Amazing 6-month Virtual Internship Experience

Glad that I found the organization I work for right now through TIG. At the beginning, I wasn't really considering this type of company but because TIG listed as one of the five options for me, I had a try for the interview. Turned out it didn't disappoint! I'm happy with both TIG and my employer. Even though the internship is online, I never felt that I was alone. There are always different kinds of online events that you can participate, from trivia to networking, my advice is to be open to the experience! I learned so much professionally and grew as a person. I also liked that there is a 3-month coupon for online therapy at TalkSpace. We all know how the past year has been challenging in many ways, so talking to someone professional definitely helped me to be more positive and set the right mindset not only for now but also for the future.

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
If I can do another round, I'd like to try interning for a different company in a different industry. Just to explore!

Unforgettable Experience

I joined the January 2020 program for a month and it was such an amazing journey. I was signing up late for the program, but the Intern Group people were very handy to finally got me the internship that I want at the last minute! Everything was excellent and the other interns whom we got to share apartment with were all friendly, we then become friends until now! I learnt that if you really want something, you will get it if you put effort in it. Oh, I was faced with language barrier, but it wasn’t a big deal since Thai people are friendly, just don’t be shy to blend in! Definitely recommended :)

What would you improve about this program?
I think this program would be better if the check in procedures does not cooperate with a third party The Intern Group don’t really know about. I waited 30 minutes to be picked up since I was told to meet a guy who holds a paper of my name, but when I was there, I could not find the described guy. It was overwhelming!

Sam’s Internship Experience - Toronto

My time on program with The Intern Group has been one of the best experiences of my life (only 22 years but still)! Although I came to Toronto from Australia, just before a very poor time (COVID-19 shutdown), I have still had a sensational time in regards to work and free-time (even if the bars are closed) and managed to land myself a full-time role with my host company at the conclusion of my program!!
100% worth the time and money commitment because the people you meet, and the experience you gain is invaluable both for your career and life.
Could not recommend more for anyone on the fence about taking the leap!! Do it!

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
First day of my internship, by far! I went in knowing very little about my field (recruitment), but I was trained very well and was able to fit in with everyone very quickly!!

Thank you to my past self for making the decision to intern with TIG

Before I decided to intern in Ireland, I was unsure of my next move in life: I felt slightly stuck and stagnant. So when I stumbled upon the opportunity to intern with the Intern Group, I jumped at the chance. It is a decision I will be thanking myself for for many years to come. I was able to apply myself in a new direction and experience new and exciting things with an amazing group of people. After I had been accepted into the program, I prepared myself to be a solo tourist; however, as soon as I stepped off of the plane I was supported by the Dublin team and immediately welcomed into the group that was already there. The team cultivated a sense of unparalleled community that maintained as a constant through all of the trips and outings along the way. I made so many connections on top of the cultural and professional experiences (those too surpassing the expectations I had in place before leaving home).

As an organization, the Intern Group is a professional and reliable system that can advance you to new and exciting places. As a group of people, the Intern Group cannot get much better; it would be a worthy challenge to try to find a team more enthusiastic about helping you to find the opportunities, people, and places that you would not be able to find in most other settings.

Amazing experience

I did my internship in Dublin and I am grateful I was able to take part in the Intern Group program. Every aspect of the program was professional, valuable and worth my time. Not only was my internship one that will help me in my future career, the community and social events were also better than I could have ever hoped for. The whole process of applying, getting accepted, getting my placement, pre arrival communications, orientation, the actual internship and exit interview were all executed professionally and added value to me.

Can't fault them!

I arrived in New York just as the severity of the outbreak became realised. I worked for 2 days in the office before then spending the remaining two weeks working form home. With the support of Brian and Isis, I made the decision to fly home early but continue my internship from home. I couldn't have asked for better people to have guided me through this process and tried to make an unprecedented situation feel more normal. The weekend social activities (before the city got shut down) were so impressive and I was gutted not too have been able to do them all! Thank you so much to Brian, Isis, Hanna and all at the Intern Group for going above and beyond in these times and do their utter best to support, advise and try to give us all an amazing experience

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Go with an open mind and throw yourself into everything that is on offer!

Experience of a lifetime

I had an amazing time in London this winter. The team in London made a wonderful community for us all, especially Thomas - thank you! I really don't have enough words to describe how fun this experience was. It was beyond fun and I made more real friends than I’ve made in college. And I didn’t know anyone going on the trip and I left with lifelong friends from all over the world. The actual internship was quite a bit tougher than I expected but I got a lot out of it. The biggest challenge was the intensity of the internship which I took some getting used to, but by the end I became accustomed to it and really liked it. I’m usually critical of programs I participate in but The Intern Group program was the time of my life.

What would you improve about this program?
I'd have shorter options available. I really only had enough time for 1 month and it was very hard for me to fit in a 6 week program.

Response from The Intern Group

Dear Spencer, we’re really sorry to hear that you didn’t enjoy your program with us in 2018. Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. Your honesty helps us to improve the program for future interns.

We’re really sorry that your accommodation negatively impacted your experience. As you had requested same sex housing and your program was outside of our summer season, the accommodation we could provide was a homestay, which was discussed during your enrollment process. This accommodation is located further away than our standard accommodation. All of our family homestays are provided by the same accommodation provider we have partnered with for over 7 years and all meet the British Family Homestay Certification.

Regarding the size of your host organization, with entrepreneurship as one of your career field preferences, our placement team paired you with an exciting organization where they believed you would get invaluable hands-on experience. We’re sorry to hear this was not the case.

Again, we are really sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your internship experience. If you have any other feedback or would like to talk about this in further detail please email us at info@theinterngroup.com.

Really experience Thai culture, while furthering your professional career.

Interning in Bangkok, I have seen my professional and cultural skills flourish. I was a landscape architecture intern at Landprocess for the duration of 8 weeks. During my time there I grew and developed my communication and technical skills through a range of hands on projects. The internship was challenging — but in all the best ways. The education goes beyond the traditional model of your university studies, and pushes you to be creative and innovative. One of the highlights was the collaborative nature of the workplace culture. The friendships and connections formed during my time in Bangkok will stay with me for years to come. This program was a fantastic way to really experience Thai culture, all while furthering my professional career. The inclusive cultural experiences were a great way to get to know the other interns, as well as hour new home — Bangkok. If you are someone who wants to excel in their field, explore the world, and meet interesting, new people from different cultures, this program is for you!
