Amazing

This program was really great. I had a lot of fun on the trip and I loved making new friends also. The counselors are amazing. They truly care about the trips and the programs. One of my favorite parts was the volunteering. We volunteered on a little farm in the country side of Greece. They made us a completely homemade dinner and it was so amazing. Not only was the food good but putting work into what we got felt great and I hope in the future I will get more experiences like this. I have been involved with travel for teens for years and I definitely advise everyone to get involved. They always run a variety of great programs and i cannot wait to continue my involvement with the organization. I love what they’re doing and their philosophy.

I had the time of my life

Before the trip, I had reservations that the program might be too pre-planned, coddled, or inflexible, especially with a group of 21 kids. After going to 4 different towns and cities, I have to say that I had the time of my life. Ryan is a very understanding and flexible trip director who works his hardest to fufill any individual wishes we might have, on the itinerary or not. Though he is very accommodating, he is certainly not a pushover either and keeps us feeling safe and secure no matter what. What really touched me was how much effort he took to get to know every individual on the trip and it was obvious to us as campers that he wanted nothing more than to provide the best possible experience for us during our time with him. Whether we were interested in scenery, socializing, food, thrills, or anything else, he made sure that we got what we wanted and that everyone’s interests were accommodated. I had the time of my life and by the time the trip was over, I felt that I had no regrets about my time at each city and felt that the trip left no stones unturned in any leg of the trip.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
The Cinque Terre, is a group of five towns perched on the dramatic coastline of Italy. I hiked around 15 miles in a day and explored these five towns.

Trip of a Lifetime

I participated in the Europe for Older Teens: Florence, Cinque Terre, Interlaken, and Paris trip. This trip was easily one of the best weeks of my life. The trip is well balanced with sight seeing, shopping, relaxing at the beach, hiking, eating, and more. The staff is amazing! They make the trip extra fun and are great to be around. They are approachable, relatable, and really care about everyone on the trip. Every city was different and the trip does a great job of getting to see as much as the city has to offer in a short time. The food is amazing and I got to try different foods unique to each city. I loved that we were able to explore on our own time while the staff was near by and easy to contact if we needed them. I made amazing friends I still talk to and memories I will never forget.

What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it?
There was an optional excursion to go paragliding in the Swiss Alps. I was the first to go out of the group; they told me just to start running off the cliff. I was terrified but it was the craziest and most amazing moment I will never forget.

So much fun!

I had never done an overnight camp before and I decided to go big and go to Scotland and Ireland with TFT! It was the best experience I ever had and I made so many memories. First off, the staff is incredible and they always take care of safety first, they are very fun, and very supportive. One of the best adventures I remember was when we went rock climbing on the cliffs and rocks on the coast of Ireland, we got to jump off from the cliffs and into the ocean and that was such a blast. We also got to visit a castle and learn about falcons and even hold them as they would fly back and forth off our arms. The food was also incredible, as we got to try typical meals like a full English breakfast and haggis. The accommodations were very good too. For two of the three places we stayed at, we stayed at a hostel. They were quite small, but with all the new friends you meet there, it does not feel weird to be within such close proximity with others. The third place we stayed at was at an outdoor activity center on Achill Island and that was the most fun since every day there was a new activity such as surfing, canoeing, coasteering (climbing the rocks by the ocean), archery, and so many more. I have traveled a lot before, but with TFT, they are always on the move and you are trying new activities and trying new food while taking in the breathtaking scenery.

What was the most surprising thing you saw or did?
At the castle where they had a flock of falcons and even some other game-catching birds, the one I will never forget is the owl they showed us. It was huge and beautiful. Its eyes were quite big and we got to see its head turn all around. It was extremely cool to see one so close up.

Trip of a lifetime

I visited Australia and New Zealand with TFT and words cannot explain how amazing it was. I experienced so many new things and met so many people that are now some of my close friends. There wasn’t a moment where I wasn’t smiling. The counselors were so fun and very responsible. I felt safe the entire time. Everyday was jam packed with sight seeing and thrilling experiences. One of my most memorable experiences was paragliding in New Zealand, it was so amazing. Another great experience was climbing the Sydney Harbour Bridge in Australia. The view was nothing like what I had seen before.I would recommend any TFT trip to any teen who’s willing to step outside of their comfort zone and explore the world. In fact, I even plan on traveling with TFT to Thailand this summer.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Be open minded and don't be afraid to try new things and step out of your comfort zone.

Best Trip Ever

I went on the Belgium, Amsterdam, Paris trip with TFT and it is safe to say that I had a life changing experience. This trip not only immersed me into the foreign cultures of countries I've never visited before, but it also benefited me socially, in a way that I never thought was possible. The counselors I had were all so thoughtfully and really cared about each and every individual on the trip. The sites were amazing and it felt as if I was on my own with friends that whole time. The amazing part was that the counselors soon become your friends during the trip. Don't even get me started on how amazing the food was throughout the trip! I don't see any possible way a person could go wrong with traveling with Travel for Teens. They do it ALL. They also take everyone's safety very serious which is nice to know if your a parent letting your kid participate in one of these amazing adventures. I 100% recommend TFT and all of the trips they offer. You really just can't go wrong!

What would you improve about this program?
Everything was AMAZING. The food was stellar, the views were spectacular, and the people were just as amazing.

Europe for Older Teens: Italy Switzerland Paris

The chance to experience all these beautiful places with great friends and counselors is so unique. I am grateful to have discovered Travel For Teens after graduating high school. It was my dream as a senior to go abroad and this trip answered all my prayers. Thank you so much for helping me step outside my comfort zone and get to see parts of the world I had only dreamed of, if only for two weeks! At first it can seem a little unusual, but once you start talking to other people in the group, you realize they are just like you. You start to make connections that form on their own because you see there are other teens who share your interests and help you adjust. The staff know just what to do and where to go. It was the time of my life, I loved it and feel inspired by the wonderful gift of traveling with TFT.

Travel for Teens: Older Teens: Amsterdam, Munich, Swiss Alps, Venice

This past summer I was lucky enough to join the second session of Travel for Teens trip for Older Teens to Amsterdam, Munich, the Swiss Alps, and Venice. I can say with complete confidence it is the best trip I have experienced with Travel for Teens insofar. I have noticed every year I enjoy the trips more and more as my confidence and trust in TFT grows and solidifies. I made instant connections with this trips two counselors; the extremely caring and understanding Marla, a college student similar in age to myself, and the hilarious and incredibly personable Ryan, who strictly maintained order while remaining a force I think everyone felt they could confide in and look up to. To me, this trip felt like a unique fusion of experience with cities, parks, natural landscapes, and history. Each destination offered something wildly different than the destination that came before, but there was a sense of seamlessness and awe that followed us through every train station, airport, and bus ride. Amsterdam allowed us to bond and ease into the language barrier and culture shock that varies across Europe for travelers, while serving as a balance between essential history and free time to explore the unique city with its canals, art museums, and countless shops. The leaders knew the best, hidden restaurants down seemingly random alleys, scenic routes to stroll down during the day, museums and sights that caused each of us to stop in our tracks, and were in tune when we needed to rest. Munich seemed less defined by the formalities and structure that were essential in establishing the group in Amsterdam, and Ryan’s love for Munich only made the experience more enjoyable. The authentic beer halls, outdoor markets, and ancient buildings were extremely effective in offering a look into the history and culture of Germany as a whole but additionally exposed what makes Munich such a unique and truly special city. I will not claim that our session’s trip to Munich went seamlessly due to the fiasco one night in a sushi shop with a woman who spoke only broken German, but we were able to laugh about it soon after and the experience proved to bring us closer as a unit. I cannot effectively convey the ethereality of riding a bike during golden hour through the gardens and parks of Munich; I just recommend you experience it for yourself. Another day that sticks out in my mind as one that you simply need to experience yourself is the day we visited Neuschwanstein Castle outside of Munich; I will never forget the dream-like state I was in for the entirety of the visit. I could not fathom the natural beauty of the landscape, the architecture, and the undeniably perfect weather. In saying this though, any trouble I encountered when we had to say goodbye to Munich was entirely forgotten when we entered Switzerland. It echoed the beauty of Germany’s natural landscape and introduced a heightened level of physical activity by way of mountain biking, canyoning, rope courses, and slack-lining. Every moment in this country was exhilarating, raw, and unforgettable. There was something intimate about the quiet nights when it rained, especially when we had free time to breathe in the landscape off of our cabins back porches. The windy van rides we took around the region, the swim in Lake Geneva at the base of a castle that offered unparalleled lookouts, and the sunsets over the snow-capped mountains every night that allowed even the most inexperienced of photographers to take pictures on par with National Geographic, combined to make our longest stop a defining feature of the trip. Despite the significant contrast between Switzerland and Italy, I can say with complete confidence that each offered something distinct and indispensable to the trip. Venice proved romantic and oddly like home despite it being my first time in Italy. There is something special about Venezians and their ability to welcome you as not even a friend, but like part of their family. Our time in Venice felt like we had arrived at the root of TFT’s goal for every trip; the trust, connections, and ease with which we could interact with each other that we achieved by the time we arrived at our final destination became strikingly clear in this hectic and loveable city. The relationships I built on this trip have set a standard for relationships I will build in my future. I have seen the instant support, understanding, and positivity that was offered by each member of our group, as well as the sense of adventure and appreciation for new things we all held in high regard, and have grown as a person because of it. Every dinner, tour, or plan does not have to run seamlessly to yield this final product, and TFT continuously proves to me its ability to facilitate an enjoyable and meaningful trip that exceeds my expectations time and time again.

TFT: My life changing experience

In the summer of 2018 I went on Travel for Teens’ “Europe for Older Teens: Florence, Cinque-Terre, Switzerland, and Paris” AND “Europe for Older Teens: Amsterdam, Munich, Swiss Alps, and Venice.” I can very honestly say that it was the best summer experience of my entire life thanks. I set out with the simple intention of being more well traveled and hopefully making a couple new friends, and that I certainly did. I couldn’t believe it! I actually made connections with people that I truly feel are going to last a lifetime. I’ve met up with friends I met over the summer since then and I carry the memories of those trips with me everyday. I would recommend those two trips especially because I felt as though I saw a good spread of Europe. Those are also some of the most historically fascinating destinations in the world, not to mention the food (nothing quite like Gelato in Florence). Switzerland is probably my new favorite place in the world and I absolutely can not wait to return to the karaoke nights and basking in the beautiful mountain range view from the balcony. If you have the opportunity to travel with TFT...take it! I will never forget my experience:)

I had so much fun!

This past summer, I went to Greece with Travel For Teens and I had a blast!! The campers were so nice, the staff were awesome, and we did and saw the most amazing things! We spent an entire day sailing on the water in a beautiful sail boat, stopping at different places and jumping off into the crystal clear water. We went to a couple museums, we walked up to the Parthenon. We also had a lot of free time to go shopping for souvenirs. We went to the beach like, all the time (I got super tan), we took a cooking class and had delicious and authentic Greek food. There was an optional excursion to go scuba diving, which was by far my favorite thing we did on the trip. I HIGHLY reccomend this trip to anyone, even if you’ve already been to Greece!
