Keats Chinese School Reviews

I studied at Keats for a month to improve my spoken Chinese. I found the experience very educational and interesting. The school is well-equipped with every comfort a student could need. The school also offers very interesting day trips to explore the Yunnan region. The lessons are well-organized, and my teacher was very good at organizing the lessons based on my needs and helping me with everything I needed. I was in Kunming and found the school to be very conveniently located. The school is very close to the subway and all essential services. My stay in China was very pleasant, and I will definitely return to Keats.

During my period of studying Chinese in Nanjing, I have made tremendous progress in my overall Chinese abilities, including listening, speaking, reading and writing. Every day, I stick to a four-hour intensive study schedule, which is extremely effective for my improvement. This steady and concentrated learning routine helps me consolidate knowledge quickly, build up my language sense, and make continuous progress in preparing for the HSK 6 exam.

In terms of listening skills, I used to feel uncertain about my level and worried whether I could pass the HSK 6 exam smoothly. After systematic training and targeted practice in class, I have become much more confident. I can now understand standard Chinese listening materials more accurately and steadily. While I am fully capable of passing the exam, I still keep practicing every day, because my goal is not only to pass, but also to achieve a high score.

As for speaking, my oral Chinese has become increasingly fluent and natural. I can express my thoughts clearly and communicate more confidently. Since I do not plan to take the HSK speaking test recently, I mainly focus on improving my written and reading abilities for the exam preparation.

Writing is the most challenging part for me. There are many subtle language rules and logical requirements that I used to ignore. Fortunately, my teacher provides very professional and detailed guidance in every class. The teacher patiently corrects my grammar errors, logical problems and small expression details in my writing. With continuous practice and professional revision, my writing structure is becoming more standard and rigorous.

In reading and grammar learning, I have mastered plenty of practical exam skills and useful learning methods. I have accumulated a large number of fixed collocations, common sentence patterns and key grammar points. Now I can quickly identify typical grammatical mistakes and analyze reading questions efficiently. These skills have greatly improved my accuracy and speed in doing exercises, which plays a vital role in my HSK 6 preparation.

Li Laoshi is a great teacher, I felt like she went above and beyond and I felt really motivated in each of her classes. Her lessons were all very practical and she always tailored the lesson to my needs. For example, we ended up doing a mix of HSK 4 and 5 exercises, used several recordings of real-life shows/videos so that I could practice real-life speaking and listening, and adapted the lessons so that I could really work on improving my spoken Chinese whilst also improving my reading and writing level. She also has a great personality, made the lessons fun and engaging, and was excellent in teaching the content. I felt like we covered so much in just 5 weeks!

Kunming is also a great place. The weather is the best and very comfortable in July/August. I also found the locals very friendly and great to practice Chinese with, especially when going out to eat in local restaurants or just buying groceries. I also really enjoyed the Saturday and Sunday trips that Keats School organised for us – going to the Jiuxiang Caves, Shilin (stone forest) and Puzhehei were amazing!

I also found the Keats School staff really helpful and friendly in arranging my rooms, airport pickup/dropoff and answering my many questions during my stay. The School administration, including Willow, Wang and Mandy, are all very helpful and flexible!

This is my second stay at Keats School and, just like last year, I am very happy with my experience. It was a real pleasure to come back to the school, its warm atmosphere and the whole team. Coming back for a second time also meant that I quickly felt familiar with the place again and could continue learning Chinese in an environment that I know and where I feel very comfortable.

I particularly appreciate the quality of the teaching. The teachers are always available, attentive, patient and supportive. The one-to-one classes make it possible to adapt the teaching to each student’s level, needs and goals. The way the lessons are taught really helps us make progress and become more confident in using Chinese. The classes are not only about learning the language. Through conversations with the teachers, we also learn a lot about Chinese culture, customs and everyday life. For me, this is an important and very interesting part of studying Chinese in China.

This year, I also chose to spend one week in Lijiang, after a first week in Kunming, before coming back to Kunming for the final two weeks of my stay. This was a very positive experience. Everything was very well organised. The school helped us book our train tickets, someone came to pick us up and take us to the railway station, and we travelled with our teachers. I always felt well supported and did not have to worry about the organisation. Spending a week in Lijiang brought some variety to my stay and gave me the opportunity to discover another city and a different atmosphere while continuing my Chinese lessons.

I also really appreciate the support provided by Keats even before arriving in China. The visa process is clearly explained and made much easier with the school’s help. The airport transfers to and from the school are also very convenient and make travelling much easier.

In Kunming, the location of the school is ideal. It is close to the city centre and the metro, so it is easy to get around and enjoy the city. Staying in the same building where the classes take place is also very comfortable and practical.

Daily life at the school is very pleasant too. The food is very good, and the cook is always friendly and cheerful. More generally, the whole team — coordinators, teachers, cook and cleaning staff — helps create a welcoming, caring and friendly atmosphere.

After this second stay, my experience is once again extremely positive. I am very happy that I came back this year, and I already feel that this second stay at Keats School will certainly not be my last!

I think Keats is the perfect school and offers the best ,most suited courses for people wanting to improve or start their Chinese journey. The accommodation and school activities are all top notch. The teachers are also amazing, they will cater to your language requirements and interests and adjust lessons to make them fun and enjoyable. The canteen at Keats is also something else, everyday the food is different and there is a variety of foods to choose from every breakfast , lunch and dinner. I would 100% recommend coming to Keats in Kunming and exploring Kun Ming for all its beauty and learning about Chinese language and culture.

esperienza meravigliosa, staff super preparato e sempre disponibile. il college abbastanza grande e super curato, mensa ottima, spazi comuni moderni…. si vede che è un posto pensato per accogliere ragazzi. Le attività organizzate interessantissime e strutturate bene. Per quanto riguarda le lezioni sono state di grande aiuto con il mio cinese che di base non è buono, l’insegnante Rose super preparata, paziente e disponibile, non avrei potuto chiedere di meglio. Esperienza che ripeterò sicuramente! We saw famous landmarks and got a real feel for local culture. Trying all kinds of delicious Sichuan food together was definitely one of our favourite shared moments. It was great to learn Chinese while getting out and seeing the city at the same time.

Our Italian group had a really nice time at Keats School in Chengdu. We had four hours of Chinese classes every morning. The teachers explain things clearly and make the lessons practical. On most afternoons we head out for different activities. We visited the Panda Base, climbed Qingcheng Mountain, and walked around many wonderful local sights, including museums, old streets and historic temples. We also got to try authentic Sichuan hot pot, tasty barbecue, and had a fun group night at KTV. Balancing structured classes and relaxed city exploration makes every day feel fresh. It has been a pleasant, well‑rounded experience for all of us.

The Keats School offers a personalized teaching method to suit every need. After studying with them, I was able to significantly improve my pronunciation
and finally I can use the Chinese language in everyday life situations. After just one week, you can really see improvements in your Chinese language skills, especially in pronunciation and the use of new words you've learned. I was very happy with the teacher who taught me. I had problems with the pronunciation of some words, and she really taught me how to speak Chinese excellently.

I studied for 2 weeks, accompanied by Ambercat, at Keats School in Chengdu.
The school is located near the metro—it actually takes about 2 minutes to get there—the classrooms are always spotless and quiet, and the warmth from the school is never lacking; in fact, every day during the break between lessons the staff (阿姨) always bring us something to eat <3.
What makes the difference are the teachers: I was in the advanced class with Willow 老师 (teacher), and the lessons were never boring—she always tried to make them as fun as possible. The lessons helped me improve a lot in a short time, especially in speaking and listening.
The extracurricular side is also always organized in the best possible way, between cultural activities, trips, and dinners out—you never get tired of it.
I recommend doing this experience because, besides the excellent organization of the school and Willow 老师's interesting lessons, Chengdu also plays its part. A city that gives you dreams among the lights, colors, the music of Chuanxi Lu, and the silence, calm, and tranquility of Du Fu's cottage.
An experience I would do again and one I 100% recommend.

La scuola è situata vicino alla metro di fatti ci si mettono all'incirca 2 min per arrivarci, le aule sono sempre pulitissime e tranquille e il calore da parte della scuola non manca mai, difatti ogni giorno nella pausa tra le lezioni le 阿姨 ci portano sempre qualcosa da mangiare <3.
Quello che fa la differenza sono gli insegnanti: Io ero nel advanced class di Willow 老师, ogni giorno le lezioni non erano mai noiose anzi cercava di renderle sempre divertentissime. Le lezioni mi hanno aiutato a migliorare tantissimo in poco tempo, soprattutto nel parlato e nell'ascolto.
Anche la parte extra-scolastica è sempre organizzata nel migliore dei modi tra attività culturali, gite e cene fuori non ci si stanca mai.
Consiglio di fare quest'esperienza perché, oltre all'ottima organizzazione della scuola e alle interessanti lezioni di Willow 老师, anche Chengdu fa la sua parte. Città che regala sogni tra le luci, i colori, la musica di Chuanxi Lu e il silenzio, la calma e la tranquillità della casa di Du Fu.
Un'esperienza che rifarei e soprattutto che consiglio di fare al 100%

L'insegnante Rose è preparata e coinvolgente, gentile e simpatica.

Imparare il Cinese insieme a lei è davvero divertente. Il suo metodo è efficace e mai noioso. Le lezioni sono interessanti e gioiose, c'è una bella atmosfera rilassata e non si ha paura di sbagliare perché la Laoshi Rose ti rispiega tutto bene quando non capisci senza farti sentire a disagio.
