London Internship

I thought Beyond Academy did an excellent job while I was in London, planning events and keeping everyone really excited about being in London. it was nice to never feel alone in a big city where I didn't really know anyone and I had a lovely time getting to know the other interns and my coworkers. The community coordinators were great and were super helpful with recommendations of things to do and I liked that they were young too, so it didn't feel like we were being bossed around by a bunch of adults. I thought the initial process of finding an internship was quite what I was expecting. On the website, it seems like you'll be meeting with people to help figure out what you want, etc, but it was just me submitting videos answering questions and emailing back and forth with people. I would've loved to have been able to do a phone/video call to get some things sorted out. The visa process was also a nightmare for me and my contact from BA who was supposed to help me wasn't all that helpful. This made me a bit worried, but it is an expensive program, but I do think my experience once being in London made up for it, because everything was great from then on.

Pros
  • Knowing you have someone there to help if you need anything in an unfamiliar place
  • Meet so many interesting people from around the world
Cons
  • During the initial internship matching process, I thought it was a bit difficult to have efficient communication, as sometimes it would take days to get an email response
  • The visa process was stressful and I felt like the Beyond contact I had wasn't really helpful in that regard

Review

The program and the supervisors were professionally assisting me from the very start of the application to the end when I was leaving Seoul. My internship was amazing as it was exactly the right atmosphere I hoped for. I did not only work in a creative environment learning stuff but also explored Seoul and had a lot of fun both working and exploring/partying in Seoul. I met many interesting people not only from my job but also meeting and talking to other interns in different fields was very insightful.

Pros
  • Finding a job
  • Getting to know the city
  • Friendly environment
Cons
  • Sometimes stressful to combine work and social life

Great Experience!

My experience with Beyond Academy, specifically Seoul, has been absolutely amazing. Not only are the on-site coordinators friendly and supportive but they are extremely accommodating and go above and beyond to make sure your time there is meaningful. I was able to find a great internship opportunity and the Beyond community made the transition into a professional environment very seamless and a lot less daunting than I imagined. Additionally, there is just the perfect amount of cultural experiences that are organized by the Beyond team that allow you to enjoy the city.

Pros
  • Amazing support by on-site coordinators
  • Great way to meet other interns and connect with professionals
  • You get to experience cultural activities while engaging in a meaningful internship experience

Internship in Seoul

I have been in Seoul for 2.5 weeks and it has been amazing. I have learned so much in my field of industry in terms of academics and culture which I never would have experienced before. I’ve gained ultimate independence which has helped me reflect on my character and personality. I have also met some really friendly, helpful and open minded people that I truly consider friends. Beyond Academy gives you the freedom to design your internship the way you want and prioritises your needs which is why it is suited for everyone!

Pros
  • cultural awakening
  • future directed
Cons
  • overwhelming

An Amazing Experience

This is a great way to develop your resume while exploring a new place. I really enjoyed my experience with this program. They did a great job finding me an internship that suited my interests. The accommodation they found for me was a nice place with a short commute to the company I was placed with. They hosted weekly events where you could get to know other interns and explore the city. They provided lots of information about each part of the process and were very helpful whenever I had questions.

Pros
  • Great and easy way to find an internship abroad
  • Fun events to meet people from different places
  • Lots of resources provided with the program
Cons
  • A bit on the pricey side

it was pretty fun

The program was fun. They have events lined up for you, and I got to meet great people to hang out with over the program. They're pretty good at finding what's trendy at the moment and recommend events outside of the program as well. Regarding internships, they found one for me pretty fast, and it was with a great start-up in a nice working environment (for context, I'm an architecture student btw, might be different for other industries). Overall, great!

Pros
  • Internship Procurement
  • Event Programming

Didn’t want to leave!

Everyone was very kind and helpful! Lots of great suggestions and advice from all! This was my first time away from home since COVID got in the way of moving out for college. I didn’t get homesick the way I thought I would and it was all thanks to the community and support I had. There is lots to do and 8 weeks went by very quickly! There are so many things to see and do in Korea and great food and people. I can’t wait to go back for a visit and see all of the friends I have made. This was a great opportunity I am glad it went so well!

Pros
  • Great support
  • Friendly environment

Internship in Seoul

The price tag is scary, but the experience was definitely worth it. Overall, it's been a really great experience and I enjoy the company I'm interning at. BA has events twice a week, which helps you get to know the city, have meaningful experiences and grow professionally, and keeps you in contact with the other interns, which I find really beneficial. I will say, there was some radio silence between when I got my internship placement and the weeks before departure which made me a bit anxious, but everything worked out. My parents were worried about this being a scam as well since they hadn't heard of BA at all, but the Seoul coordinator Alize and the global coordinator Anne Marie set up a zoom call with them to answer any questions that they had (thank you both so much for that again). The one downside I've had was with housing, as I had some issues that BA couldn't do anything about (the housing put me in a temporary room the first night because my actual room wasn't ready, and then tried to move me again for a maintenance issue they decided they could fix after I move out all within the first 4 days I was there) that was really stressful and the location of the housing from work is pretty far (about a 50 minute subway ride). But overall, really great experience and I feel like I've grown a lot as a professional in my preferred field!

Pros
  • Professional growth
  • Events keep you connected with other interns and help you get to know the city
  • BA coordinators make you feel supported
Cons
  • Housing issues left me very stressed and the location is pretty far

Work from home

My experience was unique because they fit the programme around me, so when I could start, the hours I could work and where I could work from. They were also very helpful on getting me ready for the interviews and have checked up on me continuously throughout the programme and making sure I am getting the experience I need. They are also very helpful on helping to try and find a job after I will have completed my internship. They have done this with career coaching which is extremely helpful with tips and how to find jobs and what I should do when I have found them.

Tokyo Program

Amazing experience all around, great supporting program staff who are always available for any help. Tokyo is a great city to intern in as not only is it super safe it is also a great place to learn professional skills and mannerisms.
For me it’s always been a goal to visit Tokyo and the experience I received allowed to me experience it in the most fulfilling way. There is never a shortage of things to do and of course the food is second to none. Overall an excellent internship program for anyone looking to intern in Japan.

Pros
  • Safety
  • Great Transport
  • Plenty of activities
Cons
  • Some communication problems
