Worth every euro, yes

Interning in Shanghai with GAC completely changed my career. They set me up with a PR agency, and I got to work on actual campaigns for global brands. My mentor showed me how Chinese media really works and how people there think as consumers—stuff you just don't get from books. The team sorted out everything: my visa, a place to live, even getting a bank account. Three months after I got back to Spain, I landed a job in international business development. Every interview I had focused on my time in China. Honestly, it was worth every euro.

Shanghai Experience

Interning in Shanghai through GAC was honestly a game-changer. I joined a marketing startup and had real responsibilities from day one, which pushed me to grow fast. GAC handled everything—visa, housing, support—so I could focus on the experience.

Over time, I got much better at working with people, communicating in a business setting, and understanding how things actually run in the workplace. The small Chinese classes helped a lot too—my speaking improved way more than I expected.

On top of that, having international experience in a fast-growing market really made a difference—I’ve already seen more job opportunities come my way.

Overall, super grateful for the experience. Couldn’t have asked for a better setup.

9/10 is enough in life

Spending my MBA summer in Shanghai with Go Abroad China was great, I was placed in a marketing consultancy and because my interest is in supply chain, they didn't waste a second to put me into work from day one real work and reposts started. GAC handled everything, visa, a place to stay and even picking me up from airport so I didn't really have to worry on basics and it was worth paying for these. My mentor in host company was Vivian and really took time to explain strategies and reasons behind it. Weekends were city tours and spending time with other interns visiting cities, and cultural places. Now I know a little bit of Chinese too alongside my urdu.

What was your funniest moment?
the funniest moment was when i was talking to my host company all of sudden my American accent slipped to Indian accent.
Pros
  • positive work space
  • clear and fast communication
  • Chinese Language Course was really helpful

Chinese are smarter than I thought

Have you ever noticed why Chinese are really good at building startups? Maybe you have thought of different things and reasons, but there is only one reason why by my opinion and that's marketing. As a recent graduate from university of Melbourne Australia | Marketing Major, I was really curious of starting my startup, but before that by the career advisor I was advised to get practical experience of startup and where startups are built, and honestly there's no other best option when you see the LC Sign in your for you feed, so I chose China too. Thanks to Go Abroad China for placing me in a company where I learned more, saw startups practically and Chin's growing market, explored city and it's massive working labor. at the end I had the opportunity of going to the China wall for once lifetime I think.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
surprising thing i saw i would say CHINA
Pros
  • good behaving colleagues
  • Visa & Airport Pick Up
  • making new friends and networks

Sarah's Review

I actually got good at marketing so I will give 4 for the growth and 4 for the support and I am thinking of giving it overall 4 stars. There is something that I have always loved about China was it's rapidly growing economy and their unique business structures. As a Marketing intern in the Chinese manufacturing company, I really experienced a new way of marketing in such a growing and competing market where everyone tries to get deals closed, customers satisfied. As my intern life in there, I developed how to win in such market, I attended events and meeting with other experienced interns. I would say as an intern you will love learning the language and exploring their rich culture, since it's not just about working.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
i would say umm it was the tall building i saw since it was my first time there.
Pros
  • real career growth + real responsibilities
  • language learning opportunity + exploring culture
  • working at fast growing and competing market

Get a head start in your career!

I would recommend that you do a marketing internship in China with Go Abroad China. If want to boost your resume, it gives you a real head start. I was interested as working as a marketing consultant and GAC has helped to make that a reality for me.

The best thing was that I could ask my contact at Go Abroad China to organize everything for me so all I had to think about was diving right into my business internship, the program coordinator is really helpful, and she never leave me along and always trying her best to answer all my questions . If I had a problem, I could call them anytime and they spoke to me in perfect English. They arranged for me to see an English doctor when I had a problem with my asthma, and also gave me some tips for that should I can do or cant eat as the i really love the food in China but not good with my asthma, I think you’ll be impressed at how quickly you settle in and what an incredible experience it is.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
you’ll be impressed at how quickly you settle in and what an incredible experience it is

Marketing & Sales

I contributed to the company’s social media campaign!
I worked as a Sales and Marketing Internship in Beijing. I was a key member of the marketing team alongside other sales interns and staff members from other countries around the world, which was fantastic. Coming from such different backgrounds, we had loads of different ideas and perspectives. Social media is my specialty and I contributed to an upcoming promotion by writing fresh content to appeal to the company’s target audience. My favorite part of my sales marketing internship was when I mentored with a Marketing Consultant. I saw first-hand how she led her team to nurture and progress new and existing sales opportunities. Also, what I Loved about Go Abroad China is that I still had enough time to travel around Beijing and explore the sights.
