The best week of my life!!

I had the absolute best time with Travel for Teens on the sea turtle service and adventure trip to Hawaii! It was the best experience that I have ever had and I was truly so lucky to get to go. Not only were our counselors amazing, but they made sure our trip was over the top outstanding and it completely was! It had the best mix of service and adventure. And the service was fun, but also hands on. We felt like we were able to make a difference. I am so happy that I got to make friends from all different backgrounds that I will keep and cherish forever. I recommend this program so much and I am so lucky that I got to go!!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
When we were in maui, we were driving back to our resort from just being out doing service. We stopped to stretch our legs at a beach and we got to watch a bunch of green sea turtles beach themselves. It was the most amazing thing ever. They just sat there and were so unbothered and we got to watch some of the little ones swim in the water!!
Pros
  • Amazing opportunities for service.
  • Trying new things
  • Making new friends who have the same intrests.
Cons
  • It was only 10 days. Wished it was longer!
  • Only four days in one island compared to six days in the next.
  • No one wanted to leave 😢

Best trip of my life!!

My Italy trip with Travel For Teens was honestly incredible. It was so fun that we got to see many different parts of Italy. Every place was so beautiful and had something unique and special about it. TFT puts so much thought into creating trips that are both exciting and meaningful. The activities were always interesting and gave us the chance to experience the culture in real life, not just as a tourist. I loved that we had a good mix of structured adventures and free time, which made it easy to explore, take photos, and make memories with friends. I would definitely recommend Travel For Teens for anyone who wants an amazing trip.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I did this trip again, I would bring a journal or something to write down all my experiences every day. There were so many amazing moments, and it would have been fun to remember them all in more detail.

Such an amazing week!

Such a fun week, I got to learn a lot from the counselors, other teenagers, and the locals! It was so fun to get to experience the culture of a country that wasn't mine and it truly taught me so much about myself and the world around me. The counselors were so nice and helpful and it was so great getting to talk to them about their experiences. My parents were also very happy with communication that they received from the counselors during my time on the trip. They had lots of updates on the trip as well as pictures sent to them.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-wracking moment was paragliding and I overcame this by having fun and just going for it.
Pros
  • People
  • Schedule
  • Activities
Cons
  • Weather
  • Jet Lag

Amazing Trip!

This is my first trip with TFT, and I went by myself. We were super busy the whole time with tons of amazing opportunities. I’d say my favorite day was kayaking to an island that we snorkel from, and saw tons of tropical fish. It was really cool to meet new people and try new foods. Though I didn’t love the people, all of the tour guides were amazing and I will try again next year in Greece and Italy. Navigating the airport and independently figuring things out was really a great experience. I would recommend for anyone who wants to get away and try something new.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My most nerve-racking moment was white water rafting down a more private river. It was raining, and the water level was really high. Of course, the guides knew exactly how to get through the waves. It was still really scary, though, and one girl fell out. Even though it was pretty terrifying, it was in a really fun way.
Pros
  • The unique food options
  • Meeting new people
  • The guides were amazing
Cons
  • Didn’t quite love the other travelers
  • Some people were hard to get along with
  • Early mornings

Japan experience

This was such a great opportunity to learn more about japan’s cultural Heritage as well as making lifelong memories and friends. I never thought I could have this much fun on a trip and has been the best experience to date. All the counsellors were wonderful and kind and caring and helped with whatever you needed. 10/10 I would recommend to anyone! there is so much food that I’ve tried there that I never thought I would try anywhere else, not only this it also helped give me a really good résumé for my colleges I’m applying for as well as job offers because it provides a well balanced routine of learning and exploring

What was your funniest moment?
my funniest moment was making my friend Mason try the hottest lip plumper we found at this convenience store and watch him tear up over it. I also loved trying the weird food that you would find at the 7-Eleven gas stations and watching the reactions from my friends
Pros
  • build a great résumé for colleges and potential job offers
  • provides a out of world experience that many are lucky to have
  • lifelong memories and great opportunities

Fun trip

I had an incredibly fun time traveling to Spain and Portugal with TFT. My trip to Spain and Portugal was incredibly fun. The places we went to and things we saw and activities we did were all very fun and I ended even up enjoying things I thought I wouldn’t like just because the people around me and the environment was so great. The counselors definitely cared about our safety and I felt very safe and in good hands with TFT but they were still fun and nice and I bonded with them as well as the other kids. We didn’t have to spend too much money as the counselors paid for breakfast, dinner, and all the activites we did that weren’t optional. While it can seem daunting to be in another country with random teens you’ve never met it is incredibly worth it to go on a TFT tour and I have made many new friends from it. I especially recommend the Spain and Portugal trip because the beautiful beaches, incredible museums, and the architecture and food all came together to give me an unforgettable experience.

Impact in the Outback

Going to Australia and New Zealand was honestly one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. Paragliding was insane, definitely the most unforgettable part, and getting to see kangaroos and koalas up close felt like something out of a movie. We spent time planting trees, which was actually really cool and made me feel like I was doing something good for the environment. Exploring Sydney, climbing the Harbor Bridge, and going to a rugby game gave me a real feel for the culture. Every day was packed with something new, and I still think about it all the time.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I could do this trip all over again, I’d try to be more open from the start and connect with my group sooner. I did make friends and had some great moments with people, but I think I held back a little in the beginning. Everyone was experiencing the same incredible things, and I wish I’d shared more of that with them. Still, I wouldn’t change anything else—paragliding was unreal, planting trees felt meaningful, and exploring Sydney and catching a rugby game made the whole trip unforgettable. It was fun, eye-opening, and something I’ll always look back on with a smile.
Pros
  • Great group
  • Fun actives
  • Great counselors
Cons
  • Early Mornings
  • Constantly moving

Great Time in the Mediterranean!

Wow! This was such a great trip! I visited both Greece and Italy and loved them! I was very impressed with both Travel For Teens as a company, and the experiences they put together as a trip. When it comes to the company, everyone was super easy to get ahold of and communicate with. Everyone I have emailed have been so kind and helpful. On top of that, I loved my counselors so much! This trip was for finishing grades 9 and 10. My counselors did a great job of not 'babying' us, while still being clear with their expectations. They could have real conversations with us, but also had clear rules when it came to things like safety and kindness. They were also adaptive and could listen to our opinions. For example, one day we were all exhausted after an amazing activity, then walked the 20 minutes to our hotel in the hot sun. We were supposed to leave again that evening, walk all the way back to town, and get dinner. Instead, they recognized that it had been a tiring day for all of us, so they ordered take-out Italian pizza and salads and we all ate together at the hotel overlooking the Mediterranean. We played games and all had a much better time than if we had walked back into town. Additionally, the food, activities, and accommodations throughout the trip were great. We were in Greece and Italy, so the food would be hard to mess up, but this trip brought me to some of the best, while still reasonably affordable, restaurants across these countries. Probably my favorite activity of this trip was the cooking class. It was such a fun experience and the food was delicious. Most breakfasts were basic but satisfactory hotel buffets, lunches were on-the-go food- pizzas, paninis, gelato, etc., and dinners were more the time for an official Italian meal. My counselors always made sure we weren't hungry and would let us order more if we were. The activities were so fun too! I loved all the guided tours we went on, beaches we stopped at, boat rides, and just exploring the cities. The hotels we stayed at were also great. They were comfortable and felt safe, and were in walking distance of most activities and sites. When we did need transportation between cities throughout the trip, we took comfortable Coach buses. I loved my trip so much! It was such a fun experience that I would highly recommend! I will definitely be going on another TFT trip next year!

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I tried these fruity-jelly squares at an Italian gas station. They were covered in powdered sugar and I had never seen anything like them before. They weren't my favorite, but I totally see how others would love them!
Pros
  • Great counselors
  • Fun activities
  • Coach buses
Cons
  • Large enough groups that you might not love everyone you are traveling with
  • Goes by quickly
  • Need to walk to most activities

Travel for Teens Costa Rica Adventure and Service

This past summer I had the opportunity to go on Costa Rica Adventure and Service through TFT! I had the best time, it’s truly hard to put into words. I had the pleasure to participate in a number of unique activities such as white water rafting, snorkeling, surfing and more. I was able to try new foods and learn about new cultures, while helping the community I was visiting. Throughout all of this, I was able to make 11 new best friends. I highly recommend this program and I cannot wait for my next trip with TFT this summer!

What was your funniest moment?
The funniest moment was creating inside jokes with our friends and using them all throughout the trip

The Trip of a Lifetime

This was the trip that I will never forget. It sounds almost crazy, to be traveling alone at a young age to another country, but it teaches you so much. I learned to be present in the moment, how to be comfortable when being put out of my comfort zone, and so much more. I made countless memories, and became close with every teen and counselor within only 13 days. I still communicate with most of the teens that were on this trip, to this day. I was fortunate enough to do service at two schools in Costa Rica, and communicate with these students in Spanish, as well as teach them some english. We were able to see the lives of these students, and benefit their environment for school. One of our counselors always picked who would stay in the room together, so everyone was able to get to know one another. We went white water rafting, and stayed in these beautiful ecolodges along the river. We went ziplining, surfing, snorkeling, and we were able to go in the hot springs at one of the most active volcanoes in the world. Also, the food was incredible, everything was so fresh and delicious. This trip was just so wonderful, it almost felt like a dream. I will never forget the late night talks with everyone, the bus rides, inside jokes, and so much more! This truly was the trip of a lifetime, that I will never forget.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers with Travel for Teens, is to just do it! I was nervous about going on the longest trip i’ve ever been on with teens i’ve never met. But, just understand everyone is in the same situation as you are. It was nerve wracking at first, but don’t let the nerves set you back. I promise, this will be a trip you never forget, the experiences, memories, and skills you learn are wonderful. I promise, you will have so much fun, and even create lifelong friendships.
