Response from CAPA: The Global Education Network
Thank you for your thorough review. We appreciate the feedback about the home stay arrival and transportation. As the Westminster program is a custom program, and is not part of our standard CAPA London Program, Westminster selected the inclusions. They choose to have an airport pickup but decided to allow students to arrange their own airport transfer upon departure. Had Westminster decided to include the return the cost would have been built into your program fee initially, so you would have had to pay for it anyway, and we do feel that since there are so many options to get to the airport you probably would have been better off selecting the one that met your budget. The Tube is obviously the cheapest, and costs about $8.00 whereas the Heathrow Express is more like $50. However, we do understand that money can be very tight by the end of the program. We typically advise students to budget wisely throughout the program, and saving money (maybe 100 GBP) is wise to do for unexpected last minute expenses.
Regarding the awkwardness of the first day and arrival, we endeavor to ensure that students can get to their housing as quickly as possible since the first day you arrive very early in the morning and are tired from the overnight flight. Bringing you to the CAPA Center to have a meet and greet with the host family would extend your travel time by several hours, so we choose instead to have you go directly there. We can certainly look into some tips on how to make the transition easier on both sides.
Thank you again for your feedback.
