My Korean Horizons Experience

I am so glad I decided to apply for EPIK via Korean Horizon. They made this entire process easy and less stressful. Moving to a whole new country can be quite stressful but working with Korean Horizons made it so much better. Working with Alistair has been amazing he literally helps you prepare for absolutely everything. Even upon arriving in South Korea, a bus was ready to pick us up and take us to a hotel (bus+hotel were covered by KH). I got to rest for the night before taking the bus back to the airport the following morning for the EPIK registrations.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Listen to all the advice Alistair gives you especially when preparing for the interview, and when getting all your documents ready.

The BEST decision!!

I recently completed my orientation with EPIK and have started my new job in Korea, and I feel VERY fortunate and blessed to be here. Korean Horizons was and continues to be such a HUGE help, and I really appreciate the dedication and hard work of Alistair. His support was invaluable and he was always diligent about following up and making sure I had everything that I needed, and that all my questions were answered. GREAT support! If you're interested in teaching in Korea, KH will get you there!

Worth the Wait!

As a recent college graduate, I knew that I wanted to teach. However, I never considered that teaching abroad would become my reality. The process of applying for teaching positions, navigating the visa process, booking my flight are overwhelming enough. Therefore, I am thankful for all the support of Korean Horizons, in not only taking control over some of the process - but for also taking the time to answer my questions and concerns. While the process does take time, it is definitely worth the wait!

Korean Horizon - Great experience

If you are considering to travel abroad. Specifically South Korea, you can consider applying through Korean Horizon. They assist you from the beginning til the end. The process of applying abroad can be daunting and confusing but Alistair made it a lot easier! His constant guidance and kindness helped me. He prepared a mock interview just before I could attend the official Epik interview. Gave me constructive feedback, and ensured I was fully ready for the interview.

Not only does he help with this but he also makes life easier when you travel to Korea. He books a hotel for you right before the Epik orientation so that you are not stranded at the airport. Offers financial help ( although you'll pay back after your first salary) . I am so grateful for Korean Horizon and all the help you have given me. Thank you Alistair!!!

ABSOLUTELY worth it!

What an experience! The journey of collecting documents and getting accepted is long but well worth it and what makes it easier is undoubtedly Korean Horizons. I literally couldn't have done it with this program. Excellent communication throughout the process and you receive really helpful tips and advice along the way! The transition from leaving home, miles away, to arriving at orientation was made seamless through Korean Horizons and that's just the honest truth. I would highly recommend them!

Best Decision I've Made

Applying through Korean Horizons was truly one of the best decisions I have ever made. I was a teacher in the US for 4 years before deciding to try something new and teach abroad, and have now been teaching in Seoul for 6 months. From the moment I reached out to Korean Horizons, Alistair was helping me and available to support every step of the way. He had answers to all of my questions, practiced for the interview with me, and gave me honest answers and advice for any concerns that I had. Korean Horizons not only has so much information to help you prepare to begin your journey teaching in South Korea, but having the support and guidance for the application process was truly a life saver. I never felt alone, scared, or confused throughout the long application process, and even felt supported after I arrived with the hotel accommodations and transportation. I felt completely prepared for my interview and was able to get all my documents together thanks to Alistair's help. If you want a life changing experience with a positive support system, definitely apply!! It will be your best decision too! I can guarantee you will be in good hands with Korean Horizons!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be prepared to be thrown into uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations but face them with an open mind. This is natural when moving to a completely different country! Korean culture is very supportive and community based, so while you may encounter situations that feel frustrating or unfamiliar, know that you will learn and grow from the people you are surrounded by.
Pros
  • Amazing cultural experience and opportunities
  • Loving and excited students
  • Endless opportunities to try new things and meet new people
Cons
  • The language barrier can be difficult at times
  • Being far from home and family can cause some homesickness at times!
