MTA Network is a Terrible Company

These guys barley knew what they were doing. The paperwork process to get start the internship was terrible. The visa guy couldn't tell me anything. I was in Vietnam at the time and in Vietnam you have to pay bribes and waste hours standing in a line with who potentially don't know how lines are supposed to work (meaning that the shove and try to cut and whatnot) in order to get the student visa for China. The directions that I was given were really unclear so I contacted the guy to get clarification about exactly what I needed. He gave me the address of a website that looked like it was last updated in 2007. The website neither had directions for America, nor Vietnam. I told him this and he told me just to go wait in the line and not worry about it. I did all this and was not given the student visa because I already had a tourist visa for China.

He was the one who was handling the paper work and the Visa and everything. When I told him what happened he said "Well you never told me you had a tourist Visa." Yes. Of course. I'm not the guy who has an internship company who is supposed to be an expert at the rules and regulations. You probably should ask that question during the interview and paperwork process.

So I wasn't able to get the student Visa, I wasted about 3 weeks of my life, the expenses during those three weeks, and he would not give me a refund on what was his mistake. He should have refunded me the whole cost of the visa because it was his mistake, not mine.

Anyway, the internship sucked. Waste of time. That's not MTA Networks fault, but what is their fault is that they didn't deliver on anything that they said they were going to do. They said they would get me a Chinese bank account - they never did that. They said they would assist with any of my questions or concerns. I was in Hangzhou, they were based in Qingdao. Whenever I asked them a question they said that they would have to ask the Hangzhou people at my company. They didn't help at all, didn't refund me my money when I wasted $800 or $900 on the Visa process (they refunded me half, but I still paid $400 for a Visa that I never got, due to their mistake).

It was so bad that I quit after two months. I informed him that I was quitting and I got the landlord to agree to give the security deposit that I paid to MTA Network before the internship started. He wouldn't give me the money back before the internship was over. I asked why? He said "Because thats policy." That's a pretty bad reason. The landlord agreed to give permission to give me the money back, but he wouldn't because "of policy".

Nothing good came out of this. Do NOT do business with this company.

Response from MTA Network

Hello John,
We are sorry to hear of your less than satisfactory experience with us and hope you will accept our sincerest apologies. We value our customer’s opinions and would like to thank you for bringing this to our attention. I would also like to remind you that at the time of the interview we asked you whether you have visited China before for not to determine the visa you require to come to China. You told us that you never visited China despite having a 10-year Tourist visa for China. We sent you the required documents as we provide to all our interns and we also suggested you to go through the website of Chinese embassy in Vietnam or call or email them. You found out from the embassy that you already have an existing unused 10-year tourist visa so they cannot issue you another one on that basis we immediately tried to sort out your visa issue and as you did not have the required visa documents. We refunded the money to you as per our refund policy mentioned and the contract was signed by both the parties.

Regarding the bank account and other small help as we are not located in Hangzhou. Your hiring company promised us that they will provide the support and the same thing was mentioned to you and all three parties agreed on it.

Regarding the Deposit refund company agreed to pay you and we payed you back.

We are sorry for you not having a good experience during the internship. We have stopped working with their Hangzhou office due to this case so in future any intern should not have any bad experience.
Yours sincerely,
Pooja Thakur

Internship in China

I spend 6 amazing months for an internship in Qingdao.
MTA is a serious agency who can provide you everything you need to find an internship and live in China.
It's very useful to have good help to apply for a visa and for your first days in China.
I liked when MTA organized some party or activities to meet the other interns in the city, we can meet new people very easily and learn about Chinese culture.
I recommend MTA to anyone who is looking for an internship in China, with MTA we can learn about a new culture and about how Chinese people work.
For you career, an internship in china can help you to learn in a very dynamic sector and provide you a competitive advantage for your Resume.

What was your funniest moment?
Its when i had to sing a song during the Chinese New year party in my office.

MTA internship

Good way how to get an experience in China. MTA has a list of companies to choose from.
MTA is basically helping with the visa and accommodation at the beginning. Visa papers went smoothly, no issues there. It's better to plan your trip in advance because it is time consuming to wait for the confirmations, papers etc...
Qingdao is great city for the internship and life. Easy to get everywhere, just need to install few applications which will help in your daily life...
My first housing was not okay, but I requested for a change and the second one was better. MTA has now even more apartments to live in which is good. I believe that as a young company they are finding out what to do better etc.
Chinese courses were good because I learnt basics, which were inevitable for the ordering at the restaurant etc....

What would you improve about this program?
More activities for the students, as promised......

Highly Recommend

Reliable is what comes to my mind when I think about MTA. It’s really rare to trust someone when you are traveling to another country.
MTA Network eased my internship search completely. They also helped me with my accommodation and visa during my 1-year internship.
The team is really responsive and would help you even at midnight.
I was particularly impressed by the ability of MTA to navigate me through the entire process of my internship and making my time in China worthwhile.
The awesome cultural activities organized by MTA are to be mentioned. They are a must attend and I personally enjoyed every bit of it.
I would recommend MTA strongly to anyone who is looking for an internship in China, and assure that he/she won't be disappointed.

Thank you MTA

MTA Network helped me to find a great internship in Qingdao, China which led me to Shanghai where I currently work. I stayed 6 months in Qingdao where I learned a lot in my company and where I had a lot of fun with my roommates and during the activities they offered. MTA Network provided accommodation, they helped me with my visa and organized Chinese classes during the week-ends. Thanks to the valuable connections I made during my internship, I was able to find a job in Shanghai right after my graduation. Thank you MTA !

Going with MTA is more than education and fun

I would alway come to Qingdao with the help of MTA again.
They not only provided me great help wirh the internship and organization, they also found a host family for me and gave a good start to arrive in Qingdao. They guided me through all required steps.
Furthermore, MTA lets you join a great network where you will make friends for life and also organizes activities to get to know the chinese culture and your fellows.
Whenever I came over a question or a problem, MTA was there to help me.

Very awesome experience in China with MTA Network

After some initial issues with the visa application process, going for MTA Network to seek for some support regarding my internship at Bosch Power Tools in Hangzhou has proven to be the perfect choice for me, since the Team has supported me at multiple occasions, whether its on the weekend or in the middle of the night, they were always available. China as a country is highly recommendable for any kind of internship experience since one gets to know a distinct culture and the chance to learn one of the world's most spoken languages (not a must though).

What would you improve about this program?
Keep up the good work :-)!

Great career builder!

My experience on the MTA Network program was definitely one I will never forget.
I received great help with the visa and despite the time difference, MTA was always there to my aid should I have needed it.
From the time I arrived to the moment I left I received help in every facet of life whether it be shopping, help with finances, domestic issues and things of this nature. Furthermore, whilst at MTA Network, I got the perfect opportunity of working and travelling and the fact that MTA it’s self is a rather small company meant that from my first day I was given responsibility and worked in close proximity with the management who took me under their wing with the ongoing training and moulded me into a valuable member of the team.

One major factor why the experience was key to me was the doors that it opened, less than a month after returning home I received multiple job opportunities in professional fields and the fact that I had China on my CV was a big contributor to this hence why I am again grateful to MTA Network and highly recommend their scheme for helping me develop tenfold in my career and as a person. As I lived amongst those from all walks of life and this allowed me to become more open-minded and most importantly make friends for life!
