A Summer over seas.

I was so hesitant about doing a internship over seas since I’m a anxious person. But it was the best choice I could have ever made. I was so well versed in the culture and different ways of life. I got to do so many awesome things from different workshops and activities to even singing karaoke with random natives. I got to learn my favorite places and not so favorite places. My internship at flip productions was really helpful, I got to learn a lot about me but also learn professional skills to help with my every day life and my future. I dealt with a lot overseas like a loss of a family member but everyone was so kind. I’m so glad I stepped outside my comfort zone and made the right choice. I made friends who I still talk to and want to move back to Tokyo in the future! If you have any questions reach out to me on social media! @ _.heyitsmeg._ id love to share more of my experience.

What would you improve about this program?
My accommodation, I was in a separate accommodation then most of the people in my program. I felt isolated and just wanted other people around.

LA was a dream come true!

I absolutely enjoyed my program and were I worked, it’s one I would never forget. Everything was well organized by the Intern Group and I was happy I was able to meet other interns that were eager to explore too! We explored the Hollywood, downtown and everywhere else you could imagine. The American culture is very vibrant and I’m grateful for my co-workers at work who were very hands on in the office and also showed me around the city too. I was able to discover myself and come out of my shell, test my social skills and improve on my work ethics. I realized that the corporate world is not as daunting as it seems; you learn along the way so don’t be nervous. You don’t have to know all If you’re contemplating, don’t think too hard! Just do it!!

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Don’t panic! Go out and explore! Google maps and Uber are your best friends!

Worth every penny

Lots of fun. Had a fantastic time and I would absolutely do it again. You meet great people, try great food and have the experience of a life time. Even if the internship company isn't exactly towards your career field, I still think it's absolutely worth a try. The staff were very helpful and friendly. Don't be nervous about adjusting. You'll get used to everything quickly. I love Tokyo and there's no better city to do an internship at. By far my favorite experience was visiting mount Fuji. While the city is great, it was cool to see the more rural parts of Japan. The schedule is also flexible enough that you will have time to visit many other places around Japan. Tokyo alone would take you years to explore fully. There's so much to do and see.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Save money by walking when you can. The train is great but it adds up quickly. Consider renting a bike. Everyone here rides, you will blend right in. Don't be afraid to try new foods too.

Tokyo

Honestly loved Tokyo. Everything about it, like the sights, especially Shibuya Crossing! Make sure you guys get an international drivers permit so you guys can do mario kart like me! Mario Kart was amazing! Once in a lifetime experience. Airi and Shaina were super helpful and so cool. Whenever I needed help or any sort of assistance, they were always there for me plus they give good recommendations for local sights to see!
Tokyo is amazing for those who love taking pics too, there are places like Tokyo Tower, Asakusa Temple and mount fuji. The art museums are cool as well such as the Mori art museum and the Epson Digital Art Museum.
I have also been to DisneySea, one of the coolest places that I have been too!
In terms of work experience, I believe that I have learnt a lot about the tech field, such as programming cameras and maintaining internet networks.

What was your funniest moment?
Doing Mario Kart through the streets of Tokyo! It was so funny seeing people taking pics and videos of you.

Best Decision I’ve Ever Made!

This program was worth every cent. My 6 weeks in Dublin was perfect in every way! The Intern Group coordinators Paul, Caragh, and Isis made sure everything ran smoothly. It was so nice having a built in group of friends with the other interns and to have activities planned every week. I was really happy with my placement at a solicitors office! It was right on the Liffey and next to the Four Courts! I couldn’t believe the opportunities I got from this experience! I was able to go to court and participate. I was also tasked with writing some portions of legal documents for the solicitors I interned for. It was such a good learning experience and I was able to establish great connections with my coworkers. This internship has only made me want to move to Ireland after graduation! It was that good of an experience!

What was your funniest moment?
I had so many funny moments! I remember laughing most every night with the other interns. We were always getting into funny situations!

Well-organized internship and outstanding cultural experience

I´ve recently spent 6 weeks in Bangkok to join the international internship Program hosted by the intern group. The support from the Intern Group is remarkable. Even before my arrival in Bangkok I was professionally guided through all Visa steps and I received helpful advice that need to be considered when travelling and working abroad. By the time I arrived in Bangkok all new interns were welcomed with an authentic Thai-dinner and a supplementary orientation presentation given by staff from the Intern Group. After this I felt well- prepared for my first working day. Throughout my whole internship (Consultancy) I was fully involved in several interesting and challenging consulting projects that definitely equipped me with useful and new knowledge for my further professional career. Alongside the internship we had the opportunity to travel on weekends and to socialise with other interns from the program coming from all over the world (either on weekends or in evening events). My overall experience is far beyond my expectations - so everyone who is seeking a new and challenging professional experience and who is open-minded and keen to meet international people will have a great time in Bangkok!!

Changed my outlook

I had the best time with my internship abroad in Dublin. I originally had planned on going elsewhere, with Dublin as my “back-up.” Everything happens for a reason, and I am so happy I ended up in Dublin. I met the most amazing people, made friends with people I never thought I would have, and had the work experience of a lifetime.
I have never lived away from home or traveled by myself, and I was so welcomed when I went to Ireland. There were people like me from all over the world coming to have the same experience as myself. There is something so magical in that! The community created and nurtured by The Intern Group was so safe and comforting.
My internship was nothing short of amazing. I learned so much about an industry I was interested in but didn’t know much about. I felt like everyone involved was really caring about how I did, what I was learning, and where I would take this opportunity beyond Dublin.

What was your funniest moment?
On one of our outings, we were meant to go to the cliffs of moher. We’d all woken up very early to make the bus. We go on, all fell asleep, and woke a few hours later to an Irishman singing tunes and talking about the blarney castle and the tour we were going on! We were all so confused but ended up having such “craic” on the impromptu trip to the blarney castle.

The Importance of Networking

The Intern Group gave me the opportunity to work with a publishing house that got my foot in the door for the career path I want; but it also introduced me to people in my program across the world. I now have connections in Germany, America, Canada, New Zealand, and, of course, Ireland where I interned. I can utilize those connections for professional and travel purposes whether I'm trying to scope out a job in their area or crash on a couch because we're good friends. Getting the experience of working in a different country will give you the extra leg on the competition for a job because it shows your flexibility, courage, and, most of all, your ability to network. I'm so thankful that I got to work with The Intern Group and Columba Books.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?

Dublin Summer Internship, Michael Neeson

The internship was just what I needed, exactly when I needed it:

-Meaningful experience in the field I wanted
-A way to explore a city and country in more detail
-Networking through TIG
-Making great friends from all over the world

It has been a highlight of my year, and invaluable to me personally. The staff at TIG Dublin bring so much fun, personality and experience to the group. All the little things, like the detail of planning for the day trips, to keeping up with everyone day to day. They make an effort to get to know you, and share themselves in return.

The accommodation was excellent, and being in close proximity with the other who are interning across the city make it easy to make connections.

I cannot recommend this highly enough.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Do as much as possible during your free time, with the interns you meet.
Evening trips out to a beach, day trips out to the mountains, weekend trips to the opposite coast or overseas. These are the memories you treasure most.

The intern group is a wonderful company that I would recommend to anyone who is looking to complete an internship abroad. I did my internship in Dublin, Ireland and it was the experience of a lifetime. From the moment I got to Dublin I felt welcomed by The Intern Group. I worked at a very interesting company that taught me a lot about the industry I wanted to work in. The Intern Group also did a very good job of setting up trips and fun experiences around Dublin and Ireland. The cliffs of moher were one of the most beautiful things I have ever experienced in my entire life, and visit the Guinness Storehouse was also one of the coolest things I’ve done. Overall I would rate this program and my experience in Dublin as am A+ and the reason for that is because of The Intern Group and the team they have in Dublin.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
I would recommend that you go in with an open mind and willingness to try new things
