I think Tesol Certification Course by Uni-Prep gives all necessary knowledge to feel confident in the classroom. Learning material contains the main points for teaching both children and adults. The information is well structured and comprehensible. Videos and pdf complement each other. It contains the most important things to know, especially concerning lesson planning. I found out many tips to make lessons interesting and productive. So I can recommend this course to everyone who wants to teach abroad. Thanks a lot!

UNI Prep has become my open door. With their affordable program and online tools, I can now add a TESOL(TEFL) certification to my Bachelors Degree and business experience. English as an international language is more in demand than ever. Technology means I can exchange culture across the globe.
Everyone could benefit from learning a second language. It helps you realize just how much you take for granted and the very limited extent of your knowledge. It breaks your ethnocentric view when you see other cultures do things differently. It humbles you and gives you a new thirst for knowledge. There are books that you have never heard of and they will never be printed in your native language. There are traditions that you have never heard about that capture the essence of respect and love for family. There are foods that have no name in our language. There are phrases full of meaning that just cannot be "translated" but must be understood with a fuller grasp of a second language.
Perhaps I have triggered your curiosity. Be warned; there is no telling where your journey will take you now.

What would you improve about this program?
For me, being able to work at my own pace and when I had time available was a huge advantage. Some scheduled video conferenced classes in the certificate program would be an enhancement.

I have been teaching for thirteen years, but from now on I am a TESOL certificated teacher.
I appreciate for each lesson and every information. UNI-PREP is a well built organisation. And I will try to make their teaching styles real. Teaching is a long journey and one who wants to teach never stop learning. This course is the best way. Let you join them and make your teaching experience more professional. Now I have more self confident by helping UNI-PREP. This is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. Give a chance to yourself and start TESOL certificate course. You will never regret.

I was very impressed with the content of the course. The notes were very detailed with up to date ideas and links on YouTube that supported my learning. The lesson plan template was easy to follow, clear and precise. The course can be completed at any rate the user chooses which made it very convenient. I'm glad to complete this online course. I'm 100% satisfied with all content. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in TESL.

I have a teaching credential and teaching experiences for more than two years for k12. but this program shows me the difference angle of seeing teaching. it's not just simply trow the knowledge to the students ,instead to leaned and adopt the difference from different angle. now i am ready for the challenge because i been using the new methods i leaned from this 120 hours program , on my teaching career. i have to say , it worked and i feel more confident about that i am doing. this investment worth more than you can think of.

I am very pleased with the 120-hour certificate program. Affordable in price and straight to the point in each lesson. The website is easy to navigate and keep track of your lessons. I finished in about two weeks while having a full-time job as a night-shift nurse. And if you're like me, you know how hard it is when your days are reversed and sleeping for two days straight. UNI-prep allows you to go at your own pace without restrictions. The videos are easy to listen to and take notes as they're only 20 minutes long, and the readings are well-composed. I would recommend this program for anyone starting out in the English teaching world.

I finished my Uni-Prep TESOL course and it was so easy because of the videos and study material! It is broken down in a way that I truly learned the material I was tested on, which made the test a breeze! I hope I can offer the same kind of experience to my students in the future! Uni-Prep ROCKS!!!

I STRONGLY suggest this program and I'm looking forward to pursuing my TESOL diploma next!! I'm very excited about the future!

Do you have to have a teachers license or a bachelors degree?

You do not need a degree or teacher's license to register in or complete our courses. Most of our students are not teachers and do not have a teacher's license - though some do and take our course to upgrade their credentials.

Why did you choose this program?

Because I wanted to improve my chances of getting an English teaching job in China. I needed to get more qualified in order to be able to get jobs. This program was helpful because it offered me the chance to be able to get the certificate quickly as a PDF and also to ship the original certificate to me.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

They had videos, reading materials and quizzes. I already have some years of experience of teaching in different environments so I just tried to add that information to my experience and it was successful. Since the quizzes are the same for everybody, you should see which parts of information you know from before and which parts you're just learning, and that's what determines how much you're going to do on your own and how much you're going to be using the offered materials.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

I'd say that you can't know everything in advance, but if you're more knowledgeable and have more qualifications, it's always going to be in your own favor. Although even if you are completely qualified, you are always going to see new things at first, until you adapt completely to the new environment.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

Study, memorize and apply the learned techniques in your lessons and/or in your ideas for future lessons. You have to compare what you're learning vs. what you did before and try to improve on everything. Every day, you should definitely be studying and doing your best; this is obviously very important.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

Generally speaking, being afraid doesn't help anything, so you should always try to deal with issues as they come up. This hopefully helps you get ready to deal with the challenges you face. You can learn more and therefore replace fear with knowledge, which helps you deal with a lot more than just one issue.

What position do you hold at Uni-prep? What has been your career path so far?

I am the Operations Manager at UNI-Prep in charge of all our online courses and international operations. I graduated with a Bachelor of Science and worked for several years as an Analyst and Consultant before traveling to Dubai, UAE. In Dubai, one of the many projects I worked on was teaching English to students of various ages, including corporate clients and CEOs.

The culmination of my international work experience eventually led me to the world of online learning, along with TESOL teacher training. I really enjoy helping to develop new courses and finding new ways to make the online learning process more interactive and enjoyable!

Did YOU teach abroad?! If so, where and what inspired you to go?

Yes, I taught in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for 3 years where I was involved in the education industry in a number of ways. I had the privilege of teaching English at their police academy and to members of the army, along with corporate clients and C-level executives.

My family has always put an importance on traveling, so after graduating from university and gaining some work experience, I found myself seeking something different and exciting. I received a job offer to work as a Consultant in Dubai and basically ‘lucked-into’ the world of English teachers and online learning. I haven’t left since!

What does the future hold for Uni-prep?

The best part of my job is developing new courses and improving the features of our online courses – and that’s the future of UNI-Prep. We already offer a number of courses aside from TESOL in the areas of business and management, and we will be developing more. Right now, UNI-Prep is forming partnerships with job boards to give our students and graduates premium access to job search tools.

We are also in the process of creating internships and teaching opportunities with our organization and partner schools around the world. When it comes to our courses, some of our future features will include a mobile app to study from your phone, classroom chats and discussion boards.

What about the future of the teach abroad industry? How do you think education will change over the next 10 years?

English is likely to grow as the international language over the next 10 years, which will double the need for English language teachers around the world. In addition, we are seeing that online learning is becoming more popular and accepted as a cheaper and more flexible alternative to traditional classes.

With the combination of these, we not only expect an increase in the need for classroom teachers, but also virtual teachers. To give one example, English lessons through Skype is becoming a popular method of learning English, something already offered by UNI-Prep.

Which teach abroad destination is most underrated? Conversely, which is most overrated?

South America is the most underrated destination as the lower pay discourages a lot of teachers from otherwise going there. However, most individuals don’t realize the cost of living is so cheap that their salary can afford them a better experience with more spending money than a higher salary in other parts of the world.

I think parts of the Middle East can be overrated. The high pay attracts lots of candidates, but many of these countries have strict rules that may impact your ability to fully enjoy the experience. It’s very important to keep in mind the culture of the destination country when you are deciding where to work.
