Engineering intern in Madrid

The experience I have got from this programme is extremely valuable and unforgettable, but most of all, it was a big step to the engineering profession. Thanks to this programme, I've got to work with an engineering consultant company. Although I cannot speak Spanish, I received a warm welcome from everyone in this company, and we also worked on a large-scale international project which is very interesting to me who was just a 3rd year engineering student. I have obtained new technical skills and also learnt to work as a team in a real-life project.

Madrid is also a very unique city for me in many ways. Yes, it was hard for me to get used to a lot of things when I was not able to speak Spanish at all. Even so, most true Spaniards are very easy to get along and willing to help others in need. This city is also good for foodies, and I am not talking about Paella as there are so many other Spanish food/drinks that I like and miss so much. Come to find out yourself!

Living in Madrid is also not expensive: just go to any spanish-brand supermarket's website and see for yourself. Eating outside for a "menu del dia" cost about 10 euro. And hey did I mention that Zara is a Spanish company? Madrid is a place for a shopaholic.

What would you improve about this program?
The accommodation should be regularly checked by Interngroup' staff that if there is any problem or the interns follow the rule of the apartment.

Good internship experience

The internship experience is generally good! The intern group Colombia found a really good internship host for me. I learnt a lot and utilised my skills in the internship. Medellin is a great city to visit. People are friendly here and the weather is great. The intern group also arranged a Guatape tour, which was fantastic. The staff at the intern group are very attentive. They resolve all the issues in time. Just one little tip, if you want really good accommodation, you can arrange your own. The hotels in Medellin are generally very cheap. It is a good way to boost your hotel elite status ;)

If you did this all over again, what's one thing you would change?
I would stay in a hotel from the beginning.

Great Experience

This was a great experience in Hong Kong! The support I received was great and there are weekly activities organised for us to explore our location! This allowed me to establish friendships with people from a variety of backgrounds which made me realize that despite our differences, there are always ways we can connect with one another! I would definitely recommend this program! This program is very international and made me understand how to build a professional circle of your own. I feel like this program allowed me to discover my weaknesses and strengths in a professional sense, which will allow me to develop further as a working professional. There are many industries and areas offered in this program which makes is very suitable for individuals with different career paths!

What would you improve about this program?
More destinations in the future! Despite the huge number of cities the program offers, adding some more less known cities would be interesting!

Really enjoyable experience!

I'm an Australian and I went on the London program for eight weeks. As a whole I really enjoyed living in London and building a network through my internship but in the end, it is A LOT of money to be spending. For my experience I flipped the bill myself and that really made me think whether I was getting value for money. I did enjoy the career workshops (the career coach is amazing!) and events included in the program but those alone, and the accommodation, should have not totalled to such an amount.

The internship I had was good, the people were amazing, and I learnt a lot. Just be aware if you're contemplating going during the holiday season, it is a slow time of the year. Most companies close (I had about a week off over Christmas and New Year’s) over that time, and the first week back of the New Year can also be a little slow. Just measure your expectations, there won't always be things for you to do.

Regarding the social aspect, the individuals on the actual program were mostly Australian or American (during my time from Dec), but don't let that dishearten you if you're looking for a more international experience. I interned with people from the UK (obviously) and Spain and ended up living with some Germans. No matter which way you look at it, if you put in the effort, you'll meet people from around the world.

Enjoy it while you can because I'm going to be honest, I loved it! Of course, there are going to be pros and cons, but you have to remember you're in LONDON one of the most buzzing cities in the world. There are always things to do and it's amazing. As an intern, I built an international network (my goal) and I learnt a lot about the industry. As a tourist, I'd never been to London and even in its dreary winter state, I fell in love with the city. It really is awesome!

In the end I'd really recommend doing the program if you're looking to work internationally in the future, just be prepared to fork out the funds.

What would you improve about this program?
We are paying a lot of money, more individual attention with the career coach would have been very nice. The company that the Intern Group outsource their housing too is hopeless; our heating went out twice and the cleaners aren't the most thorough.

Also, the price seems very excessive because when you add up the program cost, the flight (from Aus), the visa (if required) and living costs, you're either going to need a lot of savings or really generous parents. Either way it could definitely be cheaper as a whole!

Hong Kong 5 Week Internship

Having TIG find you housing, plan your events, and assist with finding a job helped a lot with having my 5 week internship be stress free. I was hesitant at first as I thought TIG was a scam but soon after I applied and started doing more research, I noticed that there a lot of success stories that came out of TIG over the years

My experience at The Red Flag Group (the company I interned at) has enhanced my job search significantly even though it was my first work experience. My manager went out of her way to teach me skills that have been essential in my job search since I finished working there.

Overall, I think that TIG HK provides a great opportunity to gain experience in a beautiful city like Hong Kong while providing the support to visit famous attractions and meet many other people within the program.

Fantastic experience in HK!

The intern group provides secure accomodation and tips for making sure your internship experience is worthwhile. I interned for 2 months and I can honestly say I had the best experience when it came to making new friends, getting to know some of my colleagues and most importantly whether I wanted to pursue consultancy as a career after I completed the program. With the intern group’s help, I was able to secure a position in a financial services consultancy company, which allowed me to gain a wide depth of knowledge and experience through my mentor. Although, my first week started off mandane, I was later given more responsibilities with projects.

Nevertheless, I had a great time also getting to explore Hong Kong people from all around the world - hiking and taking part with many excursions provided by the intern group. Definitely a worthwhile experience.

A memorable first step!

Finding housing, planning your events, and finding a job is a rather big task, especially when you don't have the experience or knowledge. With The Intern Group, I was able to see a lot of what Hong Kong had to offer, live in a rather comfortable area with all the other interns, and get valuable life and work experience. I also appreciate them helping me get a visa. Going to theme parks, cooking events, and getting to see Lantau and Macau is something I'll cherish for a long time. It also helps that I was able to grow as a character while I was there and was able to live in Hong Kong, a place I really wanted to be in! I got to experience the city life, buying from the small corner store, and enjoying the most delicious food from the small restaurants you can find. I am very thankful for them, and I highly recommend them!

What would you improve about this program?
More arranged lectures with public speakers for job and life skills, and to hang out afterwards.

Highly Recommend!!

My internship experience in Shanghai with the intern group in April 2018 was both extremely enjoyable and a valuable learning experience.
Tommy and Olivia offered consistent support for all the interns. They worked tirelessly to ensure we had ample opportunities to see and experience the wonderful city while ensuring our safety at all times. Experiences such as cooking classes and day tours of nearby Suzhou were particular highlights and were seamlessly organised by Tommy and Olivia. They always made sure they were available to us to answer any questions we may have which left us feeling comfortable and safe. Without a doubt the highlight of my 2018 and an experience that I will never forget. I strongly recommend to anyone considering taking up an internship through the intern group in 2019 to take the plunge and go for it! You will make lifelong friendships and meet people from across the world.

Interning in Dublin

I was extremely lucky to complete an internship in Dublin this year.
I met so many amazing people and had the best support from The Intern Group! I loved the combination of social events with the other interns and the internship itself.
I quickly found myself feeling at home in Dublin and made friends for life!
It allowed me to grow as a person and develop my professional experience. I was also applying for jobs at the time and I was successful in gaining a position the day after returning home!
I have no regrets and wish I could do it all over again!
I would recommend this program to anyone who wants to travel and gain professional experience at the same time!
This experience has made me realise anything is possible and to make the most of any opportunity that comes your way.

3 Month Internship in HK

I'll start by saying that I was worried that the Intern Group was a scam. I learned pretty quickly that this was not the case.

I had an amazing time during my 12 week program in Hong Kong. I thought the location of where I lived was fantastic; conveniently close to public transport, to social scenes and to eating locations. The apartment itself was good; modern and clean. Living with other interns is also some of the best fun you can get.

Now I will preface to say that your experience will differ greatly depending on the place you intern at; I was SUPER lucky with an amazing company (APV), who were just wonderful.

The Intern Group do a good job of making you feel comfortable and settling you in. Any questions or doubts you have, they'll do all they can to address those issues. The events are a lot of fun, and are a great way to meet other interns; highly recommend going to them.

Thanks a lot Intern Group!
