Starting out with the process of finding a reliable company through which I wanted to complete the 120 hour TEFL course was overwhelming. There are a ton of websites that promise good service and an accredited course. After a lot of research, as well as following my gut, I ended up with Let's TEFL. After almost a year of engaging with the course work and the tutors I am extremely happy with my decision. Right now I am in the process of finding a job. I am excited and calm as I know that I am in safe hands. The tutors are always ready to answer any questions. And the course itself is up to date with a variety of relevant information needed for the classroom. I am a qualified teacher and therefore I can say that the content of this course aligns closely with my own teaching knowledge. I recommend this course!

What would you improve about this program?

I would recommend that the quizzes entail more scenario questions that require application.

I definitely recommend this program especially if your passion is teaching English. Getting this program means you can teach English anywhere in the world and also you can help kids or adults to learn English. Let's TEFL Program also teaches its students not just the teaching content but also how to be prepared when you start teaching in the country of your choice and they also help their students with their resumes, their first interviews, demo classes, and up until the first week of class :):)

What would you improve about this program?

The program itself is good, maybe they need to advertise more especially in Asia where there are lots of potential teachers that can also teach English abroad.

I was able to do the course in about 6 to 8 weeks. It’s not too difficult, there are reviews at each level and a self assessment test to make sure you understand and remember it all! I especially liked the lesson plan feedback i received, it was specific and practical, I feel it will help me be a better teacher!

Changing laws in China meant I must get certified. Thanks to this course I can keep teaching online in China, whilst living anywhere I like (with good internet..)!

It’s a great work option, especially during lockdown periods!

With everything on hold because of COVID, I decided to take a leap and get certified in something I've been dreaming to do for YEARS. The classes were well-organized, easy to understand, and formatted so you could work at your own pace. If you couldn't understand something, there was no pressure to figure it out yourself. A message box was always on the screen letting you know if someone was available or not to help. More often than not, there was someone at the ready. I'm extremely grateful for the affordable opportunity to follow my dreams and I hope to be teaching abroad in South Korea in the near future!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Take the leap! Don't hesitate and mull over it for several years. Take the classes as fast or as slow as you would like. It's all up to you and the timing couldn't be any better than now!

So here’s the challenge I encountered when looking for a TEFL course:
- some are really expensive (literally thousands of dollars)
- some are low or poor quality (no credibility)
- to be internationally recognized you’re recommended to only consider 120 hour courses
Given all those factors, this one was hands down the best one I found. It didn’t cost you the farm, the process was made simple and easy to follow, and most importantly it got me on my journey to teaching kids while traveling the world and pulling off the ultimate challenge of making the whole process enjoyable. Couldn’t recommend it more!

What would you improve about this program?

What would you improve about this program?

I honestly can't think of anything off the top of my head. Everything was straight-forward and easy to follow and the staff truly went above and beyond.

I’m so glad I chose this provider. The learning material was very good and could be accessed easily with no problems. I like the fact they offer extra modules for teaching online. I also liked that they offer advice for job hunting, although I haven’t finished the extra module yet. The exam and assessment were thorough, and my certificate came both in the post and by email. The course is globally recognised. Online chat was available for support should it be required. Overall Let’s TEFL and this course is thoroughly recommended.

The course was great, I genuinely felt like I learned a lot whilst doing it and feel very prepared to go and teach abroad! Lots of videos, examples and in depth information about what I was studying!

The layout of the course was super simple and it was always easy to go back on a topic that I may have had trouble with.

The tutors were really helpful, they were always happy to answer my questions and to give advice!

The demo classes were great, as were the quizzes at the end of each module. They really made me feel like I was making progress.

The information wasn't very heavy and boring, it was made very interesting!

What would you improve about this program?

I would have liked there to be less emphasis on grammar etc and more of actual in class teaching techniques, and maybe some more videoes etc as I found those really helpful!

Why did you choose this program?

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

They guided me when I had questions and doubts. They gave me their full support all throughout this journey - before I enrolled, while doing the program, even after I have received my TEFL Certificate. They weren't rude and were very helpful (even offering assistance when I'm not asking). They gave me additional notes and links to fully comprehend the lessons.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

You can never be too prepared or ready for something even if you think you've prepared yourself or even if you prepared long enough. I like to surprise myself. It's a lot more exciting to not fully know what's going to happen and learn it then and there, but that doesn't mean I didn't prepare beforehand. I'm also prepared, but I learned that you're only going to be skeptical about something if you expect too much or prepared yourself for something you were hoping for. So, expect the unexpected and just go with the flow.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

I did everything at my own pace and time, so I didn't really encounter that much of a problem. I studied three lessons 4 - 6 hours a day. After those three lessons, I would go back to see how much I've understood then I would answer the quizzes and homework. After I've finished all the lessons and took the final exam, I focused on finishing my final requirements and after I've done that and received my results, all my efforts and hard work paid off. It was all worth it!

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I was afraid I wouldn't be able to handle change or meet new friends and not be able to fully enjoy. Of course, those were just fears that one can get over, which I did. Change is hard but inevitable. It was hard coping up at first, but eventually, as I accept change, it became easier. New faces suddenly became new friends and I certainly enjoyed every second of the experience. Just trust on your instinct, pray for guidance and assurance.

If you could do everything all over again, would you change anything?

If I could do it all over again, I wouldn't change anything. I'd do it over and over again. It's a learning experience filled with lessons and blessings. I just hope it'll help more and more people in the future. Besides, who says "no" to opportunities knocking? Certainly not the dream makers nor the dream catchers.

Justin grew up in the UK before taking a gap year in Asia. Or at least that was his plan… he's been living and working overseas for 8 years now, and has never looked back.

After spending several years teaching and developing English language courses for schools in China, Justin joined the Let’s TEFL team.

What is your favorite travel memory?

There’s too many to choose from! I was once teaching in Beijing and over Chinese New Year, the weather was freezing cold and everything had shut down for the holiday season. On a whim, I decided to book a flight to the Philippines and go snorkeling.

24 hours later and I was on a beach with a San Miguel and a snorkel. The water was crystal clear, full of fish and I even got to swim with a sea turtle. There was something that felt so free about being able to just grab your passport and go do it.

The only problem was that when I flew back to China at the end of the long weekend, my class found my snorkel-mask sunburn especially amusing, and decided to feature me in their drawings. The pictures were not flattering, but the trip was great.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

My previous jobs have mostly been in rather heavily structured companies with clearly defined hierarchies. I had some creative freedom, but it was always within very concrete boundaries.

With Let’s TEFL it’s much different. We’re encouraged to work on our own projects, and let our ideas come to life. If anyone has an interesting thought then we’re free to discuss and go for it.

In fact, I just got back from a trip to Guangzhou last week… that’s one of these projects that we discussed over coffee last month, and I’ve been able to go and put it into action. But you’ll have to wait and see what that was!

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

I was just talking with one of our course graduates this weekend and I couldn’t be happier for him. He landed in China a few days ago to do some traveling before starting his job placement.

Eight years ago I was in his shoes, and it was great to hear his first impressions - the people, the lights, the size of Beijing, the street food, the supercars, the rickshaws, etc. It’s hard to explain, but it’s a complete wave of new sounds and sights that you get to soak up.

There’s so much he’s going to learn in these next few days, weeks, and months. It’s such an exciting time and I know he’s going to love it.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Our team brings over 15 years of teaching experience together. We’ve taught all over Asia, we’ve helped to develop classroom content used by schools, and we’ve been involved in the recruitment process for new teachers.

With Let’s TEFL we get to apply all of this experience to our course and job placement service. We’ve actually lived and breathed the teaching life, and have put our knowledge into a package which really gives new teachers exactly what they need.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

If people are passionate about their job it shines through in so many areas. The company will be able to achieve so much, they'll be able to bring innovation to their industry, and it'll be a lot of fun at the same time.

I'd say that this also works the other way around - as an employee if you’re not passionate about the company you work for, and if you’re only arriving each day to collect a paycheck on the way home, then you need to go find something you can really contribute to. We all deserve more from life than that.
