Korean Horizions Review

honestly, from the bottom of my heart, I cannot thank Alistair enough. Korean Horizons is the only place you should consider when applying for EPIK. I had a very stressful year and wasn't sure if I could make the 2018 Fall Intake due to documents not being ready in time, and Alistair was there every step of the way to support me and offer me advice. Alistair and his Korean Horizons are honestly the best of the best, and I am very grateful for both. Having Alistair meet me at the airport, help with suitcases and put us up in a hotel for the night, meeting other EPIK teachers and having a group dinner was a beautiful way to begin our Korean adventures. Thank you.

Just started my teaching job in Korea...

To all the newcomers who have varying levels of experience, but on the lesser end of the scale --I understand how you feel. I graduated with a bachelors in English but without any true teaching experience. My teaching resume is slim, but I do have my TESOL and a volunteer position that I completed during my last year of University where I assisted in an elementary classroom weekly. Teaching is very new to me, to say the least...so you can imagine how daunting this experience looked/looks from the outset. What I will say is that everything that I was nervous about, i.e., arriving, meeting other expat teachers, meeting my co-teachers/staff, and processing my ARC (alien registration card), has all gone very well and as stress-free as can be in this situation thanks to the ongoing support of Korean Horizons, and my recruiter Alistair. I was put in contact with 30 or so teachers like myself within my first 2 days, and the support is helping me adjust quickly. Before I arrived my recruiter checked in with me and helped me with the extreme amount of paperwork and document processing that was required. I never felt alone throughout the process. With all of that in mind, I really do appreciate the support I've been given by Korean Horizons, and I do recommend them for first-time teachers and general noobies like myself. All the best with your decision-making and prospective travels!

What would you improve about this program?
I originally applied to the EPIK program but later applied to GOE because I missed the deadline. I was part of the EPIK fb group, but I wasn't told that there was a GOE fb group, so I legitimately had no clue about the GOE expats who would be arriving/beginning with me. Not a big deal, but they did for the majority have some familiarity with each other because they were in contact before arriving in Korea. I adjusted pretty seamlessly anyway, but it would've been a little more comforting to get on the plane knowing that I was awaiting such a large group of support. I thought there were only 2 (if that) other teachers starting GOE through Korean Horizons.

Korean Horizons is the way to go!

I would highly recommend using Korean Horizons for applying to EPIK. I was nervous about the application process, documents needed, and interview process but with this recruiter I received emails in a timely fashion reminding me what I needed to do. Additionally, I had an interview prep and the application proof-read! All of my many emails were responded to within 24hrs and when I accidentally slept through my scheduled interview time my recruiter was able to reschedule it immediately. Once arriving in Korea I was picked up from the airport, had a delicious meal, a good nights sleep, and was even given information about my city of Gwangju. I think the service provided is well worth it and offers great piece of mind! I would highly recommend applying through Korean Horizons!

Korean horizons review

I applied to teach English in Korea through Korean horizons and I'm so glad I did. Fantastic time and help throughout application and arrival, due to some flight troubles I actually got to Korea a few days early and had some problems with my card but my recruiter was there to help every with every problem I ran into, and made a point of keeping in touch even after my orientation in case I needed further support.

Excellent

Alistair (he who runs Korean Horizons) really took care of us completely. Although we (and I say we because I managed to become friends with the five other English teachers that came with me to Korea), knew that Alistair was also helping out a bunch of other people, we all felt individually cared for. Alistair's messages were all personalized and he really provided all of the steps and coaching to succeed in getting to South Korea. I genuinely don't think that I would've done so well in my interview and application without him so I'm forever grateful for Korean Horizons. I'm glad our paths crossed and thanks for everything!

Korean Horizons is great!

Working with Alistair to get into EPIK was great! He was such a big help throughout and even now after reaching my teaching location he is still helping me out! He made the entire process a lot more comfortable and efficient. He got back to my emails promptly and always let me know what I needed to do or bring to make my life easier once I arrived in Korea. I would definitely recommend him for anyone looking to join the EPIK program.

No Comparison

When I decided to teach in South Korea I applied with several top recruiters, including Korvia. I even had a skype interview with them and a follow-up and WAS NOT IMPRESSED. I felt like a body that just needed to be placed. Luckily, I stumbled upon Korean Horizons and my experience with Alistair has been 10/10. I met many other teachers at the EPIK orientation, and they were all impressed by how great my recruiter was. Korean Horizons teachers were on the first shuttle out to orientation (after being treated to a very nice hotel and dinner the day before), we were prepared for everything and swamped (in a good way!) with information. You will be very well-prepared for your interview and he will make sure your application (essays, lesson plan) are as good as they can be. I know I might sound like an ad but I have had zero issues with KH and I do think (especially after my own experiences and talking with others at orientation) that there is no better recruiter - I am still being contacted and helped even after starting teaching!

Korean Horizons

Alistair is both super accommodating and a genuine individual. I really recommend going through Korean Horizons if this is your first time applying through EPIK. You only get great advice on how to fill out the application for EPIK but you also get good connections to meet other teachers!

Having someone wait for me on the first day I arrived in S Korea was such a nice welcome. It can feel hard to feel supported in a foreign country but Alistair does his best to let you know that you are not alone.

Hey Paul - we did some research and it looks like the salary is controlled by the government, and there are pay grades. Appreciate the question, surely others are wondering too
