Best trip to Thailand ever

I did the Thailand Total tour with trutravels. I had an amazing unforgettable four weeks backpacking in North and South Thailand. I did things I have never done in my life. In North, one day we went hiking in the middle of the mountains and on our way we went into waterfalls. Then we reached a very small village in the middle of the mountain with all animals from pigs to roosters to chickens to bulls to dogs. There we all slept in a room inside mosquito nets. We had an amazing night there next to fire playing games and enjoyed our time out of the city under a sky that was full of stars. The sky was so beautiful I could not stop looking at it. From village we went rafting and passed elephants in the river which was sooo exciting. Then we visited an elephant farm, cleaned them, washed them, and gave them food. We went to the most amazing water park ever near Chang Mai which was built inside a huge canyon. It was so magnificent I began crying when I saw it. We took a cooking course and have a huge fire in our pans. Was just so exciting. In the city of Pai we went on a raft inside a cave near and saw huge columns which were nearly 3000 years old. I went for the first time to a hot spring and then we went to an amazing canyon near Pai. We went Zip lining were we had amazing green fields under our feet and we were flying over them. We visited 7 waterfalls which had fish in them that were biting us while we were swimming there. Last but not leat we went cycling and visited several temples.
Ben was our guide in North and she made sure everyone is happy and has the best time. She did her best when I became motion sick on our way to Pai and helped me recover. She always made sure we are safe and we have all the information we needed to enjoy our trip. She also made sure we know how to spend the night and where are the places for eating and partying.

Before we go to South, I was afraid the South would be boring and we should seat on the beach the whole day doing nothing. Noooo way. I had such a crazy time there I cannot describe my joy. We first went to the national park which was a huge lake that had very huge rocks in it and many small or big islands. I had the best time ever there. I went swimming there and then I went kayaking for the first time in my life, and I began exploring the islands there on my own. We had really good food there and stayed there over night. Then we went to the first island Ko Pha Ngan with the sweetest beach ever: the bottle beach. There were many rocks on one side of the beach and I went to climb them and was just amazed how beautiful these rocks are. They were changing in color and shape all the time as I was moving forward. We had fire show there and we made fire balloons. We also went hiking at 6.30 am and reached the top of island which was sooo beautiful. I also had a coconut directly from the tree. Then we went to Mad monkey hostel where I became the bier olympics champion and had a hell of fun. We took a boat there and went snorkeling the whole day. We jupmed out of boat into the ocean many times which was sooo crazy. First we began from the first floor of the boat and then we went to the roof to jump. Then we moved to Koh Tao island which was the heaven for snorkeling. I had never seen such beautiful marin life in my life. The fish and plants under water were just unblievable. I did also for the first time in my life stand up paddeling in the middle of ocean. Was crazy fun. We took a boat there and jumped from the roof of boat into the sea which was really frightening but we did it any way because it was so exciting. We had a delicious lunch on the boat, exploared several places for snorkeling and enjoyed the sun. Then we had one free day which I again went to snorkel further. Then we moved to Phi Phi island which is the heaven for partying. I went to a really cool pool party there for free and spent the nights on the beach partying and dancing. We also went there on a pirate boat and during our
pirate boat trip we visited monkeys, did kayakking and stand up paddeling and snorkeling, went to bamboo beach which was a heaven of beauty, and then danced in the boat until we got back to Phi Phi. Then we moved to Phuket which was unfortunately our last day.

Our guid Bee was a very smart girl with an amazing character. She was always open to questions and we knew she is there for us if we need help. She helped me even after the tour was finished while I was in Phuket. She was already in her home town as the tour was finished two days before. However, she had assured me before she leaved that she will help if I get into any problem about my transfer to airport. When the driver who should have picked me up to airport did not show up, I called her and she arranged that the driver and I find each other. If it was not for her help, I would have missed my flight home or ended up paying 30 euro to airport. I just loved to walk next to her and listen to her. She had a big passion for Thailand culture and she was appreciating my passion and energy to explore the country.

Regarding accomodation: I could not have asked for more. Super nice and clean and spacious double rooms with private bathroom and almost all hotels in North and South had a swimming pool. The location of all of them was also very good: near the beach and shopping market.

The transportation was just perfect: we never waited even a single minute for a van. They were always ready the moment we were getting there no matter if it was a boat trip or if we were arriving from another side of Thailand on a night train or night ferry. The transportation was ready for us.

I loved every single moment of my Thailand holiday with TruTravels. There is not a single thing I would change on this trip. Many thanks to all of you who made this trip possible, Bee and Ben and Steff in TruTravels London office who helped me with booking my trip.

What would you improve about this program?
Just keep it like this. I loved the tour. Thanks a lot.

Vietnam Explorer

I think this tour had a fabulous mixture of culture and fun, a lot was packed in so I felt I got a great taste of Vietnam. My only complaint would be that I thought Ninhvana was a day too long, one night there was enough I believe. Generally, the accomodation was a very good standard and very comfortable.

Edna was an amazing tour guide, she was caring, attentive and made every effort to ensure we were okay and entertained. She took us to a variety of restaurants, ensuring we got a taste of Vietnamese cusine as well as some home comforts. When our night bus to Hanoi got messed up (due to an error of the bus company), she dealt with it well and was very quick to arrange alternative transport for us.

Overall I've had the best couple of weeks. I am very thankful to Edna and TruCrew for making it some of the best weeks of my life!

What would you improve about this program?
I think I would extend it a day or so so more time could be spent in some of the cities, I don't feel I saw much of Ho Chi Minh City and I would have felt the same about Hanoi had I not stayed an extra day after the tour.

17 Day Vietnam Explorer

I had an amazing time on this tour, Edna our tour guide was amazing always willing to help and even showed me round Sigon just the two of us when I arrived two days early before the tour even started. Vietnam is a beautiful country and this was a great way to see it as a first time solo traveler it really was a great introduction, I met some great people on the tour we had an excellent group. If you want to see an amazing country and have a fun time then definitely check out the tour. It was the perfect mix of activities in the day ranging from the chilling by the beach one day, to a history museum or quad biking or kayaking the next. Going out in the evening was always fun, our guide aways new the best bars and restaurants to take us to. The food was always good with lots of options for the more adventurous and street food was always interesting. The accommodation was always nice, basic at times but always clean and comfortable.

Vietnam explorer

I have thoroughly enjoyed my experiences in Vietnam. The highlights were;
- bike ride in Hoi An
- bamboo basket tour
- sand dunes
- Hai Van Pass/mode traveling
- War Museum/Ho Chi Minh
- Hanoi and explore day
- Cooking Class
I would have liked to have spent more time in Hanoi and Hoi An, I would liked more cultural activities to be included.

Our tour guide, Edna was very enthusiastic, hardworking, good communicator/ always updated us on facebook groups, fun, informative and caring.

We did however encounter cancellation in our overnight bus which meant we were delayed 3 hours. We ended up getting an overnight train, Edna tried her best to organize and alternative route from the bus. It would have been good to have more communication from the Trutravels team to plan, however we did kindly recieve a free complimentary meal.

Thank you Edna for a great 17 days tour of Vietnam!

What would you improve about this program?
More cultural activities, longer time in Hoi An and Hanoi.

Fantastic experience

I’ve just completed the 14 day northern Thailand tour with Arthur as our tour guide. It’s been one of the best experiences of my life with much thanks given to TruTravels and Arthur in particular.

The organisation was fantastic, including the communication prior to the tour beginning and I had complete peace of mind that I was in good hands from when Arthur met me at the airport.

In terms of the tour itself, it was exactly what I was looking for with a great itinerary of activities and the perfect amount of “down time”.

There were just 4 of us in our group, but we all got on great and Arthur certainly mixed in with us very well and became the 5th member of the group!

All in all, a great experience and fantastic value for money, I would definitely look to go with TruTravels again or recommend to anyone.

What was your funniest moment?
The banter on the first night including our tour guide Arthur showing off his guitar skills

Vietnam explorer tour

The Vietnam Explorer tour has been the 4th Trutravels tour I have done and has definitely been one of my favourites! You get to see a lot of the country during the trip, but it doesn't feel rushed and even when some of the transportation between places was delayed/changed Edna handled it really well, so the distance travelled wans't stressful. My personal highlights of the trip was quad-biking in the sand dunes, Ninhvana and Castaways,I loved all of it, everything was so much fun! The fact that we had such a good group and the tour guide meant that the experience was so enjoyable - the fact Trutravels tours are so social is an aspect I really like as I've made great friends who I got to share the experience with the cooking class and war museums, were also really good activities as it taught us more about vietnamese culture and history which is important. We got to experience culture as well as partying which I'm really glad for.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would advise future travellers on this programme to be prepared for lots of travelling between places and that transport can sometimes be really long and may be late or changed last minute. This in no way made me enjoy the tour any less as it was handled well but you should be prepared for things to go wrong but not let it ruin your trip as it always worked out in the end.

Vietna-mazing!

Having travelled with TruTravels a couple of years ago, I had no hesitation in booking myself on another tour with this incredible company - and it didn't disappoint! I had such an amazing time; from ripping around the sand dunes on quad bikes, to navigating the Hai Van Pass, my time in Vietnam is one I won't forget it a while! Out tour guide Darrin was amazing and had everything nailed down. Needed advice on something? Darrin was there. Wanted to know more about the place we were visiting? Darrin was there. Needed another beer... you get the idea! To be fair, even since arriving back in the UK, Darrin has been on hand helping to sort out an issue I have with a tailor in Hoi An - couldn't ask for a better tour guide

The tour itself consisted of both culture and a fair amount of partying, good vibes and great friends. I'll be honest, I'd have preferred a little less of the partying at places like Castaways, instead kayaking through the caves and learning more about the landscape would have been cool, but don't let that put you off - if you're thinking of booking, you won't regret it! We saw some amazing sights like the War Museum, Dark Caves and the nightlife in Hoi An, all of which were incredible in their own ways.

I've made friends for life, created memories I'll never forget and have already decided on my next TruTravels tour!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
Standing at the top of what could be considered a cliff edge in the sand dunes, moments before the Vietnamese guys said "Right, shall we drive down there?"

Our tour guide bee 🐝

The island hopper tour was incredible fully recommend to anyone, great value for money. What made it so memorable however was our tour guide bee she was so helpful and it would not have been the same without her! The first couple days we stayed in Bangkok visiting temples and enjoying city life, then we went to Khao sok national park which was floating bungalows! My favourite part of the trip by far! Then Koh pangyang we did bottle beach and then city side of it. Koh tao was next where we did boat trips and also in phi phi. We finished in phuket where it's a chilled couple days before departure. All the way through the tour bee was there for everyone with any help she could give. She is a credit to tru travels. Anyone thinking about doing it definitely should and if you get bee as your guide your in for a great time.

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Scorpian on Koh San road was really weird tasted like bbq

Excellent guide (gogi)

Gogi was by far the best tour guide I've ever had and made this an exceptional trip. He was the highlight of the tour. He has become more than a guide and it is strange to refer to him in such a way as he is more of a friend and was to everyone on the tour. He was part of the group rather than staff. Always with a smile he aimed it help everyone and make sure they were having a good time while having all their needs taken care of!

Gogi participated in all our activities including ones that weren't part of the tour (night activities requested were lady boy show, many bar night, and muai Thai boxing) he organised and booked all of these. He also provided secret birthday celebrations for 2 of the people on the tour and we were lucky we could repay gogi with celebrations on our last night.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
Visiting the hilltribe village. Highlight of the tour.

Total Thailand review

My experience with trutravels total Thailand was good. The best part of my northern experience was how amazing Gogi was. Gogi is an incredibly kind person and very comforting to have especially for people traveling solo in a country they have never been in. The whole trip he was also so happy to help us answer all our questions and fix any accommodations we may asked for. Our trip would have honestly not been what it was if it wasn’t for Gogi. I missed my flight to leave to Bangkok and Gogi always stood in contact with me to help me find another flight and meet the group on day 2. I was so thankful for him he’s truly an outstanding tour guide. The tour itself was great with lots of activities. It was frustrating that the train tickets to return to Bangkok weren’t bought on time and we had to pay for the flight (after 1000bhat) I don’t think that was fair because it was not our fault the train tickets weren’t bought on time. Also I do think the itinerary and photos on the websites were not slightly matched with the actual itinerary we did. But other than that everything was great but none of my negative experiences were with Gogi he actually made it much better and I’m so grateful he was my tour guide. We loved Gogi

What would you improve about this program?
The day pool we went to in pai was a very dirty pool which wasn’t pleasant nor did I enjoy or go in the water.. also I think people should be informed at how long the hiking is in northern Thailand I wasn’t aware of it
