A Perfect Mixture of Old and New in Dublin

My favorite part of studying abroad in Dublin, Ireland, was the access I had to experiencing culture and meeting locals. The lack of language barrier and friendly wellbeing of Irish people made it so much easier to get settled as a foreign student. I also think Dublin was an extremely unique place to study abroad as it is evolving very quickly. The history of Ireland was very relevant in my every day life, and understanding Ireland's hardships gives students an inside look about current Irish culture and hobbies.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Some advice I would give to future travelers is to engage in banter with locals. I often spoke with Uber Drivers and my advisors about how much the Irish love to crack jokes and make fun of each other. Sometimes as an American, I felt slow to catch on with the sarcasm, but it was never directed at me with intent to harm. I would also suggest going to some of the less touristy areas of Dublin, like Stoneybatter and the Liberties. There are so many pubs, bookstores, and food shops to explore, so it is good to get out of Temple Bar!
Pros
  • Large diversity of food choices, options for allergies
  • Easily walkable city
  • Dublin was friendly to LGBTQ+ individuals
Cons
  • More difficult public transportation, the train only goes so far from the city centers
  • Middle to higher prices for food and drink
  • Least amount of sun I've experienced in a couple of months

Sam Delgado CEA CAPA Review

I studied abroad in Barcelona, Spain during the Spring 2025 semester, and it was an incredible experience. I studied at two different universities and worked as an intern. This collaboration of experiences in such a city was a challenge but an enjoyable one. CEA CAPA as a program was very helpful to me and other students in solving minor problems or misunderstandings. The program also provided a surplus of opportunities for the wonders of the city and country. In addition to this, there were many activities that you could participate in, like a small soccer league with other study abroad programs.

Pros
  • Rapid communcation
  • Great housing
  • surplus of opportunities to explore the city and country
Cons
  • Language barriers
  • n/a

JUST DO IT!

I went abroad with my University in connection to CEA CAPA for my first semester of college! Many would say this is bold move, but I can not understate how pivotal of an experience it was for me and for setting up the rest of my college experience. Being in London for your first semester, it is also a bootcamp for college and life. You are thrown into a new country, with new social standards, and customs. However, learning to embrace this and allowing yourself to be uncomfortable. This has gained me confidence in all aspects of my life!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
In the first week I was in London, I fell and sprained my ankle. Naturally, this left me very distraught as London is a BIG city and a very walkable city. However, the CEA CAPA team and teachers were so incredibly helpful and supportive! They set me up with doctors and a plan of action.
Pros
  • Public Transport
  • School in a central area
  • Lots of hands on learning and field visits
Cons
  • lack of communication in some cases

French Riviera review

Studying abroad with CEA CAPA at the French Riviera was the most wonderful experience, and I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking to study abroad. The program was incredibly well-organized, and the staff was supportive and attentive, ensuring that we had everything we needed to thrive both academically and personally. The location itself is stunning, with breathtaking views, historical old towns, and a rich cultural heritage. I had the chance to explore beautiful places like Nice, Monaco, and Cannes, all while taking courses that were engaging and relevant to my studies.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The most nerve-racking moment was missing a connecting train during one of our trips to Northern France. My friend and I were so scared we would not make it to our final destination and felt worried we were going to be stranded in an unknown part of France. However, we calmed down and quickly realized there was a bus that could take us exactly where we needed to go. We bought some cheap bus tickets and made it to our destination right on time.

UTS student

I’m an undergrad student from California. Sydney is a really good place to go abroad because it’s easily accessible via public transportation, has really cool attractions/ beautifully blends city life with nature life, and has some great universities. It was my first time living by myself and I was given a lot of space to grow and improve. Groceries are accessible, many people in Sydney wake up early (amazing sunrises and things to do), and the people are funny and authentic.

A wonderful experience.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Just come in with no expectations. I started by having a list of places to go to, and I do agree that it helped when deciding plans. But, I’ve also come to believe the best way to make impactful memories is to just do things impulsively. Go randomly walk 11km. Go to a new beach every week. Go hang out in Darling Harbor and walk around with nothing to do but peruse. And somehow, you’ll find yourself with new friends in the craziest of places with the best stories.
Good luck!
Pros
  • easily accessible
  • friendly people
  • amazing lifestyle
Cons
  • expensive housing

Fall quarter in Florence

If you're thinking of studying abroad in Florence, this is your sign to DO IT. I've never made a better decision. I had the time of my life and I'm so grateful for all of the memories I made. Best food I've ever had, most kind welcoming people in the CEA CAPA program and in the city. It's so lovely and such a special place. I had a hard time adjusting at first, but the directors and CEA CAPA staff made the transition so seamless with their kindness and warm personalities. I can't tell you how incredible it was being in Florence, everyday felt so new and like a new beginning. I found myself in my time abroad as a lot of students do if lucky enough to get the opportunity. Florence has so much character and history, if you like art like myself you will be inspired every single day. Go abroad, make new friends, explore AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. This doesn't necessarily mean go away every single weekend unless that's your style, but just don't waste a single second and get the most out of your experience because it will be unique to you and there's something so amazing about that.

What was your funniest moment?
There was a night my friend and I were just pondering around town at night and we came across this pizzeria right next to the Duomo. I was SO HUNGRY and this group of Italians were sitting right next to us and one of them cut me a slice of their pizza and it was actually genuinely the nicest thing ever and my friend and I just ended up talking to these guys and dancing with them outside the pizzeria for hours.
Pros
  • Best food you could ever imagine
  • So much art and history to appreciate
  • Art classes were so much fun
Cons
  • Far from home
  • Cold showers
  • Traveling often can get tiring

First Time in Europe!!

I was nervous at first to go abroad for such a long period of time, as I had never been to Europe before, let alone out of the country away from my family for so long. As soon as I got to Europe though, I began to adapt, and CEA definitely helped me. I was immediately connected to students from all over the US and from other countries, who were going through the same experience I was. Additionally, CEA placed me in an apartment building with my requested roommates, people from my school, as well as students from other universities who we became close with. It was so nice to start adapting to the culture, using the language, and making Barcelona my second home in a way. Looking back at it now, I miss it so much and wouldn't trade my experience for the world.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I traveled a lot on the weekends, but if I could change one thing, I would have gone on one more trip and seen just one more place. It seems tiring in the moment, but it is so worth it to make those memories and experience every culture you can.
Pros
  • Learning a new culture and language
  • Meeting new people
  • Getting out of your comfort zones with activities, interactions, and food
Cons
  • Possible language barrier at times
  • Away from family for long time
  • Time difference from people at home

CEA CAPA Study Abroad Florence

Studying abroad in Florence through CEA CAPA was by far one of the best decisions I've ever made. I created 4 months of everlasting memories and friendships. The program was very well-organized. They provided us with great housing that was centrally located in the city center and near our school buildings. They provided us with many activities and day trips that were included with the paid tuition. The program staff was all amazing. They all genuinely cared about us students and wanted to help us not only succeed, but also make the most of our time abroad.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
I tried tripe! It wasn't my favorite, but it's a traditional Florentine dish so I'm really glad I tried it.

My Experience In Sevilla With CEA CAPA

I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to study abroad with CEA CAPA in Seville Spain for Fall 2025. I truly had the time of my life and that is not an exaggeration. I highly recommend CEA CAPA because of the amazing staff, fun excursions, and endless schedule opportunities. I was able to take classes at both CEA and at a partner University called EUSA. This allowed me to take classes with people in my program as well as other Spanish students. This really enriched my experience. As well, CEA provided amazing excursions to Lisbon and Granada which were so much fun. They had plenty of activities planned for us on these excursions as well as free time so we could explore our new city. Finally, CEA had the most amazing staff. I still talk to my teacher from CEA who taught my Global COmmunications course and am using ehr as a partner in my Spanish project! Overall, I would really recommend studying abroad with CEA CAPA. It was a life changing experience and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Take in every single moment. Cherish it all, you will miss it once it is gone, I know I do!
Pros
  • Amazing Staff
  • Excursions
  • Fun Activities
