Fun and Enriching Experience.

I enjoyed the entire week of the program very much. It was a fun, educational, and culturally enriching experience for both me and the students. The staff was great, the location was beautiful, and the accommodations were mostly adequate. The program itself is quite active and requires a fair amount of engagement. By the end, I definitely did feel tired but also very satisfied with the progress that I saw in the students. I also noticed that by engaging students with conversation everyday my own English improved significantly. I would highly recommend Angloville to anyone who doesn't mind a fair amount of social interaction with young people. There were some issues with accommodation at the specific venue I was at but overall the experience was very positive. I would recommend!

What would you improve about this program?
I would work on improving the food offered at the venue.

Resort Niegocin

I spent a week with angloville on their junior programme in resort niegocin, Poland this summer. I decided to join the programme with two university friends and the experience was so much more than I’d hoped for and I regretted only choosing to go for one programme. (I’m planning to return next year to complete additional programmes and receive the TEFL) The mentors all bonded to form some great friendships which really helped boost the atmosphere for the participants also. It was so rewarding to see the participants enjoy learning a language and watching their confidence grow throughout the week. The week was enjoyable for both the mentors and participants and was a really lovely experience overall. I would highly recommend this to anyone contemplating signing up for angloville!

Angloville

I took part in an angloville junior programme in Warsaw. Honestly was such a great experience, not only did I get to see more of Poland but you also get to experience another culture with your chats and as well as things like the food. The whole process was very easy from applying online to getting the refunded deposit- would definitely take part in another programme. The days are full on, but in the best kind of way. You get the chance to talk to so many different people both participants and other mentors as well as take part in fun games and activities. The days are long, but you get sufficient free time as well as meal times etc. I like the the destinations aren't in the cities themselves but out and about as it gives you the opportunity to see parts of Poland you wouldn't normally see.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Throughout the week we ate lots of unusual but traditional foods, fruit pasta and cucumber soup.

Thanks for the experience

I participated in the program in August, Bobrova Dolina, Poland. That was an awesome week full of emotions and fun. The coordinators are supportive and helpful. It was great to work in team with people from New Zealand, the USA, Canada, Audtralia, Britain. The hotel was ok, cozy and very green. It is just in the woods. We managed to see a fox! The hotel is about 25 minutes drive from a town. Abd about 2 hours of drive from Warsaw. All the volunteers are great! We were having one-hour sessions with kids and many really interesting activities, including intellectual and sport ones. The food was ok. Very traditional Polish food. What was strange for us: sweet strawberry pasta. And what was very efficient and important: during a week we were working on a big project presentation of a student, mentee. Each volunteer had a couple of mentees. Thst was amazing!
Thank you!

What would you improve about this program?
I would add more excursions for volunteer
s. All the rest was more or less nice. We had an opportunity to buy some extra snacks or food. But thst was not necessary. But the excursions would be just perfect! We had one, but thst was not very interesting.

An amazing experience

I had a lot of fun doing the Angloville Junior in Malta (which is apparently the one with the most field trips which is really fun). It was full of long and intensive days, but I loved every one of them and I was genuinely sad when it was over!
The kids were all so lovely to talk to which made the speaking sessions easy and fun. I also met some really great native speakers who I enjoyed working alongside and hope to stay friends with. The experience was particularly rewarding for me as I tend to withdraw from social situations, and Angloville is literally all about talking! I was really nervous to apply but I hoped that pushing myself to volunteer would help me to open up and grow in confidence and it definitely has, I can honestly say I've never had an easier time making friends and I'm so glad I did it!

What would you improve about this program?
The accommodation in Malta was very average, the rooms were decent but quite cramped, since most of us were four to a room that was meant for two. The food was okay most days but sometimes pretty inedible, I had to settle for noodles from the vending machine for dinner twice. They were also charging €20 for wifi which I thought was ridiculous.
However, all the not so good parts about the trip were to do with the accommodation not Angloville, so to improve I would say to definitely move the programme to a more suitable location.

Great experience

Angloville is definitely a worthwhile experience for native speaking mentors and participants alike.

You get to explore other cultures and meet like minded people. You build great relationships with the other mentors but also the participants.

The programme I participated in had a range of a field trips, which ensured we got to explore the area and popular cities and landmarks near by.

The days can be long, with not a lot of free time, but it's worth it to see the difference you are making in the participants English skills. The facilities at our venue were not fantastic but there was a pool that we all enjoyed during free time or evening pool parties.

I have only completed one programme with Angloville but will definitely look into doing the adult programmes in the future.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don't expect to be 'teaching' as such, it's much more relaxed and conversational.

Immersed in Polish and Czech Culture

Had a great 3 weeks with Angloville with a mixture of kids and junior programmes in Poland and Czech Republic. It was a great to be with so many nationalities and get immersed in Polish and Czech culture.

The kids and junior programmes were very different. The kids programme was very structured and fast pace. There was a range of different activities with scavenger hunts and arts and crafts. We were also given flash cards to help with the speaking sessions.

On the other hand, the junior programmes were a lot more relaxed. We were given question cards which suggested questions to create a conversation which some of the children liked and some disliked them. There were group sessions and games throughout the day to break it up. Very full on weeks but very fun.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Strawberry pasta and gherkin soup were two things that were very different to English cuisine!

Questions & Answers

The two companies I have used for this so far are Angloville and VaughanTown. The enquirer needs to visit their websites and discover what the conditions are. There is availability throughout the year and quite often spaces available on trips at short notice that may not yet have been filled. Angloville has a Facebook page also. volunteers.grupovaughan.com/what-we-do/vaughan-town angloville.com
