An experience you will never forget!

Having previously taught ESL in Vietnam, I was searching for a similar experience! The Fewer Things was the agency for me. Although TFT is a relatively new agency, they excel in understanding the wants and needs of young graduates and will try their best to accommodate those. The support from TFT is what sets this agency apart from the others. From the initial contact and throughout, the support has been second to none. Always on hand to answer a question or query, which especially during COVID was reassuring and extremely helpful. The Fewer Things place you with a teaching company in Thailand and they can sometimes be unhelpful, but TFT are always happy to speak to them directly and resolve any issues. At first, I was hesitant to be placed in the ā€˜rural’, less known areas of Thailand but after arriving in my town ā€˜Chaiyaphum’, I’m extremely grateful. Although the bigger cities are appealing, being in Chaiyaphum meant that I’ve been able to challenge myself and have a truly Thai authentic experience. I recommend TFT to those who are looking for a good balance of work and travel, alongside meeting some friends for life!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Know that there will be many people in the same position as you, starting this journey for the first time. If you're unsure, just go for it. There will be plenty of ups and downs but it will all be worth it in the end. You won't regret it!

Amazing, TFT are the best support I could ask for

The reason I am so happy in my placement and having the time of my life (cringe I know) is because of the fewer things! A massive group of 30 teachers met up in Phuket to do the sandbox scheme (all part of TFT and organised through the group chat) and basically explored, adventured (and partied) everyday for 2 weeks. This meant the contacts and more importantly, friends we made were solid genuine connections and now these are the people that are making my placement amazing. I live with and am close to most of these people and go explore different parts of Thailand every weekend! My school is just incredible, the teachers are the kindest people and the kids are so excited and starstruck by us teaching them, I leave work with my face literally aching from smiling and laughing all day!! However not everything is plain sailing, but that’s all part of it and you can bombard TFT team with any questions or problems and they will do their best to find and answer and support you through it! To conclude, going through TFT made life easier and also helped me make friends for life šŸ’—

Jaemi is amazing!

Jaemi has been absolutely incredible! From day one he’s only been a phone call away to help with absolutely anything and everything.

At first I was worried I’d wasted my money by using an agency but honestly couldn’t recommend it enough. The best thing I ever did was use TheFewerThings.
The help and support you receive is insane and the pre-travel group chat allows you to make the best of friends.

I’ll always be so grateful for this amazing opportunity, I really have made friends for life.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Get involved in everything and you’ll have the best time. Take every opportunity to do as many things as you can, your only here once.

The Fewer Things - Thailand

Although I was very excited at the prospect of moving to Thailand, there were a lot of quite complicated steps to go through before I was actually able to fly out, especially during the COVID pandemic. The Fewer Things were very helpful during this process, sending general guidance emails but also answering lots of specific questions that I put to them (at all times of the day). They’ve also been in frequent contact since I’ve arrived in Thailand and have made it clear that I should ask them any further questions if I need to.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing was how friendly all of the Thai locals are. Since being here, I’ve been invited for several meals with teachers, my landlord and neighbours. They are massively friendly and accommodating.

Great program for first time TEFL teachers!

The Fewer Things has been so helpful from the very first stages of application all the way to providing us with support in Thailand while teaching! As a first time TEFL teacher, I was not sure where to begin with the process and felt completely lost (especially since I wanted to teach abroad during a pandemic which created extra hoops to jump through) but Jaemi made me feel so comfortable and assured through the entirety of it all. I've been teaching for almost a month now and Jaemi has continually checked in on us and stepped in to help with things along the way. Additionally, the friendships I've already made through TFT has been priceless. Would highly recommend TFT to anyone looking to teach abroad, whether you are an experienced ESL teacher or someone looking to get your foot in the door for your first time!

Teaching in Thailand- Do it!!

I could not recommend The Fewer Things enough to anybody who wants to teach abroad!

I initially applied in December 2020 for the China programme but in June this year with COVID there were a lot of bumps in the road meaning I couldn’t get to China as originally planned but Jaemi without any hesitation easily transferred me onto the Thailand programme and always offered great support when needed- even if it was just a quick phone call to talk through a few issues/ questions.

The Fewer Things are there with you every step of the way right from application to now when we are out here in Thailand. Being part of a group chat really helped with the whole process as we were all going through the same emotions and speaking to other teachers about your feelings really puts your mind at ease. Even before heading to Thailand a few of us met up in London which was really nice to get to know some faces before heading out.

The majority of the Thailand group all headed out at the same time where we all did the Phuket sandbox and it was such an amazing start to the journey; meeting some great people and making connections before we started our teaching journey. I have made really good friends with a lot of the teachers here and even though we are all placed across the country we are already planning meet ups and travelling for the semester break- it is really exciting.

As far as the placements go, you really get to experience the ā€œrealā€ authentic Thailand you wouldn’t normally get with coming here for just travelling or for a holiday. I am placed in a small rural town just outside of Khon Kaen city and I love it. The people here in Thailand are so friendly and can’t do enough for you.

So if you’re reading this and thinking about taking the plunge to get out of your country and experience Thailand- completely do it, you won’t regret it!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Learn some Thai before coming here because it many of the locals don’t know any English and it will help you get by and they will appreciate it loads!

The Fewer Things couldn’t be more supportive.

TFT have been excellent from joining the course to arriving and beginning to teach in Thailand.
Nothing is ever too much for Jaemi and his team and they always make sure to get back to you with efficient advice no matter how big or small your query is.
They handled everything with Covid excellently and gave us plenty of updates and advice throughout our journey of applying and arriving in Thailand.
Thank you for the constant support TFT and for introducing me to a new way of life and new friends!

The Fewer Things - TEFL in Thailand

I first heard about The Fewer Things in 2020 when it won the best TEFL provider of the year, ironically a year where teaching abroad was anything but easy.

However, the process of getting into Thailand was refreshingly easy thanks to its founder Jaemi who offered constant support throughout the process.

This made everything much easier, and the personable aspect of the company made it feel as if you were actually being heard and that your interests were prioritised.

The support wasn't limited to the pre-departure process, but once we reached Thailand we were pleased that Jaemi has still been incredibly active in his support.

Since, we have embraced a unique lifestyle with a great work/life balance while thoroughly exploring the Land of Smiles.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Attempting to speak Thai in an assembly full of Thai teachers! Embrace the novelty of the situation!
