculum was valuable, and I truly enjoyed my time here. Having already lived in China for six years, I wasn’t new to the language environment, but even just two weeks of study here provided a lot of value. Most of my lessons were with one teacher, whose engaging approach made learning both challenging and enjoyable. Their pace was excellent, and they allowed plenty of room to explore ideas and concepts in depth. I also had the opportunity to take one class with another teacher, who offered a slightly different teaching style and activity selection, which was an interesting change of pace. Both were very accommodating and open to any preferences I had.

The teaching pace overall was great—more time was spent on challenging areas while easier or familiar topics were reviewed efficiently. This balance kept each lesson productive and engaging.

One of the best aspects of the program was the option to have lessons outside the classroom. Visiting places like museums or other local attractions provided a great opportunity to practice language skills “in the wild.” It made learning feel more authentic and interactive, helping to connect what we studied in class with real-life situations.

The location is fantastic, within walking distance of downtown and close to everything you might need. There are also plenty of options for day trips, whether by a short train ride or exploring nearby attractions.

The staff really put effort into making students feel comfortable and supported, which made the whole experience even better.

Ich war für zwei Wochen bei Keats in Kunming, mit vier Stunden Unterricht vormittags von Montag bis Freitag. Der Einzelunterricht war sehr intensiv und war ausgerichtet an meinen Wünschen, die ich bei der Einstufung geäußert hatte.

Die Unterkunft in der Schule war sehr praktisch, und das Essen vor Ort hat mir vor allem mittags und abends immer sehr gut geschmeckt.

Schön fand ich, dass die Gruppe der Schüler in Bezug auf Nationalitäten, Alter und Vorkenntnissen sehr heterogen war, und dass es wirklich leicht war, Anschluss zu finden. Dadurch, dass fast alle nur für kurze Zeit da waren, war jeder sehr offen.

Die Schule hat gute Unterstützung im Alltag und bei Fragen wie Orientierung in der Umgebung, chinesische SIM-Karte, VPN usw. geboten.

Kunming selbst hat mir sehr gefallen, weil es so viel zu sehen und zu entdecken gibt und weil die Menschen freundlich und entspannt waren. Eins meiner Highlights war ein Wochenendausflug zum Steinwald.

I spent two weeks at Keats in Kunming, with four hours of lessons each morning from Monday to Friday. The individual instruction was very intensive and tailored to my specific needs, which I had expressed during the placement test.

The accommodation at the school was very convenient, and I particularly enjoyed the food, especially at lunch and dinner.

I really appreciated the diverse student body in terms of nationalities, ages, and prior knowledge, and how easy it was to connect with everyone. Since almost everyone was only there for a short time, everyone was very welcoming.

The school provided excellent support with daily tasks and questions like getting my bearings, obtaining a Chinese SIM card, using a VPN, and so on.

I loved Kunming itself because there was so much to see and discover, and the people were friendly and relaxed. One of my highlights was a weekend trip to the Stone Forest.

Classes at Keats School are very enjoyable. The teachers adjust the lessons to my level and teach with great patience. They also incorporate current events, which makes the classes very interesting. I am currently taking online lessons from Japan. The schedule is very flexible, which is extremely helpful. Above all, I can study in a fun and relaxed way.
In particular, Ms. Ma has a warm and cheerful personality, and I always enjoy listening to her interesting class.I’m really glad I chose Keats School.

We first began at Keats in 2017 when my family moved here. The teachers were all so helpful! Teacher Su was so kind and patient with my three children, and they all made great progress under her teaching. We have all enjoyed our life in Kunming and the weather and food here are amazing! Our whole family has benefitted from the teaching at Keats and we are thankful Kunming has a school like this where we can study. We can recommend this school to any travelers to Kunming who want to study Chinese, but also to families who want to study together. It’s a great environment!

出張で昆明に長期滞在することになり、仕事をしながらビジネス中国語を学べる場所を探していました。学生だけでなく、社会人の方にもおすすめです。雲南留学を検討している方の参考になればと思います。

・1対1の対面授業
学生個人のレベルや要望に基づき授業内容を調整してくれます。
授業は基本的に教科書に沿って進めていきますが、私はどちらかと言うと会話力を鍛えたかったので、それを事前に伝えていました。先生は授業の進度にこだわらず自由に喋らせてくれたので、雑談を通じて文化の違いを知ることができ、口語の向上にもつながったと感じています。また、課外授業として昆明市内の博物館や市場などに連れて行ってもらうこともありました。座学だけでなく、自分の目で現地の人々の生活や歴史や文化に触れることができます。

・授業スケジュールの柔軟さ
別件で出張が入り、授業を数日休まざるを得なくなることが何度かありましたが、その時は先生と調整の上、別の時間に補講を受けることができます。このフレキシブルさは非常にありがたかったです。

・学生寮と周りの環境
もともと市内で部屋を借りる予定でしたが短期での賃貸契約が上手く行かなかったので、学生寮があって良かったです。学校と同じビル内にあり、平日は食堂が利用できるので、食と住にはほぼ困りません。自炊はできませんが、お部屋の清掃もしてもらえます。トイレとシャワーの距離が近いことに少し戸惑いましたが、そのうち慣れます。ショッピングモールや地下鉄の駅も徒歩圏内にあるので、とても生活しやすかったです。休日は観劇や鳥カフェに行ったりしていました。

I was going to be staying in Kunming for a long period of time on a business trip, and I was looking for a place where I could study business Chinese while working. I would recommend this place not only to students but also to working adults. I hope this will be helpful for those considering studying abroad in Yunnan.

・One-on-one face-to-face lessons
The course content will be adjusted based on the individual student's level and needs.

The classes were basically conducted according to the textbook, but I wanted to improve my conversation skills, so I told the class in advance. The teacher didn't focus on the pace of the class and let us speak freely, so I was able to learn about cultural differences through casual conversation, which I feel helped improve my oral communication. In addition, we were taken to museums and markets in Kunming as extracurricular activities. In addition to classroom learning, you can experience the lives, history, and culture of the local people with your own eyes.

・Flexible class schedule
There were a few times when I had to miss a few days of class due to business trips, but I was able to coordinate with the teacher and take make-up classes at a different time. I really appreciated this flexibility.

・Student dormitory and surrounding environment
I originally planned to rent a room in the city, but finding a short-term lease didn't work out, so I was glad to find a student dormitory. It's in the same building as the school, and the cafeteria is open on weekdays, so food and housing are virtually non-issues. While you can't cook for yourself, your room is cleaned. I was a little confused by the proximity of the toilet and shower, but I got used to it after a while. Shopping malls and subway stations are also within walking distance, so it was very convenient to live here. On my days off, I would go to the theater or the bird cafe.

The classes are great and very helpful, I came after already studying Chinese for a few years and the daily classes and immersion really helped me take my language skills to the next level. Also getting to live in Kunming is really great. It’s an amazing city that is easy to get around, a lot of good food, really kind people and everything is very affordable! My teacher was very good, very passionate and patient. She did a good job of finding my problem areas and focusing on them. We worked together to correct a lot of bad habits and weak spots I had picked up from a few years of just learning from apps and YouTube. I had no problems with the accommodations. The gym is nice and well equipped. I was able to use it every day. There are many delicious restaurants within walking distance and a 24hr convenience store right down stairs, so I really had everything I needed

My experience in Keats School in Kunming has been unforgettable. My teacher 周乙 -(Amber) is amazing, she has adapted the lessons to my current level, paying special attention to the aspects I asked her to practise more as listening and pronunciation. Thanks to her I have improved a lot my fluency. Also, our adviser Yurina is always willing to help students, she's a great support for us. Food is fresh and tasty and the school is located in a nice district. The school’s facilities are good enough to make the stay pleasant. I definitely would come back to this school.

Our family first moved to Kunming in 2017. We knew we wanted to learn the language. My husband first enrolled at Keats as a full-time language student for over a year. His experience was so positive that we decided our whole family could benefit from classes at Keats. So I enrolled along with our four children for classes a couple times a week. Keats has always been flexible with our schedule and provided excellent communication with us. The teachers are fantastic and have great, engaging lessons! We all made great progress in our language studies there. Very thankful we found this school!

Ho studiato cinese con Kiki alla Keats school per tre settimane a Kunming e posso dire che il mio livello è migliorato tantissimo in pochissimo tempo. In meno di un mese ho acquisito più sicurezza nel parlare, una migliore comprensione della grammatica e soprattutto più fluidità nell’esprimermi.

È un’insegnante molto paziente, attenta e capace di adattare le lezioni alle reali esigenze dello studente. Spiega in modo chiaro, usa molti esempi pratici e rende le lezioni coinvolgenti e mai noiose. Mi ha aiutata non solo con il cinese “da libro”, ma anche con quello realmente usato nella vita quotidiana aggiungendo ogni venerdì gite in giro per la città per testare il mio cinese anche con le persone del posto!!

Studiare con Kiki alla Keats school di Kunming è stata un’esperienza davvero preziosa e la consiglio assolutamente a chiunque voglia migliorare il proprio cinese in modo efficace e concreto.

I studied Chinese with Kiki at the Keats School in Kunming for three weeks, and I can say that my level improved dramatically in a very short time. In less than a month, I gained more confidence in speaking, a better understanding of grammar, and above all, greater fluency in expressing myself.

She is a very patient and attentive teacher, capable of adapting lessons to the student's real needs. She explains clearly, uses many practical examples, and makes the lessons engaging and never boring. She helped me not only with textbook Chinese, but also with the Chinese I would actually use in everyday life, including trips around the city every Friday to test my Chinese with locals!

The teacher I had was excellent and other students had the same experience with their teachers. Highly recommend and likely will be back.
