The course was very informative and much more rigorous than I expected. It challenged me and really expanded my teaching knowledge. The course work is all relevant and practical to teaching, I am a primary school teacher with 16 years of experience, I wanted to do the course so I can expand my opportunities and I felt like it taught me alot. I would recommend this to other teachers, as it really exposes you to more modern teaching methods, as well as how to incorporate online fun activities into your classroom.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Give it more time to go through the work, alot of it was so interesting but I rushed because I didn't plan myself better, but when I completed the course I went back and reread alot.

I loved my course through the TEFL academy! Their course content is interesting, the was they teach it adapts to many learning styles and their customer service is 10/10. I received feedback within 24 hours any time I had a query, and received personally adapted responses. I now use my course to teach English online. Accessing the content is easy to navigate and the templates are easy to use and adapt to your liking. They provide sufficient guidance with getting started in teaching outside of the course.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?

I would stop procrastinating, and get it done so I can start teaching faster.

After 28 years of TESOL teaching, I recently enrolled at The TEFL Academy for a refresher certificate. What a wonderfully enriching experience! Their guidelines, support, and comprehensive course materials made for a seamless and rewarding learning process. I was really impressed by their prompt feedback and assessment. Within a couple of weeks after completion, I had both electronic and hard copies of my internationally accredited certificate. Impressive and highly recommended. It is certainly ideal for new teachers!

What would you improve about this program?

Whereas there is almost nothing to fault about this course, I'd have loved for prospective teachers to have more interaction time during the 10-hour face-to-face session. More time for teachers to collaborate and less Trainer Talk Time.

From the minute I started the course I was impressed. The overall design of the eLearning platform and content of The TEFL Academy Level 5 Online course is amazing. I have never taught a day in my life but after completing the course I feel confident enough to tackle any situation in the classroom or online. The level 5 course with TTA was a challenging, yet engaging experience. The timeframe given encourages you to spend time in TEFL daily, however it does become stressful if life gets in the way. Overall, a positive experience where I was able to learn at my own pace and receive valuable feedback on assignments and any questions I had. Further reading links and videos were also helpful in understanding themes and topics in an insightful and logical manner. The efficiency of the TTA staff is commendable!

What was your funniest moment?

I couldn’t figure out how to set assignments up! TTA gives you a wonderful template to use, however I was almost certain it couldn’t be that straightforward and emailed to ask for assistance. Turns out it was that easy!

I'd stop being lazy and would have completed it sooner so that I could start my journey sooner.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

The one piece of advice I would give is to plan ahead and to do your best. Worrying and stressing won't help you. The resources, as well as the markers, are there to assist and help you achieve your best. Planning ahead is beneficial as you do not want to get stuck with a pile of work and then have to ask for an extension. Just do your absolute best and you will reap the rewards.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

The TEFL course spanned over a period of 6 months which gave me ample time to complete my course accordingly. Some units take more time than others to complete, but if you plan and stick to that plan, you will not have a problem. The TEFL site also makes it easy and exciting to learn so that you do not get bored or frustrated during your study session.

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

I have no been abroad yet for TEFL teaching, but I am surely looking into it. I would love to travel to Asia, as I have been to India once and I absolutely loved it. I would like to visit Japan, South Korea, and China as a TEFL teacher and hopefully start my career there. I look forward to new experiences and challenges.

Any other tips for any prospective traveler?

India is a fantastic country, not quite like what I initially perceived it to be. The people are genuine and the country itself is a true wonder. My advice to anyone traveling there is to absorb as much as he/she/they can. India is rich with culture and history, full of diversity. Visiting places such as the Taj Mahal brings a totally different feeling, the atmosphere is spectacular. India is a beautiful country and so are its people.
