Intern Group Australia

My program length was only 6 weeks - unfortunately, I couldn't stay any longer than that! I met a lot of really nice and fun people on this trip, and the included events that I was able to attend were amazing. My favorite was the wildlife experience one - I want to take a wallaby home with me now. My internship really helped me progress professionally, and I'm now able to say that I have extremely relevant experience to my career field. I learned a lot!

Awesome Experience

The Intern Group facilitated an awesome internship experience. Dublin was, of course, incredible and the internship itself was really interesting and provided me with a lot of useful skills and introduced me to a different working culture. The other people on the program were interesting and fun, and I made some good friends. But the part of the program that blew me away the most was how helpful, nice, and engaged the program coordinators were. I think what really sets this program apart from other ones is that the coordinators make you feel like they actually care about you. My group was about 40 people, with two more groups arriving while I was there, so without a doubt they certainly had their hands full. But if I had any questions (ranging from what to do if I burned my hand to where to buy Jello), I could just ask my coordinators and they would be back within minutes with an answer. They're also just legitimately fun people, exactly the kind you'd want to grab a pint and chat with.
Overall, it was an awesome experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Best Experience!

The Intern Group did an amazing job at placing me with my internship. It’s as if they really knew who I was and what would be best for me. The internship I had was truly life changing and I owe it all to The Intern Group. Our accommodations were also great. We stayed in a more residential part of Hong Kong which was great because we were able to go to the island when we wanted to with ease, but didn’t have to live among the crazy bustle of the city at all times. The Intern Group gave me life long friends and experiences that I wouldn’t trade for the world. They treated us with respect and like adults which you don’t always find in an organized group setting. If you have the means and the opportunity to, please go to Hong Kong with The Intern Group—you won’t regret your decision.

What would you improve about this program?
I worked on Saturdays and so I lost a lot of money because I couldn’t do the excursions and I would have either liked a refund or would have liked TIG to be more aware of the days/hours of the job they place us in since they are the ones that placed us.

International Networking

This experience provided insights and experiences that were unlikely to have been found otherwise. Through networking with coworkers and other members of the program in my major, insights of engineers from all over Europe, the United States, and Asia formulated an image of how different cultures can shape an engineer. By working at a small start-up company, I had a feeling that I was directly contributing and benefitting the company and that I played an important role in the development of their product. This is something I did not feel at a large corporation. My only regrets about doing this program was that I did not stay longer. Seriously, it’s worth it.

Incredible Experience

The Intern Group did an above and beyond job from the application process till my last day abroad in guaranteeing an exceptional program. Everything was handled well and efficiently from housing, to support, transportation and safety precautions. Then having the opportunity to make connections and friendships with interns from all over the globe and the locals is more than I could've ever asked. But the best part was the internship itself, the team did a great job in finding me what I wanted and, connecting me a wonderful organization. I know that I will always have a home here in Colombia!

Shanghai Internship

I had a great time in my 6 months in Shanghai. During the stay, I was well looked after by Tommy and Olivia who organised regular events and informed us of any other activities happening around the city that may be of interest. They also provided helpful suggestions in regards to recommendations of restaurants and where to go during the long weekends. I was doing meaningful work at the company I was interning at (BlockAero), who provided me with valuable experience in regards to software development. I look forward to coming back to Shanghai soon!

Experience of a lifetime

When I first started my internship with The Intern Group, I would never have guessed it would change my life the way it did. Both professionally and personally. And I can honestly say, I would not have wanted it any other way.

My internship in Toronto has taught me so much about the art of entrepreneurship. I did my internship at a small co-working space that had diceded to close during my internship. It has shown me
that entrepreneurship is about ups and downs and that you have to go through the difficult parts to reach the top.

Apart from the professional experience, The Intern Group also played a huge role in my personal experience. I would not have been able to handle everything without the people from TIG.
From the moment I landed in Toronto, everybody from TIG has been absolutely amazing! The way they navigated me through my culture shock, helped me understand the cultural differences and most importantly, were there when I needed them. They always listened to all my struggles and helped me get over them.

Toronto it self is an amazing city where there is always something going on. From free music festivals to parades that take over the streets. There was never a dull moment while walking the streets or riding the subway of Toronto.

And last but certainly not least, I want to give a huge thank you and big should out to the best experience coordinator I could have asked for: Vanessa! She has been so much more than just an experience coordinator. She has been my rock, my sound board, my personal cheerleader but most of all a best friend. It is impossible not to fall in love with her when you first meet her.

The complete experience & recommendations

As a 4th (going to 5th) year student, I have faced several highs and lows throughout university. Before coming to Barcelona, I had worked at two internships, one in Puerto Rico and one in New Jersey. Even though I have this experience, why did I choose to continue on to doing an international internship in Barcelona?
Initially, I really wanted to leave my comfort zone and do an exchange but I wasn't fond of being such a long time studying away from home and I also thought of vacationing here but I wouldn't be ale to live like a local. So doing an international internship was the best of both worlds.
I'm an engineering student and I came here for 10 weeks. Work culture here in general is very different than in PR and the US and it's great to have been able to experience it.
Barcelona is an amazing city with a relaxed feel to it. There's something here for everybody, although a lot of tourists come to Barcelona, living here for the summer immerses you to find opportunities to do things that locals do and see how people live as oppose to what you're normally used to.

Things you must do: Eat tomato bread (ask a local to see if they can teach you how to make it) and olives, visit "Los bunkers de carmel", go to Barceloneta beach, Castelldefels beach, Sitges beach, Shop at local markets (the closest one near me was Mercat Hostafrancs near Sants. La boqueria and Mercat Sant Antoni are some of the larger ones), get bread at bakeries, find festivals (The intern group guide suggests many of them and they are worth it!), museums are great too, and many more things.

My recommendations: Come to Barcelona with an open mind to any problem that comes, there's always a way to communicate and find a solution and you'll get the most enjoyment and learning out of being here. Planning out your weeks will help a lot but have flexibility in case anything pops up last minute.

What would you improve about this program?
A more specific explanation of whats included in terms of cultural events and the flat would eliminate any confusion. Several interns have commented to me that they're paying a ton and "nothing is included" (which i believe is not true, they just don't make the most of what they have).
But it would help

Great Experience

This trip has exceeded my expectations! I was worried about getting connected with a group of friends, but I was surrounded by a great group of interns from all over the world almost immediately. The living accommodations are spectacular and I am enjoying my internship and learning lots of new things. Overall, I feel this trip has helped me grow as a person, as well as in my career! I would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Professional Growth and Development - Above and Beyond! (Business Analyst/ Database Management Intern)

(This is a completely honest and unbiased review)

Normally, I wouldn't trust internship agencies/companies prior to my experience with The Intern Group. However post this internship, I have to mention that my experience has been truly memorable and I have been quite impressed with the level of attention and dedication provided by the people responsible for this program. Completely opposite to my apprehensions about whatever was promised to be provided as a part of this package, I can firmly attest to the fact that this organization has surpassed my expectations. Their responsibility doesn't end at the point where they find the internship for you. They value their clients and pay personal attention to the progress and well-being of each of their interns. They are ever ready to assist you in case something goes wrong or unplanned. Under such care, one never feels alone in the city. They take the time to personally attend to each and everyone and make sure that the intern is happy and satisfied with their work life.

I would thank Lalita, Laura, Irene and Béatriz personally for their dedication and efforts towards my overall well-being while I was in Madrid. It truly felt like I was being taken care of by my family! They always understood my needs and encouraged me to move ahead towards my goal. They were quite friendly too and made me feel at ease so I could share every problem of mine with them and seek valuable advice! Even when I fell sick and needed to visit the hospital, I received a lot of support from the team, like negotiating and reducing my work hours for a week till I was fit again.

I have learned a lot about facing challenges in work place and how to overcome them and focus on the objective at hand. As a 19 year old, who is quite new to the professional world, I can confidently say that this was an excellent head-start to integrate internationally and learn a lot about real work life! Surely the best investment I have made until now to gain a ton of experiences for my professional and personal development! Obviously a 10/10 experience!

What would you improve about this program?
My only advice would be to continue this excellent service forever! Good luck to the entire team!
(P.S - I don't take photos/videos but rest assured, Madrid is a beautiful place to be in)
