I started out training to be a teacher years ago but life tends to get in the way now and again. When I heard about TEFL opportunities I decided to give this course a chance and it turned out be quite informative and very valuable. I look forward to putting what I've learned to good use. The lesson plans are perhaps one of the more detailed parts that one might need to pay more attention to but once the idea of being as concise and as detailed as possible is drilled into you there's not a lot else that can't be learned along the way and reviewed as a person goes along. The English language is a little tricky even when you're a native speaker, but at the same time it's much harder for those that are just learning it. I'd recommend this to anyone that's looking to teach.

I found that Teaching Nomad was very well set up. My support team member (Madison) was always on top of tasks and was very organized in her approach to sending my applications to schools that fit my preferences and arranging interviews with those schools. She was always available for advice when I needed it and assisted me throughout the entire process. I can't thank her enough!

Additionally, Teaching Nomad made the entire process seamless. If I wanted to do certain things on my own, they would let me and give me advice as to how I could accomplish it. If I needed help, they usually had a service available to me that I could use. I found this useful for saving money while also expediting the process when time was running out (especially for visa paperwork).

I am really blown away by the amazing service I received from the consultants Teaching Nomad. They are very professional and extremely helpful. I loved working with Sylvia Spanos and Lauren Klein. They made sure everything was clear and that you perfectly understood the application process every step of the way. I never felt as though I couldn't handle whatever I was requested to do. They even guided me through the interview process and what to expect. I felt totally at ease during the interview and could answer the questions truthfully and with confidence. I particularly loved the fact that Sylvia offered me continued support even after I received my contract. That is going beyond the mile and very few people do that. Aside from being useful in your career, TEFL actually brought to light a lot of things that we normally don't consider, especially as native English speakers. It was very eye-opening to see how the children reacted to the material that was presented and how they behaved for the teachers in the example videos and the lesson plan assignment was a very good way to prepare us for what's to come in terms of the general school day. I especially found the pronunciation chapter helpful because, as a native English speaker, I didn't realize that there was a lot more to pronunciation than just making sounds, it was very interesting to learn exactly how those sounds are formed and what they were called, too. Overall, a fantastic course that not only prepares you for your future career but may even teach you things about yourself.

Madison Van Doren was my recruiter for Teaching Nomad and I have nothing but great things to say! She was attentive, got back to me very quickly, provided me with teaching positions options that met my needs and was there to answer questions kindly throughout the way. I was applying with my partner and while it can be difficult to place couple sometimes, Madison did not hesitate to help us and reassure us that there would be a position out there for us. I am blown away by the professional and timely services I have received from Teaching Nomad! Madison was my placement consultant, and she was very thorough in providing great leads. I have been teaching English as a second language for four years, and thanks to Teaching Nomad, I will begin teaching at an international school in August. I am traveling with my girlfriend, and we initially thought that it would be difficult to find two high paying positions in the same area. In short, Darrah OFlaherty is simply amazing at her job. Her professionalism was very clear from the first time we chatted over the phone. She asked me several targeted questions to get to know me and to identify exactly the type of role I was looking for. Within minutes of ending our initial phone call, she emailed me a list of about ten schools that she thought fit the criteria that we talked about. She had me go over the job descriptions in detail and identify and give her feedback on the ones I liked and didn’t like. She then submitted my resume based on the feedback I provided. I got in touch with Teaching Nomad in September 2018 and by the end of the year I had my teaching certificate and a job ready for me in China. At the start of my journey I was very confused and apprehensive with the process. After contacting and having a one-on-one conversation with Lauren from Teaching Nomad, all my questions were addressed and the process became much more clear to me.

The TEFL course is very well structured. The instructions and requirements throughout the course are very concise and clear. The theory is easy to understand and the videos clearly explain how to create a natural efficient class. The one thing I enjoyed about this course was that aside from the videos showing you how to do things the right way, there are also a few videos showing you how not to conduct a lesson. This was extremely helpful for me.

Finally, I want to say that I was directed to Teaching Nomad and this course by a friend who was equally as satisfied as I am. The staff at Teaching Nomad are super friendly and quick to answer any queries you might have about the course or anything related to working and living in China.
