An incredible summer adventure

After going on an exchange program in Bangkok, I have been actively pursuing ways to come back to Thailand again and again. This internship program made me felt at home in Thailand. I really enjoyed this program especially the people, the culture and social practices in Thailand. First of all, this program matched me with the perfect internship company in the education field. It allowed me to learn from the best professionals in the education field and expanding my social network. Through my internship, I was able to participate in incredible workshops in the chosen field and meet lots of awesome people.

The program also came with weekly networking and career developing events. These were valuable opportunities to get to hear from leading professionals in different areas. I got a chance to socialise with other interns from the globe too, which is always a plus. Another highlight would be cultural excursion. The internship team took us to different parts of Bangkok. Students were able to explore the beauty of this city and appreciate its history.

The internship team was very friendly. They are always there for any help and support even after the end of the internship.

Next Step Impact

The Next Step team in Bangkok, Thailand was incredible! PA and Jason were extremely helpful and always showed an effort to help and excel. They always seemed to show an understanding hand in even the most difficult scenarios. This proved to be crucial in prospering in a country like Thailand, for conditions can get very tough and challenging. Thankfully however, the Next Step team provided all the tools and resources to alleviate all said conditions. I highly recommend anyone who is looking for a personal development experience to go through this program. Not only did the program leaving highly satisfied, but I left with friends and cherished memories. From words of appreciation and help to gestures of empathy and kindness, this program provides the complete package.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Great Thai internship expereience

The staff in Next Step Connection is really passionate and helpful. The whole program is comprehensive and supportive. I don't need to worry about the housing and day trips problem, as NSC help us to manage them well. All in all, it's great and worth to join. Besides, the startup culture is really different compared with the corporate. For those who would like to have your own business and never travel to thailand before, this program is exactly tailor-made for you and me, which kill two birds with one stone. When you prepare the application, you can select which industry and department you would like to join, NSC will help you arrange an interview with the related companies and provide you the basic information of the posts. The whole application process is easy and smooth.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't need to worry much on the external stuff, for example, food, housing, etc. NSC will help you settle everything. Yet it's better to prepare your positive and inclusive attitude to learn from your boss and the indigenous.

Best Global Experience!

This program was one of the best and structured ones around! The staff was so hands-on that I truly felt like I was with my friends and family back home. Mahidol is a great school and the leaders of the program helped me find activities, clubs, and more-tennis club for me!

One of the great problems myself and fellow students faced was how to manage our time in Thailand. One piece of advice I was given- the best- by the program was " Don't try and cram everything into one day; instead choose one meaningful activity or adventure and you will feel more accomplished/ happier with your time spent. Thailand has options for everyone- nightlife, beaches, escapes, etc. With the help of the staff, they truly made me time worthwhile and I wish I could do it over again/:

What would you improve about this program?
I really wish I could say there should be an improvement but I cannot. It was affordable, accommodating, and now have lifelong memories.

An Experience You DON’T Want to Miss

I would 100% recommend this program if you are looking to study abroad somewhere different and more exciting than Thailand. Make sure to come here with an open mind so you are able to take in and learn as much as possible as many things here in Thailand are much different than the Western world.

One of the directors of this program, Aaron (or P.A. as the Thai’s and students call him), is absolutely incredible and will do anything and everything for the students to make them feel comfortable and welcome. I learned so much from Aaron and I cannot thank him enough.

The university is great as well and has a very beautiful campus just outside of the city. It’s far enough out of the hustle and bustle of Bangkok but also still just a quick 15-20min taxi ride or a cheap 45min-1hr bus ride away.

I loved this program so much I decided to come back and live in Thailand for another year! I have been here for the last 16 months and have enjoyed all of my time here in Bangkok and Southeast Asia.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Make sure to go into this with an open mind. There are so many things about Thai culture you just will not understand if you think like a western person.

2 months in Bangkok

Bangkok was an amazing experience. I had a great boss that catered unique projects to my skillset, because of this, I was able to learn a lot on the job. It was an awesome and unique experience, where I was challenged in various areas. I was able to complete complex tasks rather than clerical duties. For example, I was tasked with a research project regarding the implementation of blockchain in various industries, such as insurance and music. I studied its potential effects and how it will affect their financials. After this, I made financial models to value what the projects and companies would be worth today, such as a DCF model and NPV-IRR models.

On top of that, I was able to explore Bangkok and Thailand with Nexstep. We went to a lot of different places and ate a lot of good food - places I probably wouldn't have gone to on my own, but I am so glad I was able to travel to these places. Such as Ayutthaya and various small restaurants around Bangkok.

Bangkok is such a special place with incredible people. Everyone was nice and friendly, and all the food was delicious!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Exotic fruits - mangosteen and lychee. They are not very popular or feasible in America.

Review-Shanghai internship

It is a good experience for me to participate in this summer internship program. And it is an opportunity for me to intern in two different companies in different industries. One is Huaxia Finance in the financial industry, and another one is Jingdigital for marketing tasks. In JINGdigital, I learned the general operation about the marketing department, and study some marketing knowledge, especially in content marketing and marketing automation. Otherwise, I am being given so much responsibility and room to grow. And interns are treated like any other employees in the company and allows you to understand the role of full-time employees. Nice experience.

What would you improve about this program?
To improve this program, it is recommended to provide more company choices in every industry.

Internship of Daxue Consulting

Daxue Consulting is a market research company located in Shanghai, and it mainly focuses on the market development and strategies in the Chinese market. I was honored to be assigned to the marketing group and worked to search relevant materials and data to write out articles with insights into the Chinese market. To finish the articles, I need to search for news, data, and relevant articles to have inspirations and choose a suitable topic to describe a specific area of the Chinese market. Then I must use different data source with a cross-check to obtain reliable data, and then use the data as supportive proofs to showcase the company's views of a certain sphere of the Chinese market. By now, I have finished totally 5 articles about spirits, IPO, negative list, sports multi-media, and Huawei-ban.

What would you improve about this program?
I have improved the ability of searching data, concluding, and SEO.

Internship Program

The internship has been a month. Open communication was one of the strongest and most apparent skills that I learned during my internship. When I first started interning, I was intimidated and nervous to ask too many questions because I didn’t want to admit that I didn’t understand or that I needed extra help with something. Luckily I got over that fear quickly because asking questions is the only way to learn what you are really supposed to be doing. I found that my boss and fellow staff members appreciated it more if I asked too many questions to make sure I really understood what it was doing and that I did it correctly. If I had not worked with such cooperative and helpful people, I probably would have been too intimidated to ask questions in my next job. Now that I know it is not bad to ask questions, I won’t have to struggle with it in my future job. Without open communication between everyone in an office, I don’t see how any work can be done.

I am very grateful to the internship unit for providing me with such a good internship opportunity. Through this, I have definitely gained valuable work experience, and grew as an individual.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Actually before the internship, I feel worried for my hotel. Because compare the study tour we are not good. But not bad when I lived in. It's amazing.
