I found TFT through Instagram back in 2018, I applied very early on in the year (a year ahead of departure) and was in constant contact with them through out the whole online TEFL course and before arriving here in Thailand. The support I received was excellent and it was great to meet the other teachers in a WhatsApp group before we left, I live close by to lot of the other teachers which is nice.

I was placed in the Northeast of Thailand, where most of the placements are I believe, I was attracted by this placement as I did not want to live in a big city or do a big commute, especially in this heat! I love it here, there is a very nice community of locals and other foreign teachers, It is quiet but it Is not too far from Bangkok, so sometimes we go there on the weekends or if we get a national holiday. The teaching is very fun and relaxed, we play lot of games!

I would recommend this placement to anyone who is wanting a relaxed life and also eased in to living in a new country. TFT answer all of my questions via email or WhatsApp even over a year after signing up.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

I lost my phone when I first got here and had to borrow money to get a new one! So make sure you have some extra money aside

What is your favorite travel memory?

During a semester break in Thailand, I travelled down to the infamous Phi Phi Islands and got to see the wonderful sights, it was the first time I really got a chance to do some solo travelling away from my teaching role in Chaiyaphum.

Seeing all of the wonderful islands was truly one of the most amazing times in my life.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

Working for a young company, differs from the regular 9 to 5 life, and has allowed me to adapt in many ways whilst helping out others start their new journey in Asia. I am learning some new every day about myself and learning how to help others more efficiently too!

Support from the rest of the team here is really invaluable.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

There are so many!

The best part is hearing stories from the applicants who may have been very nervous about embarking on their new adventure and seeing how they have grown to be confident and are thoroughly glad that they took the leap to teach abroad. This has felt even more special through the pandemic, as anxiety levels were heightened.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

I am very biased towards Thailand, as I had such a wonderful experience there. I took the journey with an open mind, not knowing if teaching was even for me. So, the short placement lengths make it very appealing for others who are just looking to test the waters. There are many public schools we work with in Thailand, and there is something to suit everyone!

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Definitely the personal approach. All of the programmes have group chats with all of the applicants for each programme. It is really nice to see the applicants getting to know each other before they even embark on their journey. There have now been many "meet-ups" organised by applicants in their home country before going abroad.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Particularly for a teach abroad provider such as The Fewer Things: honesty, transparency, and providing the best possible support to each applicant. The drive the team has here at The Fewer Things to really help people is inspiring and it is clear to see it is has a huge effect on every applicant who signs up with us.
