Such a good experience!

I loved my time in Madrid with CEA CAPA. The part that stood out the most to me was how helpful and kind the staff were. From helping me with my classes, organizing trips, and even receiving my mail for me, they were to great! I also think Madrid as a whole is the perfect study abroad location. It feels very homey but there is also so much to explore. I was able to connect with a lot of locals through salsa and bachata classes, becoming regulars at small bars, and chatting it up with owners of coffee shops. There is so much kindness in the air in Madrid. I cannot recommend this program and location enough

Study abroad in florence

Studying abroad with CEA CAPA in Florence, Italy was an unforgettable experience. Florence is an incredibly walkable city that feels like a small big city you get comfortable quickly, but there’s always something new to explore. From the culture and history to everyday moments like finding favorite cafés, it truly felt immersive.

What stood out most to me was the strong sense of community. The CEA CAPA staff were extremely supportive and always willing to help, which made adjusting to life abroad much easier. One of my favorite experiences was participating in a soccer tournament against other universities and study abroad programs, which helped me connect with students from all over the world.

While adjusting to a slower pace of life took some time, it ultimately helped me grow and appreciate the experience even more. Overall, this program pushed me outside my comfort zone and helped me become more independent and confident. I would highly recommend CEA CAPA Florence to anyone looking for a meaningful and well-supported study abroad experience.

Pros
  • Supportive and friendly CEA CAPA staff who are always willing to help and truly care about students.
  • Florence is a very walkable city with endless cultural, historical, and social experiences it feels immersive but manageable.
  • Strong sense of community, including opportunities to connect with other students through events like the soccer tournament with other universities and programs.
Cons
  • No beach
  • Adjusting to the slower pace of life

Fall in Prague

Prague was amazing!! Before going, I didn't know too much about the city, but I loved learning about the rich history and culture of the area. The architecture is beautiful, there are so many cool things to see and activities to do, and the weather is not as bad as you'd think! There is also a surprising variety of cuisines available, and dining out is far cheaper than in most places in the US. While the city is very urban, there is also a high number of parks and green space around, which keeps it from feeling claustrophobic.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would stay in Prague for more weekends! I loved traveling frequently, but I felt like I missed out on some really cool experiences Prague had to offer by leaving so much. My biggest regret is not going to an opera or play at the National Theater.

The best semester!

I loved my time abroad with CEA CAPA. As a student in a faculty led program, CEA helped take the stress off my two professors in the logistics of getting to Paris and allowed them to focus on teaching us. CEA helped with housing, insurance, classroom space, transportation, events happening locally, and even making new friends from the US and Paris to share cultural experiences. I was able to be there for 4 months and got to live in the same building as many other students (from CEA, my faculty led program, and students from French universities

Barcelona Blast

Barcelona was an absolute blast. I was there for 15 weeks and got to visit 10 different countries, making life long memories along the way. CEA CAPA was super helpful all throughout the application process and while we were abroad. They have a full team dedicated to housing and all of the apartments I saw were super nice, they definitely exceeded my expectations. Barcelona's airport is huge with tons of flights in and out which made travel super easy as well. The nightlife is obviously incredible too. Can't say enough great things.

Intensive Spanish Language Granada, Spain

I was the only black girl in my cohort, which was challenging at times because no one could fully relate to that aspect of my identity. Making friends was difficult at first, as I was the only one in a homestay alone. Despite this, I was able to get out of my comfort zone and make a group of amazing friends with whom I am still in contact today. On the weekends, we traveled to other cities, which helped me learn how to travel independently. I lived in a homestay, which I liked a lot. This experience helped me immerse myself in the culture. While adjusting was not always easy, I learned how to advocate for myself regarding my nut allergy. There were times when I accidentally ate nuts. However, my CEA Capa program helped me with note cards listing my allergy in many languages, so I was able to advocate for myself.

What was your funniest moment?
My funniest moment would have to be going to karaoke with my friends from study abroad. This got me out of my comfort zone and we were just having the best time buchering the songs.
Pros
  • The food is amazing
  • The city is so safe and the people are friendly
  • Very walkable and beautiful city
Cons
  • I was scared to eat because I didn't want to eat something I was allergic to
  • Super hot in the summer
  • Spaniards eat a lot of pork (I don't eat a lot of meat)

Best Month Ever!

The staff was so incredibly welcoming! Dublin is the perfect city for students; everyone is so eager to talk to strangers. One of my classes took us to a local primary school, where we got to meet with teachers and learn about the way they structure their disciplinary actions to better meet the needs of the students. In my other class, I went to multiple museums, where we got to chat with curators and learn more in depth about Ireland's history and culture. I met some of the most incredible people, who have become lifelong friends.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would visit more cities in Ireland! I went to Cork, Howth, Galway, and Belfast, but I wish I also got to see Derry and did more hiking.
Pros
  • Friendly locals
  • Pub culture is incredible, even for those who don't drink
  • Public transportation is easy to navigate
Cons
  • You have to go out of your way to find good food

Best Place to Study Abroad EVER!

I genuinely could not say enough positive things about this place. It is so fun, amazing housing and great education. The public transportation here is the best. CEA CAPA helped me with getting my resident ID, my card for transportation, and whenever I had questions. I lived in the dorms and loved it, having a roommate makes things so much more fun in my opinion. So many good food places too! And so beautiful, I also felt very safe here, even if I was walking alone at night. I hope to go back again sometime. :)

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
As a vegetarian, I could not try some of the traditional Hungarian dishes, however I did try “Lángos” which is a savory, deep-fried flatbread made from yeast dough, traditionally served hot with toppings like sour cream, garlic, and grated cheese. It was good, but very filling! It was like a savory elephant ear (the food you eat at a county fair).
Pros
  • Amazing public transportation!
  • The nightlife is fun and vibrant
  • So much to explore in the city and also the more rural countryside
Cons
  • Not being able to get any mail delivered to the dorms
  • Grocery shopping when everything isn’t in English
  • Not bringing a debit/credit card that didn’t have international transaction fees

My time in Prague

I had such a great experience with CEA during my time in Prague and would highly recommend the program to any student. The staff is super friendly and helpful, willing to accommodate any of your needs. Furthermore, I found that I really enjoyed my course work. It was a great balance of learning new information, and finding new perspectives, while also allowing us time outside of class to explore Prague and connect with the culture through real-world experiences you simply cannot get inside of a classroom.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Getting fined for taking the tram without a tram pass because I did not know about the pass as it was my first day.

Granada 2025

My experience was very unique, I really enjoyed it and loved how it was conducted. The staff was amazing and I loved how they were able to help with anything that was needed. Overall the entire experience was worth the while. The homestay was amazing, I was able to travel around so much, I also had a lot of information about Granada due to my CEA CAPA Staff that were very helpful in all senses. I really would recommend it to anyone thinking about studying abroad because it was very insightful and enjoyable.

What was your funniest moment?
Being in Spanish class with students from all over and improving our skills through mistakes
