Course review

Excellent course, I will definitely go ahead after completing 120 to diploma.

Useful not only for teaching but as life-skills too. May have stumbled upon a career path I would not have thought initially, but the more I learn, the more eager and enthusiastic I become thinking of the potential of teaching English, possibly even in another country in a few years from now.

I stuck with the information given at the beginning of the course relating to how many modules you should be focussing on and the length of time spent learning the material.

Practical and Engaging TESOL Training

As a Filipino language major, I found this TESOL course provided a comprehensive overview of teaching English to speakers of other languages. The modules were well-structured, striking a balance between theory and practical application. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on learning styles and the use of games to make lessons more engaging for students. The course materials were clear and well-organized, though I do wish there were more video content than text, as I find visual learning helps me grasp concepts more quickly. Overall, this self-paced online course has enhanced my confidence and skills as an ESL teacher, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to enter the field or improve their teaching practice.

Great Experience

I always enjoy good English content in its best organization. I am glad I took this course.
Honestly, the 120-hour course at World TESOL Academy is a lifesaver if you need an accredited certificate without breaking the bank. The interface is super intuitive, and the modules break down complex grammar and phonics into stuff that actually makes sense. It’s perfect for getting your foot in the door for online tutoring or moving abroad. It doesn’t have a practice teaching component, which is the only real downside, but for the price and the speed, you really can’t beat it as a solid starting point for your teaching career.

The course was very well-structured, and I thoroughly enjoyed participating. The content was clear and engaging, and the pace was appropriate for learning. I do, however, have a few suggestions for improvement. Firstly, incorporating more interactive elements and gamification could further enhance student engagement and make the learning experience more dynamic. While there were only a few minor grammatical errors, a further round of careful proofreading would ensure the material is completely polished and professional. Overall, it was a highly enjoyable and valuable course, and with these enhancements, it could become even more impactful for learners.

Practical and realistic

My wife has been teaching English for 9 years, never had I known how much work goes into it. I appreciate it a lot more now and this certification will allow me to pursue my newfound passion to help educate the younger generations. With that being said I am planning on making free online series of teaching basic and intermediate English skills, hopefully impacting different communities that cannot afford paid education.

I have never been more grateful for the English language.

What was your funniest moment?
The moment I realized that this was a review not for the TEFL certification I just received rather a new website that I just checked out.. and boy oh boy.. I will definitely check out the possibility of traveling soon and teaching English abroad!
Pros
  • Good website
  • Nice colors
Cons
  • None yet as I will apply

Basics and Transmitting Knowledge

This course helped me reinforce a strong foundation in the essential principles of teaching. I feel that I strengthened core knowledge that can be applied as a solid tool in different teaching contexts and situations.

One of the most valuable aspects of the course was understanding the importance of lesson planning. Having a clear plan makes the teaching process smoother, more organized, and more effective. It also allows me to guide the lesson with confidence and adapt when necessary.

Another important benefit was learning how structured teaching helps track student progress. With clear objectives and planning, it becomes easier to observe students’ improvement and recognize their development over time.

Overall, the course provided practical basics and strategies that support effective knowledge transmission and help create more structured, confident, and student-centered teaching.

Academic/Professional Growth

Completing this course was a pivotal step in my journey as a second-year master's student. The curriculum provided a solid theoretical foundation, but what I appreciated most were the practical insights that I can directly apply to my future career in English language teaching. The interface was user-friendly, and the support throughout the modules made the learning process smooth and engaging."

As someone currently immersed in a Master’s program focused on Cross-Cultural Communication and Visual Media Studies, I am constantly analyzing how information is shared across different linguistic and cultural boundaries. This certification served as a perfect practical counterpart to my academic research. While my university studies often focus on the high-level theory of communication, this program provided the essential "how-to" for the classroom environment. It successfully bridged the gap between academic theory and the daily reality of helping a student grasp a new language, making the transition from theory to practice feel natural.

One of the highlights of the program was the section dedicated to lesson planning. Moving from the role of a student to that of a facilitator requires a significant shift in mindset. The course broke down the complexities of pedagogical delivery into manageable, logical steps, ensuring that every lesson has a clear objective and a structured flow. I found the modules on classroom management particularly enlightening, especially when considering the diverse needs of learners in various cultural contexts. Whether I am teaching in a private sector language center or an online environment, the strategies provided here are both universal and easily adaptable to different student demographics.

What would you improve about this program?
From an IT perspective, the platform is stable and user-friendly. However, I think adding more interactive 'knowledge checks' or simulated teaching exercises within the modules, rather than just at the end, could help reinforce the learning process in a more dynamic way.

Good course, easy to follow

As an experienced primary teacher wanting to move into teaching English as a foreign language this gave me confidence and explained differences in approaches to ensure learning and engagement is maximised. I particularily liked the section on on-line teaching and the practical suggestions for classroom set up.
Even better if - more short videos of actual practice
- videos did not have background noise
- videos had not contained minor factual inaccuracies
- examples of interview lessons had been provided

What was your funniest moment?
Sorry, really wasn't one - it was quite dull.
Pros
  • Saw some different types of classes
  • Quick to complete
  • Did 'what it says on the tin.'
Cons
  • Should have been more videos of different classes
  • Some videos very long
  • Not very exciting/stimulating
