Volunteering with Angloville 2019

The 3 weeks I spent as a mentor at Hotel Astra were brilliant. Helping the participants practise their English was hugely rewarding, and I made many strong relationships with people across the programme, whether it was with the participants, the other mentors, or even the co-ordinators. However, the cost of flights, accommodation prior and post the 3 weeks of volunteering, and basic expenses during the programme added up. This meant that although the trip was brilliant, it ended up being more expensive than I wanted it to be. I would love to do another programme with Angloville, but I would only do so if it was a paid position. I would recommend Angloville to everyone who was interested in doing anything similar to this, and getting TEFL qualified is great, but I would not continue to do this after the mandatory 3 weeks (to get the qualification) just as an unpaid volunteer.

What would you improve about this program?
It would be great if Angloville paid for travel to the programmes.

TEFL and happy!

I am presently at the Chojnik AngloVille and I am having a blast! I am currently enrolled in the following two one week programs here in Poland and if they are anything like this one, I know I shall not be disappointed. I have always wanted to travel the world and explore and this is the perfect opportunity for me as a single woman to do this. I look forward to Romania soon! The people are wonderful and I feel like I have made some lifelong friendships. I have finished my TEFL certification and look forward to teaching English around the world. I know that the knowledge I learn here and at my other stays will be invaluable to my future teaching career! Thank you AngloVille for everything!!! The scenery is beautiful and it looks like God spent the days here painting!

What would you improve about this program?
The food and the WiFi. Also, not putting 3 volunteers in each room.

amazing experience!!

my experience with angloville was great! i had such an incredible time in czech republic and i met so many incredible people from all over the world. i worked with the juniors and all of the kids enjoyed it just as much as us volunteers. i made some amazing memories here and i would be first in line to recommend it to anyone. i even hope to return myself next year to do another program. the staff were so so friendly and the week would never have been the same without them. they were very helpful, optimistic and patient throughout the whole program and they made it so much easier. overall i believe that this program is extremely worth it and i have no complaints whatsoever. i think it was an extremely worthwhile program to attend for volunteers as it is such a unique experience and very beneficial to the students who attend it also!

What was your funniest moment?
we did group activities at the end of every day and i can’t even choose one funny moment because each night had something just as funny as the last! we had all become so close as one huge group by the end of the week and we had so many inside jokes with different people! everybody had something to offer when it came to entertaining the group so there wasn’t a moment all week where i wasn’t smiling!

Amazing

Just finished 3 weeks with Angloville in Poland at 3 different locations. I had an amazing time met some great people! My experience was very positive overall. My complaints would be the food could be lacklustre and communication between Angloville and the volunteers can be tricky at times and sometimes I felt there was 0 communication between the people in Angloville. I would be cautious if your vegetarian or vegan or require any other special dietary needs as the hotels seemed to struggle to understand and accommodate for people. My coordinators were always very good I really appreciated their helpfulness and being so understanding! The kids I met were truly great and I felt sad saying goodbye, I will definitely be considering another program next year.

What would you improve about this program?
Food wasn’t great, very repetitive and communication between Angloville and it’s volunteers needs to be improved in order to create a smoother experience for everyone.

Enjoyable week in Prague

This was my third Angloville experience and found this one of my favorite. There is no question the Angloville program in Prague was a delight this summer and additionally, this European kind of travel blends purpose with fun. It was encouraging to see the schema of language development progress with the participants' abilities for their real conversational usage of English, normally, as an educator in a GCC country during the rest of the school year one doesn't have this kind of progress in a TEFL environment. The Coordinator and schedule worked well with the Mentors and there were plenty of us to engage with the participants throughout the week. Its great meeting people from all over who enjoy visiting; looking forward to doing this next year!

What would you improve about this program?
The venue for meals needs to be improved for a bit of variety.

Great experience

Volunteering with Angloville international was a unique experience. We were able to sightsee a another country and create positive impacts in young people’s lives. Voulunteers were able to meet new people form around the world and learn avljt different cultures and ways of life. I had a lot of fun exploring the city and traveling to other parts of the country. The students we worked with were eager to learn and everyone was excited to be a part of this unique experience. I thought they program was well organized and fun. Not only did the the students become more comfortable speaking English but the volunteers also gained confidence as a leader during the program. I believe my confidence as a leader increased due to the fact that I needed to take initiative in many of the activities.

What was your funniest moment?
During the entertainment hours we did various activities like karaoke or s talent show. These were very amusing!

Warsaw, Poland

Angloville, describes itself as volunteering and a free holiday, but it’s anything but a free holiday. Days are long, 8:30 (Juniors), 9:00 am (Kids until 9:30 (Juniors) and 8:00 pm (Kids), it’s exhausting days but worthwhile when with good coordinators, other volunteers and kids . The food, can be very poor at some programme locations, so I’d recommend doing some research before hand or bring some instant noodles and hot sauce if you like spicy food. I’d highly recommend, having a week in between junior programmes because they are very intense with constant speaking sessions and some kids aren’t very confident and talkative so you require a lot of talking to get them to speak. Overall, I’ve made some great memories, met some great people!

What would you improve about this program?
Poor wifi in all the locations I’ve experienced. Need much better food, instead of salad and sandwiches.

Like summer camp but free!!

I had a great time with Angloville, the program first provided an interesting opportunity to see some major cities with a tour and lunch. I loved getting to meet people from all around the world from various background. As a native speaker it is exciting to meet all the different English speakers from around the world, as well as people from the native country. I would recommend it to a lot of people for a variety of reasons. It is great for people who like to teach, meet interesting people, help others learn English and just have fun :)

Warning: Angloville is not for everyone, it is best for upbeat, easy going people with an interest in teaching English and interacting with people from all around the world. Angloville provides a great service in exchange for your full day. You do get to stay in nice resorts with cool people, but you must be willing to invest your entire time and not have too many dietary restrictions. Angloville did their best to accommodate vegans and vegetarians and does a pretty good job in my opinion, so it is possible to travel as a vegan, however it will be a bit harder.

What was your funniest moment?
Sitting around with the campers and native speakers and just retelling different experiences.

Angloville Poland

One of the best experiences of my life. The Angloville team was very welcoming and supportive , I met people from all around the world . The speaking sessions were very helpful for getting to know all the participants. The participants were very grateful and engaged which made the experience very fun and rewarding. The programme has a very unique environment , unlike most places were you learn a new skill , this experience was very personal and aloud all the people to bond of a different level. The children taking part felt very comfortable and were eager to try and take on any challenge. Would definitely recommend.

What was your funniest moment?
Playing games with the volunteers and coordinators.

Angloville Juniors Review 2019

I had a great experience with Angloville this summer. I volunteered for 3 weeks at Astra (Prague), Lipowy Most (Warsaw), and Chojnik (Wrocław) to receive a TEFL qualification. Overall the hotels were awesome - despite a few issues with staff and food at Lipowy Most, which was made up for with the facilities (a pool, sauna, and games room). I’d recommend Astra and Chojnik for those who prefer to be more out of the way/ closer to their surroundings as the surrounding areas are great to explore during free time.
The kids were all really lovely and willing to expand their vocabulary (for the most part) and we found they all love card games.
I met some amazing people in my programmes, which was the highlight of my trip, and I would definitely volunteer with Angloville again.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Book travel between programmes early on (flixbus is good as it’s cheap), get the Uber app, and bring extra snacks for the programmes - it’s a lot of meat and potatoes!
