An Insightful Experience with World TESOL Academy

I didn’t start my journey as a teacher in the usual way. My background is in Japanese literature, not education, and even though I was confident in my English, I often found myself unsure about how to actually teach it. I learned bits and pieces through experience, standing in front of students, trying different approaches—but something always felt missing. I knew the language, but I wanted to understand the foundation behind teaching it.

That’s when I came across World TESOL Academy.

At first, what caught my attention was how affordable it was. I thought, “Why not give it a try?” But what I didn’t expect was how much I would actually gain from it.

As I started the course, I noticed how thoughtfully everything was structured. Instead of feeling overwhelmed, each part felt like a small, achievable step. It didn’t feel like I was drowning in theory—instead, it felt like I was building my understanding little by little, day by day. That made a huge difference for me.

Another thing I really appreciated was the language used throughout the course. As a non-native English speaker, I sometimes worry about overly complex explanations, but everything here was clear and easy to follow. It made learning feel comfortable, not intimidating.

There were also moments when I ran into technical issues or had questions. Each time, I reached out to the tutors, and they responded quickly with helpful answers. Knowing that support was always there gave me the confidence to keep going.

And the videos—they added so much value. They didn’t just explain concepts; they helped me see how those concepts work in real teaching situations. It made everything feel more practical and applicable.

Looking back, this wasn’t just a course for me—it was a turning point. It helped bridge the gap between knowing a language and knowing how to teach it. And for someone like me, coming from a completely different background, that meant a lot.

My review of the course

I had a seemingly smooth experience the course was easy to navigate the course information was clear and easy to understand, the online chat is an amazing feature as you can request for assistance almost immediately and your work barely get held up, I learnt a lot of information that we as native English speakers sometimes take for granted. I would highly recommend this course to peers or to anyone who is interested in learning and or teaching English, be it for online teaching or even going to teach abroad.

Great Overall

It helped solidify things I already had experience with as well as give me new ideas and knowledge. The online teaching part felt irrelevant to me but I see why it could be useful for others and is a good addition to an otherwise good course. Precise and to the point with short tests at the end of each module which really helped for the final test.

A Practical and Insightful Course for ESL Teaching

I recently completed this course and found it to be both practical and highly relevant to real classroom teaching. The course provided a clear and well-structured overview of essential teaching concepts, including lesson planning, classroom management, and effective teaching methodologies such as PPP, TTT, and TBL.

What I appreciated most was how the content balanced theory with practical application. The examples and scenarios helped me reflect on my own teaching experience, and I was able to immediately connect the material to my work teaching both adults and young learners.

The course also reinforced the importance of student-centered learning, effective communication, and adapting lessons to different learner needs and contexts. I particularly found the sections on classroom management, motivation, and teaching techniques to be very useful and applicable.

Overall, I would highly recommend this course to both new and experienced teachers who are looking to strengthen their teaching foundation and gain more confidence in the classroom.

What would you improve about this program?
As someone with teaching experience, I found the course content very clear and useful as a refresher. However, I believe it could be further enhanced by incorporating more advanced, real-life classroom scenarios and practical teaching demonstrations. This would help bridge the gap between theory and application, particularly for teachers looking to refine their skills.

Additionally, the course was quite text-heavy at times. Including more visual elements such as images, charts, and diagrams would make the content more engaging and easier to follow, while also supporting different learning styles.

Teacher review of 120-hour certificate

4 stars
I think this course was well put together, easy to complete, and worth the cost. I come from a BEd background and was worried that I would just be reading through information I already know, but I was pleasantly surprised. I learnt the most during the grammar modules and appreciated the practical advice for ESL lesson planning. The module on teaching online was also very informative.
The learning platform is very self-explanatory and easy to use; it hardly ever logged me out, which I appreciated.

What would you improve about this program?
I think the course could be improved by updating it slightly. There were references that felt a bit outdated (like Facebook), and there's no mention of AI or other new technologies.
Pros
  • Self paced
  • Easy to understand Language
  • Quick response to questions
Cons
  • No way to interact with other participants

The course was well-structured, easy to follow, and flexible enough to fit into my schedule. I especially appreciated the practical lessons on classroom management and lesson planning, which I can apply directly in teaching.

Overall, the program helped me gain confidence in teaching English, particularly in cross-cultural settings. While adding more interactive elements like video demonstrations could improve the experience, I would still recommend WorldTESOLAcademy to anyone looking for a solid and convenient TESOL course.

Easy to access, understand, and benefit from. Would recommend!
I recently completed the TESOL/TEFL course with World TESOL Academy and overall, I had a really positive experience. From start to finish, the course was easy to follow, well structured, and designed in a way that made learning feel manageable even when balancing it with other commitments.

One of the things I appreciated most was how clearly the content was presented. Each module was broken down into simple, digestible sections, which made it easy to stay focused and not feel overwhelmed. The progression from basic concepts to more advanced teaching strategies felt natural, and I never felt like I was being thrown into content without proper explanation or support.

The flexibility of the course was also a huge advantage for me. Being able to study at my own pace meant I could fit it around my daily schedule without pressure. This made a big difference in my motivation, as I could take breaks when needed and come back to the material feeling refreshed. It’s ideal for anyone who is working, travelling, or managing other responsibilities while studying.

I also found the practical teaching tips especially useful. The course didn’t just focus on theory, but also gave real examples of classroom situations, lesson planning ideas, and strategies for teaching English to non-native speakers. This made the learning feel relevant and applicable, rather than just academic. I feel much more confident now about stepping into a classroom or tutoring environment.

Another positive aspect was how straightforward the platform was to use. Everything was clearly laid out, and I never had trouble finding my place or accessing materials. The quizzes at the end of each section were helpful for reinforcing what I had learned, and I liked that I could revisit sections whenever I needed to review something.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this course to anyone considering getting TESOL/TEFL certified. It is especially good for beginners because it explains everything in a clear, approachable way without assuming prior teaching experience. At the same time, it still feels comprehensive enough to give you a solid foundation in teaching English abroad or online.

The 120-hour TESOL/TEFL - usefull and affordable course. Thank you!

The 120-hour TESOL/TEFL course is really helpful; it covers all the main areas of the English language and provides clear guidance on how to teach it to foreign students. I especially appreciated the variety of ideas and practical techniques for both in-class and online activities, which make the learning process engaging and effective. Everything is presented in a clear, well-structured, and convenient interface, and it all comes at a very reasonable price. I’m planning to continue and upgrade to the Level 5 TESOL diploma, though I do wish it were a bit more affordable.
