TESOL Trainee

My favourite thing was living with a Vietnamese host as I constantly felt integrated into the cultural practices. She often told us a lot about the history and practices of her hometown and other places in Vietnam.

This was my first experience teaching and it has taught me important transferrable skills as communication, people management, and public speaking. Moreover, being immersed in a different culture completely has been an eye-opening experience which has broadened my worldview.

The application was fairly straightforward in terms of administration from the candidate's end. And GOTOCO were very helpful all steps of the way - I truly felt supported.

Pros
  • Culture immersion
  • Up-skilling
  • Travel

Bali summer with Gotoco

The experience was great. There was lots of support before we left, and tons of support during the course also. We were given training, support and guidance as to how to teach the kids, and were given a 2 week training course whilst in bali to ensure we knew what to do and how to handle classroom situations.

Overall, the Trinity CertTESOL work was straightforward to follow, and allowed you to reflect on your teaching and develop new ways to teach. The staff were all helpful, and always answered any questions we had.

Pros
  • Funded accommodation
  • Funded flights
  • Funded qualification

Amazing experience in Bali

Teaching English with full funding in Bali was an incredible experience. Not only did I have the opportunity to immerse myself in the Balinese culture, but I also found immense joy in sharing my knowledge and language skills with eager and motivated students. The gotoco team were very helpful, and the accommodation and food provided were very good. Being able to travel around the island and having freedom on the weekends was a highlight of the experience, as we were able to see more of Bali and travel around the nearby islands.

It's legit, don't hesitate and go for it!!

It's one of very few fully funded courses available put there, most require a massive chunk of money that you don't get back. This is different and a genuine company. If you want an amazing travel experience, emersed in the culture then sign up. The programme is very enjoyable, you push yourself out of your comfort zone and get to understand a new way of life and expand your mind, not to mention the qualification and new opportunities you unlock. I was sceptical at first but once I understood this is funded by the British touring scheme and read all the reviews, I knew it was for me. You won't regret it!!!

Pros
  • Travel
  • Fully funded
  • Adventure
Cons
  • Language barriers

Gotoco 6-week Summer Programme in Vietnam

Hi guys. If you're looking on the overseas website to try and find a job or voluntary position abroad you're probably having to filter through loads of 'Volunteering opportunities' where they try and make you pay hand over fist for whatever. GOTOCO IS FULLY FUNDED AND YOU GET A QUALIFICATION - absolutely banging - loved my time here in Vietnam - they had an amazing trip for us at the end which was just incredible. Communication could be a little better at times between coordinators and gotocoers - plus the teaching induction at the beginning wasn't sufficient but the schools are great at getting you on your feet.

Pros
  • flights reimbursed / accommodation
  • you get a teaching qual
  • have an amazing time in another country
Cons
  • communication can be poor
  • is a bit of a struggle getting all the money back

Amazing experience with Gotoco in Bali

This program was a wonderful experience that I would recommend to anyone! I was attracted to this program because of the funded opportunity to travel to Bali, but was hesitant that it wasn't going to be as good as I expected. But it really was. The accommodation was great, the staff and coordinators were approachable, and the cultural events that were arranged were great for letting you understand the country. At the weekends, you had the chance to go and explore other parts of the island, which I really enjoyed, as it is such a beautiful island. The best aspect for me was probably the teaching, which was a really fun and interesting experience.

Pros
  • Beautiful location
  • Really nice accommodation
  • A great opportunity to meet new people
Cons
  • Long journey, but worth it!

Thailand Short Stay Funded Program

Generally, a great experience you cannot complain about being funded to teach in Thailand. A few minor gripes but they are related specifically to the placement I was on and not the program overall. 'Placement in a supportive school in rural Thailand with extensive cultural activities.' This didn't seem true to word, as we were placed in a £15,000 a year kindergarten in Bangkok where we acted as substitute teachers for the other 40 native English-speaking teachers and one of our cultural activities was being offered to go watch our English headteacher's rock band practice. Talking to others on our course we seemed to be an isolated case so I would still recommend the program.
