CAPA London: Study & Intern Abroad

Video and Photos

Though it’s just a hop across the pond, CAPA’s London program will always remind you that you’re somewhere new. Try and learn some new vocabulary (“boot” means “trunk”, “chips” are “fries”, and let’s not get started on “football” and “soccer”…) as you take the tube (subway) to class. As the city enters the modern age, it still perfectly maintains its old monarchical roots that kept the arts thriving. From notable literary works and paintings to up-and-coming fashion designers, London is the place to create new ideas among ancient walls.

We want you to get out of the typical classroom and turn your study abroad city into a place you can learn from. CAPA helps you customize your experience— from everything to what classes you’re interested in to what kind of housing you’ll live in. Our internships will give you the skillsets you’ll need to succeed in your career. Each of our centers abroad are unique to the places they’re located, and everyone there will help make you feel at home.

The Best Semester Ever!

My semester in London, even with its ups and downs, was my best semester ever. London was such an amazing city. I ended up staying for 10 extra days after my program ended. Even though I was there for over 3 months, I never ran out of things to do and did even get to do everything I wanted to experience.

CAPA placed us in a nice, centrally located area (although the housing situation was a bit cramped, to be expected in the UK). Because of the location, I was right in the hustle and bustle of everything and was able to easily access pretty much EVERYTHING. CAPA also conveniently provided us events to further ease of immersion and integration into the city of London including field trips and day trips. They even offered extended weekend and holiday trips to other parts of the UK and Europe.

The Staff at CAPA in London were very courteous, helpful, and all British and therefore able to give me further insights into the city that is now my second home.

How can this program be improved?
Housing: Although the location was convenient, I felt cramped in the housing (not just because it was housing in London, but because some rooms had 3 students and there were 5 students/flat). Students in the same CAPA program, but from different Universities had much nicer accommodation (single rooms, newer/updated living space, limited internet, etc.), albeit in different locations, which was much newer and more spacious.
Yes, I recommend this program

It's beyond the price tag; it's something you'll never forget about!

What did you gain/learn from your experience abroad? Was it worthwhile?
CAPA London is one of the most diverse, successful study abroad program as I know of, and definitely the most amazing experience in my life! It totally opened up a new world of mine in terms of career perspectives, cultural understandings, friendships, etc. People in London are the nicest and most awesome. And the things you can do there have a sky's limit. It should be something you're considering doing if you've heard about it; and if you are going, it is something you can definitely expect beyond anything else!

How can this program be improved?
a. Could find better housing.
b. Could provide more social/academic activities with local university students.
Yes, I recommend this program
