Freedom to Learn.

I really enjoyed my level 5 online TEFL course. The TEFL academy provided all the information I needed, and also plenty of further reading resources to expand my studies. It was great to be able to complete the course at my own pace, and fit it around other things in my life. Although it was online there was still an opportunity to see other students contributions on forum pages which created more of a community feel. I liked how it gave details about many different scenarios of potential TEFL teaching. Thank you!

Two month TEFL experience

I did my TEFL Level 5 diploma between mid-April and mid-June in 2025. Overall, I think the course gave a great introduction and overview into how to teach English as a foreign language, the four key skills, classroom management and other elements important to consider when starting to teach. There was a bit of interaction where you could read other participants' thoughts and ideas in a forum which I found useful, as well as videos with TEFL instructors which made the human connection more prominent.

At times certain parts of the course dragged on a bit and I wish you could find information in the course easier when looking back to review the material, but overall I think the content was very useful and informative for me to learn about TEFL. The assignments also allowed you to apply you knowledge into real tasks and the feedback provided was always structured and clear on what went well and what could be improved. I would definitely recommend this course to those who are complete beginners in TEFL and wish to learn more.

What would you improve about this program?
- An index where you could easier find specific content in the course e.g. if you're looking for where "flash cards" or "differentiated learning" were mentioned
- Divide up the grammar unit more because it was quite long and heavy to go through. This would also increase motivation.
- Give more age specific tips in terms of children/teens... sometimes I was missing how to teach something to a group of 6 year olds vs. a group of 11 year olds vs. a group of 17 year olds
Pros
  • Relevant and in-depth content
  • Interesting assignments that felt applicable to real life teaching
  • Great feedback that was both constructive, encouraging and timely
Cons
  • Wish there was more opportunities to interact with other learners
  • Less videos towards the end of the course - wishing there were more
  • More suggestions for activities to use in classes, especially for older age groups

I found the courses well-balanced. The self-paced format allowed me to fit the course around my schedule without ever feeling rushed, yet the content was detailed enough to truly prepare me for real-world teaching. The modules were thoughtfully designed, covering everything from grammar and lesson planning to classroom management and teaching strategies. I especially appreciated the practical focus: realistic scenarios, varied assignments, and short quizzes that kept the learning process dynamic and interactive.

The feedback on assignments was clear and constructive, helping me develop new skills step by step. The platform was easy to navigate, and whenever I had a question, support was responsive and helpful. I also found the downloadable resources incredibly useful and something I’ll definitely keep referring back to.

What a positive experience!

I am a qualified teacher with 19 years of experience in teaching young children. After starting our own family, my husband and I decided that I should be a stay-at-home mom to our 2 boys. Now that they are a bit older and more independent, I can pursue my dreams and teach again...something I miss dearly. I became interested in online teaching and started to research online TEFL courses. That was when I discovered The TEFL Academy. My experience with The TEFL Academy has been a positive experience from the very start. The course content is comprehensive and easy to understand. I never experienced any problems during my course. Tutors were also very prompt and positive on feedback regarding the assignments. I'll highly recommend The TEFL Academy to anyone who considers an online TEFL course. I want to express my gratitude towards The TEFL Academy for being part of this new chapter in my life!

Satisfied with the course, it was worth every penny and minute!

I recently completed the Level 5 TEFL course with The TEFL Academy, and I can confidently say it was a transformative experience that exceeded my expectations. As i am someone with a passion for teaching and a desire to explore opportunities abroad, I was drawn to this program for its reputation and comprehensive curriculum. From the outset, the course structure was well-organized, blending theoretical knowledge with practical teaching skills, which made the learning process both engaging and applicable. The course content was thorough, covering essential topics like lesson planning, classroom management, and language acquisition theories. What stood out to me was the emphasis on real-world teaching scenarios. The modules included detailed case studies and interactive exercises that allowed me to visualize myself in a classroom setting. For instance, I learned how to adapt lessons for different learning styles, a skill I hadn’t fully appreciated before. The online platform was user-friendly, with clear instructions and a variety of resources like video tutorials and downloadable materials that enriched my understanding. One unique aspect of my experience was the personal support from the tutors. I had the chance to submit practice lessons for feedback, and the responses were always constructive and tailored to my needs. This one-on-one guidance helped me grow as an educator and boosted my confidence. I also appreciated the flexibility of the course, which let me study at my own pace while balancing other commitments. Completing it in 2025 felt like a personal achievement, especially given the global uncertainties that made online learning a necessity. The practical teaching component was a highlight. I had to record a sample lesson, which initially felt daunting, but the process taught me how to manage time and engage an audience effectively. This hands-on practice is something I believe future participants will value, as it bridges the gap between theory and practice. I’d recommend they come prepared with a curious mind and a willingness to step out of their comfort zone—those qualities will make the journey even more rewarding. If I could offer one piece of advice, it would be to take advantage of the community forums. Connecting with other learners provided me with diverse perspectives and motivated me to stay committed. The course also opened doors to job opportunities, with The TEFL Academy providing resources to help me apply my new skills internationally. This practical support sets it apart from other programs I researched.Would I recommend this program? Absolutely. It’s ideal for anyone looking to start a teaching career or enhance their skills, offering a solid foundation and the tools to succeed. My only suggestion for future improvements would be to include more live webinars, as they could add a dynamic element to the experience. Overall, the Level 5 TEFL course with The TEFL Academy was worth every effort, and I’m excited to apply what I’ve learned in my teaching journey ahead.

What would you improve about this program?
I think some lessons can be shorter, i sometimes struggled with long descriptions and i would've preferred shorter explanations for easier topics but that's just me and how i like to study.
Pros
  • I could study from the comfort of my home.
  • It was much easier to get a certification through TEFL than it would've been if i were to enroll for a physical program
  • I learnt and grew so much in a short amount of time thanks to TEFL.
Cons
  • It can be hard to sit and study when you're on your own
  • Not understanding something or getting stuck on a part can be very discouraging
  • Some of the material was very basic that made me feel like i was wasting my time

A Fruitful experience

When studying my level 5 course I was working at the same time, so when I found out that the course could be done at any time I had available I was thrilled. The experience I gained from the courses that I have studied was worth it as I used what I learnt in a practical classroom setting and was able to have fruitful engagements with the students in both English and other subjects that I taught. Overall, the course proved a great foundation for those who are introduced on teaching English as a second language and being a teacher.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Do not overthink but rather simplify your thinking. Because at the end of the day you are teaching students that may or may not be well versed in the language, so engage with your work in that mindset.
Pros
  • Free flowing
  • Engaging
  • Interesting

Well balanced and interesting course

I recently completed The TEFL Academy’s Level 5 TEFL course, and overall I found it to be a very worthwhile experience. The course is fully online, self-paced, and consists of a well-structured 168 hours of content. The modules cover everything from teaching methodology and lesson planning to grammar and classroom management, and I felt they provided a solid foundation for becoming an English teacher.

One of the biggest strengths was the quality of feedback. Each assignment was graded thoroughly, with helpful comments that really encouraged me to improve. The course is also Ofqual-regulated, which gave me extra confidence that my certificate would be recognized internationally. Support was responsive whenever I had questions, and I appreciated the flexibility of studying at my own pace.

In terms of value for money, this is definitely a step up from shorter, cheaper TEFL options — especially if you want a respected qualification that will help you stand out when applying for teaching positions. It took some discipline to complete, but the knowledge and practical skills I gained have already made me feel much more prepared to enter the classroom.

If you’re looking for a credible, challenging course that will give you both theory and practical tools for teaching, I’d highly recommend The TEFL Academy’s Level 5 TEFL.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
The last assignement was difficult but I managed to pass.
Pros
  • Own pace
Cons
  • Lack of communicating with other students
