Connections and Support

When I started with ABI I did not expect half as much as what was given to me during the program. I landed an internship with a top creative agency through them and throughout this, the ABI team were so patient and supportive in all facets of the process. I truly believe that this program is 100% worth it because they really care about the well-being of all of the participants as well as trying to ensure that your experience is one for the books. Their accommodation and attentiveness to me personally was unmatched. I got the experience of a lifetime at the agency I worked for gaining skills and networking with some pretty incredible and talented people in the industry and that’s only a small piece of what ABI offers.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go in with an open and curious mind. There is so much to learn and explore and your going to meet some pretty cool people along the way.

Confidence + Connections

I did a marketing internship in Fall 2021 where I found a great environment to learn how the marketing world works. In 4 months, I learned how to pitch a winning deck to clients, what 'creative strategy' really consists of, what things I need to learn to reach my dream position, and many more. I was able to develop the confidence needed to succeed in NY as well. One piece of advice for interns is that ABI can't do it all, be assertive and take initiative to get the most out of your experience.

Artbound Initiative - New York

This experience taught me a lot about the creative industry in New York and helped me prepare for my career as a designer. I gained a lot of skills and made some great connections with fellow participants in different fields within the industry. In addition, I was able to build my resume and get another job at the end of this first internship with a leading creative agency in New York. The ABI team provided constant support and encouragement throughout the whole experience and made it very enjoyable.

Music Internship - London

ArtBound Initiative secured an internship for me, in my field, in a foreign country during a pandemic – that alone speaks volumes to their care for each of their program participants and the dedication to the experience they offer. I loved having a program coordinator on the ground in London so I at least new one person when I made my move. The communication with the entire ArtBound team is consistent and reliable, I always had someone to reach out to with any questions. The support of this team is incredible and they gave me every tool to succeed in my placement!

What was your funniest moment?
I loved participating in the Indie Label Market with my team! We set up a booth with the other labels and sold our merchandise to our fans as well as socialized with the other companies. It was so fun to have some face to face interaction with our fans and a great way to be a part of the local music scene!

Internship Review

As a student getting my master's degree, it was helpful to see the world inside the experiential design field. I am interested in entering this industry when I graduate from Parsons in May of 2022- and this internship taught me and helped me excel in my understanding of designing for events. From inspiration, research, prototyping, rendering, manufacturing process, blueprints, etc. Mark Stephen Agency made me more confident in the design process- I feel that I can be successful in the design field.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
For anyone that will be doing an internship with Artbound, I HIGHLY recommend that you do it during a time when you are not a student. Whether you are on a break, taking a semester off, or post-graduation- companies want all of your efforts & attention, and it may be challenging to balance that with your studies.

The Experience everyone needs to have

In the highly competitive World we live in today, I'm sure most students who graduate from their degree face the stress of finding a job and having to wait months and months to get a response from employers. They ask themselves the frustrating question of "how do I get my foot through the door?" That student was me until I met ABI. Their program changed my life. I feel extremely lucky that I came across their email one day and decided to apply. Ever since then it has been an incredible journey for me. I was given a full scholarship because I applied through my Institute and received free training and coaching from ABI's talented team. I received career changing advice from Laura, Marion Sadavoy, and Sasha Nycole. They helped me in my professional growth from resume building to developing my artist portfolio to actually getting an internship. Zulfa and Ginda were also great mentors and guided me along the way. I feel incredibly blessed to be part of such a realistic and credible program. I simply wouldn't be where I am today without ABI. It's the people you surround yourself with that ultimately push you to be your best and I'm glad I got to meet the ABI team and be a part of this program.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Listen carefully to any advice you get and work harder for it, there's no such thing as luck without hard-work.

Great Experience

Artbound Initiative was just what I needed after graduating from undergrad. The career coaching sessions, portfolio review, and resume help were really beneficial as I am going into the professional world. The ABI team always responded quickly and were very hands on through out the process. My internship was virtual since the company was still working from home. It can be hard to network and fully immerse yourself into the creative field when everything is virtual but that is just how things are right now. Nevertheless, I love how ABI has its own network I can continue to use after my internship.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Attending my first zoom sessions because I did not know anyone and I wasn't sure if the boss would call on me to speak. I mostly remained quiet to listen to their conversation and dynamics and when I spoke I kept it short and positive.

Great Start to my Career

Artbound prepped me with the in’s and out’s of how agencies/ the professional world operates, so it wasn’t a major shock when I entered as an intern. I was provided the resources and knowledge to navigate different situations, especially regarding direct communication with my co-workers. Throughout the internship, Artbound continued to support me with personal check-in’s and introduced me to other creatives who are in a similar stage as me. The internship opened up a world of outstanding designers and thinkers, and I was able to collaborate and connect with so many wonderful individuals. Not only was I able to develop my skills in UIUX, but got to witness the work and thought process of so many creative individuals. Working at an agency enabled me to shift from a student mindset to a professional one in the most seamless and enjoyable way possible.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Got to see a 360 view of NYC in my company's office located in the World Trade Center
