Kunming is a big city (as per foreigners standars, not chinese standars). There are a lot of activities to do.
I am happy that i chose the school in Kunming, because we have a different activity organized in the school every day. Wednesday activitites are my favorite, we learn something about the culture, and sometimes is handcraft.
Regarding the lessons, I am really happy with my teacher (李老师). Her lessons were thought for my level and my time available. The lessons were dinamic and fun. I learnt a lot.
I do know if we are coming to China we know there will be cultural differences and we have to be prepared for that. My spicy tolerance is low, and the low here is still spicy for me hehe. There are a lot of options (mostly if you have Meitian, you can order anything anytime {for Meitian you need Chinese phonenumber}). In the school they help us to install all the necessary apps.
I would recommend to be prepared to always have battery in your phone, because it is necessary for daily life: take the metro, pay for a coffe, etc.
Overall, it is a really nice opportunity to experience the culture and improve the chinese level of understanding, speaking and listening.
What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
I think I was kinda prepared for some cultural differences, but not for all.
I do know that the bathrooms were different than the western, but it still surprise me when I had to go in public spaces hehe. But the disabled bathrooms are like the western so it was not so unfamiliar.
On other hand, there are a lot of food shops, everywhere. You really can buy food everywhere. I think people here likes to eat.
Also to saw letters that said "not spitting here". It was really interesting, because in these 3 weeks I do see that chinese people spit.
