Intern Group - International Dublin Internship

I had such an incredible experience during my 10-week internship with the Intern Group! Dublin is one of my new favourite cities, and it was amazing to be able to explore more of Europe so easily while I was there.
The weekly get together's with the other interns ensured I never felt alone while I was there, and I met so many amazing people through them! Our Community Manager was exceptional at ensuring everyone was included, felt comfortable, and always had fun.
The internship itself allowed me to feel challenged and valued, and the coworkers I met were all so intelligent and kind. Everyday I felt appreciated and included there, while learning so much from each of them!
Once in a lifetime experience for sure. Missing it like crazy already!

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
To live in the moment more, and embrace every experience that came my way - without doubting anything.

Experience of a Lifetime

Through this program, I was able to travel around Japan since I interned for a travel agency. It was not what I expected. I got more out of this internship than I thought I would since my interview process only mentioned things related to recruitment and community development. The timing was great because my company helped in creating marketing strategies for American basketball fans coming for the 2020 Olympics to be held in Japan next year. My internship gave me experience in marketing as well because of these opportunities to help government officials and my company market to an international audience. I also got to experience the fast-paced lifestyle. I saw how historical areas are surrounded by high-tech lifestyle. The program coordinators are kind and they do their best to make sure that you are settled in and comfortable. They are always available 24/7 to help you with anything.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The most surprising thing I ever saw was the Hakone Shrine. It was amazing to see a shrine built by the water. I ventured outside of Tokyo and wanted to see the beauty in other prefectures.

Amazing experience and great work experience

I had a really fun and meaningful internship with the Intern Group in my summer holidays. The company I was allocated is very supportive and really allows the interns to have the freedom to express their own ideas. I was able to take my own initiative and carry out my ideas instead of being told what to do by my boss, this experience has really made me grow as a person. The activities planned by the Intern Group were really fun and engaging, we were able to experience the local food and sceneries, giving us an opportunity to know more in-depth about the city. Overall the experience is very memorable for me and I really had lots of fun with the other interns and my colleagues in the company. Last but no least, the accommodation was really new and furnished, the local coordinators are very helpful and they always help us when we have a problem.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Embrace the new environment and try to talk to your colleagues because it really helps you to know the country more and build new friendships

What would you improve about this program?
Maybe we could be given more choices on the company we are going to intern in.

Super nice!

Everyone is super nice and supportive. My internship was really fun and I learned a lot. I took photoshop and illustrator in class for my college classes, but I felt like I didn’t learn a lot and I didn’t really remember about it after the classes. However, through this internship, the skills that I have acquired through using photoshop and illustrator is being used everyday and it helps me with remembering all the keyboard shortcuts and everything. The staff of the intern group is also really nice and took us out to get us to know more about the city. We also had a cultural etiquette workshop to learn more about shanghai’s Culture and also a shanghai cooking class to learn how to cook chinese shanghainese food! It was really yummy and lots of fun.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Remember to download vpn before arriving here because it’s hard to get it after arriving

Madrid Internship

I strongly suggest doing an internship with the Intern Group, I did the 12 weeks program working as a Digital Content Creator Trainee for a company provider of Digital Marketing Services, it was my first real work experience and the Intern Group did it the friendliest way possible, at the company I enjoyed my work a lot and wanted to learn so I got the opportunity to get involved with other departments such as design and programming which were very useful experience for me in future opportunities. About the housing, the Intern Group helps you with this process and for me it was a great experience I ended up making lifetime friendship with my flat mates which we are still in contact two years after, for me what I liked the most is that all of us came from different cultures and we were all very open minded about it. About the city I think I couldn’t have found a better city for me for doing this experience, even though I was doing a job experience I met students from all over the world and I could always find a nice terrace or rooftop to have a beer with the best views of the city.
This experience also had a huge personal growth in me, learning to move by myself in a new city and looking after myself, at first it was an intimidating experience and a bit difficult to be honest but I wouldn’t change anything out of it, and after being done with this I ended up very interested in doing another international experience. After I finish the internship I went back to Mexico to do my last semester in university and after I graduated I started looking for job opportunities in different countries and because of this internship I was able to find a job in Paris as manager for the digital marketing for the Spanish market in a startup.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
My most nerve-racking moment was right when I arrive and I still didn't have a housing, I didn't know anyone in the city but it help me thinking that I always had the Intern Group backing me up in case I had any problem

Self Development and Interesting Experiences

Going to Shanghai was my first traveling experience and i can never be more happier that i chose to do this with the intern group! Tommy and Olivia are such great people that really try to help you as much as possible while also making sure you are having a great time and experience in Shanghai by doing some fun activities and enjoying delicious meals together. What i gained from this trip was to be more independent and do your best to communicate with others which was a stretch for me. This program helped me get out of my comfort zone and really improved as a person! Also, the company where i worked really enhanced my skills for the career i am pursuing so now i feel more confident with my skills! I'm glad i had the choice to choose this startup business because i feel like i showed them some things and vice-versa. During this 4 week duration at Shanghai I have done things i would never have done back home which is exactly what i was looking for! The only downfall was the hotel service because of miscommunication and delays but other than that the stay was fine. Overall, the intern group really developed me as a person and taught me to always live your best life and enjoy trying new things even though they can be completely different from what you are used to. Thanks The Intern Group! You might see me again soon.. ;)

What was the most unfamiliar thing you ate?
Donkey. I didn't know it was Donkey until after i ate it. But i ate it an it was actually very good. Thanks Olivia and Tommy for that lol.

Something for everyone

I stayed in Bangkok for a month and will remember this experience for a lifetime. The internship company had me working on a relevant project which made me feel like I was contributing to the company and also allowed me to work flexible hours which let me explore the city. With food stalls, shopping malls and street markets everywhere, there's something for everyone in Bangkok. I loved exploring randomly and would encourage future interns to do the same. It's fairly simple to use the train system and you can always get a motorcycle ride for shorter journeys too! The intern group coordinator in Bangkok was very friendly and helpful too whenever you needed anything. They organised weekly social activities too which were a great way to bond with fellow interns in different companies. The Thai cooking class would be my standout activity and would highly recommend anyone visiting Bangkok to try. I'd also encourage travelling outside Bangkok to Amphwa floating market, Ayuthaya (Old capital), Pattaya beach or even the islands in the south if you can on weekends or public holidays. There's so much to see in Thailand so definitely make the most of your time there!

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
One of the experiences that I definitely will remember for a long time is the 12 hour overnight train I took from Bangkok to Surat Tani. It's something I've seen on TV before arriving and wanted to try. Seeing both the sunset and sunrise from a moving train with the beautiful scenery of Thailand was certainly memorable.

Professional development, cultural immersion and international friendships!

My experience with TIG Madrid exceeded my expectations. The immense support from TIG's team helped me adjust to living and working in a foreign country. Also the organized social events (shout-out to Carlos!) contributed a lot to fostering community between the interns while helping us explore the city and live like a local.
I was placed in a perfect internship which helped me secure my dream position upon arrival back home. The professional development is invaluable and having an internship abroad is a once in a lifetime experience.
10/10 would recommend this program! You're investing in not only your professional life but personal via The Intern Group.
THANK YOU Lalita, Carlos, Laura and Beatriz for making my time in Spain unforgettable!

What would you improve about this program?
I would not change anything about the program!!!!!

A great career building and travel combination

My time in Toronto with TIG was truly awesome. They have a great staff network (Vanessa and Sabine) based in Toronto who always provided support as well as a heap of fun, always organising fresh new cultural activities. The housing is also in a great location, and gives you a chance to explore Toronto (highly recommend a Raptors game). I selected the program because I wanted to travel as well as build my career, and in this respect TIG, and Toronto did not disappoint. I got to travel to New York, Montreal, Banff and also Niagara Falls in addition to building my experience in the marketing communications field, gaining an awesome career mentor in the process. The rare opportunity to live in a new city and meet people around the world is truly epitomised in this program.
