Cea Rome

I had a blast with the program. All the staff were super upbeat and undeniably helpful. Andreas was also one of the funniest advisors I’ve had. My classes were very manageable while at the same time, challenging to extent where it was still relevant to my major as a finance student. They offer many travel excursions in case you don’t want to independently travel, or have financial restrictions and are looking for a way to save money and yet still get out there and see more! If your thinking of Rome, don’t hesitate, chose CEA.

Pros
  • Food
  • Culture
  • Adventure
What other participants should know
  • Language barrier

A Semester in Seville: Studious, Scenic and Spectacular

I simply cannot imagine a more hospitable city or program for a study abroad student. Seville is full of narrow streets in quaint neighborhoods, breathtaking landmarks, sprawling parks, and bustling areas of young locals and international students. When not exploring or eating affordable, delicious food, courses are taken at various institutions with tons of options for subjects. The CEA study center is situated ideally in the city, as are the comfortable living options. Every day, I looked forward to seeing all of my professors and the staff at CEA; they were an excellent, helpful, and talented team! I always felt safe and supported. I more than highly recommend this program and location - take me back!

Pros
  • Perfectly sized city: can never see it all but feels comfortable
  • Large population of international students to form communities and have fun
  • Simply amazing onsite CEA staff
What other participants should know
  • Not as easy travel access to other European countries

Costa Rica 2022

My experience in Costa Rica was amazing! I had a wonderful time being immersed in the culture and traditions of Costa Rican life. I enjoyed the amount of freedom I was given, as well as the number of things there to explore. The CEA program in particular did a wonderful job of creating effective and efficient communication if I was unclear or had any issues during my stay. I felt safe and comfortable as a black female traveling abroad and was given tips and tricks on how to navigate the city. I would definitely go back!

Pros
  • Financial cost for activities, food, and adventures was relatively low in relation to the United States.
  • Housing was with a group of similar students so there was no isolation
  • Costa Rica is extremely safe and there are precautions taken by CEA to protect you while there.
What other participants should know
  • Within Costa Rican culture, there is a fascination with black women and our features, physic and overall person.
  • Some United States norms are deemed inappropriate in Costa Rica and vice versa
  • Overall Culture Shock

CEA Study Abroad Barcelona

Studying abroad through CEA in Barcelona was the best decision I could have made. I was nervous because I did not know anyone going through this program, but I was easily able to make friends who were just like me. CEA was very supportive of my academics and personal experience while I was abroad. The staff was engaging and encouraging to all the students. One of the positive aspects of CEA is that they do not have classes on Fridays. This allows students to have a 4-day school week and 3 days to travel! I am so happy that I was able to attend the CEA program in Barcelona.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Engage in the community and the culture the best you can. Spain's culture is beautiful so make sure you leave time to explore the city!
Pros
  • Positive staff
  • Provided housing
  • Supportive community
What other participants should know
  • Only 2 absences allowed

Barcelona CEA

Traveling to Barcelona with CEA is a great choice. This organization truly looks out for you and helps you settle into a new country. You will meet so many people, learn so many new things and really be living in Barcelona. The classes are interesting and you can pick what interests you. There is a variety of classes. I took an international marketing class and a social media class. It is an awesome experience. They also set up events to do activities around the city! For example, you can go on hikes, go to cooking classes and really meet the locals. The teachers and cea advisors are really there for you and make sure you are comfortable in such a new environment. Study Abroad Internship Experience

I interned abroad for two months in Florence Italy in the summer of 2022. This was such an amazing experience. Spending two full months in Florence was perfect, I felt like I truly lived there and was able to immerse myself in Italian culture. The city of Florence itself is a manageable size and easy to find your way around once you get the hang of things. My internship was at a local leather manufacturer that produced leather accessories for luxury brands, where I learned a lot about the business of fashion and process of leather manufacturing in general. I traveled on weekends either easy day trips to neighboring cities in Tuscany or weekend trips farther away. The CEA staff were the best. I always knew that I could count on them anytime I had questions or needed help. I encourage anybody and everybody to take advantage of this opportunity because it is such a great way to gain valuable work experience while being able to explore a new culture!

Response from CEA CAPA Education Abroad

Study Abroad Florence

I absolutely loved studying abroad with CEA. I spent my summer in Florence, Italy where I took an Italian class and an Art History class. These classes were unique because of the amount of time spent out of the class room. We visited museums and talked to many locals which made the learning experience much more memorable. Florence is a great place to be if you're interested in art or history because it is very culturally dense. Whether visiting a museum to see Michelangelo's David or going on a gondola ride down the river, my friends and I were amazed by all the beauty surrounding us at all times. Not to mention the food is top tier.

Pros
  • Food
  • Culture
  • Art
What other participants should know
  • Hot in summer
  • No air conditioning in some places

Paige Morningstar's CEA Study Abroad Review

My experience abroad was so unique and diverse in so many ways. First, the CEA staff and professors were awesome! They gave us so much freedom and only stepped in when we needed assistance. My professor was one of the best I have ever had. He did not give homework so we could go out and explore the world and I learned more in that class in a month than I have in the majority of my semester long classes. Everyday was a new journey and you get out what you put in to the experience. I also went by myself which I strongly encourage because you learn so much about who you are as a person and you meet way more people from all over the world. My favorite part was meeting people from all different areas of the world with different cultural backgrounds and never knowing what the new day would bring.

Pros
  • Seeing the world firsthand and learning about how different cultures live.
  • Meeting different Americans in your program and the international locals. You get to witness such a diverse community everyday.
  • Learning about the world. Whether it be through the class you are taking or the experiences you encounter you are constantly learning about life and yourself.
What other participants should know
  • Money! It is definitely expensive to live on your own in a foreign country, but you are only their once so enjoy it. Do not be so picky about spending money that you don't enjoy the experience.
  • Transportation. I would not say this is a con, but just one more thing you have to figure out. I suggest buying a metro/train pass if they have one or a bus pass. Ordering taxis, Ubers, etc. everywhere would be way too expensive.
  • Planning. Often times large groups of people disagree about where they want to go, so this can be annoying. I would say to do what you want to do even if that means only going with a few people.

Amazing experience abroad

The CEA community abroad and in the United States were extremely helpful in making the process of going abroad seamless. From helping with visas to pick up at the airport all the way to day trips with the school. The small community that was CEA really provided a home away from home that was like no other.
If you are looking to learn all about the culture and past of Italy you can not go wrong with this program.
There is also housing, field trips, class dinners, and walking tours included in the class which will help you live like a local.

Summer '22 Internship in Seville

My experience with CEA was unique in the fact that I pursued the opportunity to study/intern abroad the summer after my senior year. The CEA staff was unbelievably helpful from the moment I applied, to the moment I stepped foot in Spain. They guided me through changing program locations & ensured that I was prepared predeparture. Not only that, but I had onsite staff abroad eager to help with any obstacles that arose. I concluded my internship with greater confidence in many aspects of my life, professional & personal. I would recommend CEA 10/10 for anyone looking to step outside their comfort zone & challenge themselves to learn in an unfamiliar environment.

Pros
  • Friendly locals & safe area
  • Everything within walking distance
  • Amazing cuisine fit for vegetarians & omnivores
What other participants should know
  • Insanely hot during the summer session, but manageable
