Ive attended ORA for two consecutive years 2011 and 2012 and both have been a happy memory that I cherish forever! The friends I've made are still close to me 5 years later and I couldnt be more thankful to have friends from all around the world! Both stays in St.Catherines college and Balliol college were amazing and I wish I could return! Even the course was excellent and prepared me so well for university in the UK. Would definitely recommend!!

I had a lot of fun and made new friends from all around the world but unfortunately the law class i attended didn't provide enough information and help regarding the LNAT and Personal statements. Besides these two errors everything was wonderful. Yarnton Manor was a beautiful place and i miss it already. All the house deans and staff were incredibly friendly I would love to be a part of the ORA team someday.

What would you improve about this program?

They should focus a little bit more on the LNAT exercises and Personal Statement preparing as promised.

I found ORA absolutely amazing when I went - I made lots of friends quite quickly and we still talk even now! There was a lot of choice in terms of what people could do during free time, and all of the staff were really lovely. I found the lessons interesting, and everything we covered felt relevant and well explained. All in all, I would definitely recommend an ORA course to anyone considering going on one this summer.

What would you improve about this program?

It would have been a little better if the accommodation had been a bit cleaner when we first moved in.

ORA was amazing. Not only did the classes engage me but the people as well. I learned so much from so many people in different cultures. I had my friends with whom I spent 24/7 with. I cannot wait to attend again! I still think of the two weeks I spent at ORA and I can't help but feel nostalgic. I think of every little memory, even waking up early and staying up late trying to finish my work and I would not trade those memories for anything. I am so happy to keep in touch with my friends from ORA, we are all planning to meet up again.

Attending ORA last year was one of the best decisions of my life. It was life changing, I immensely enjoyed my time in the loveliest college in the world.
My two weeks were action packed with surprises and fun. It opened my horizons to the world, and I learned so much during my summer course. I made lots of friends from different parts of the world and am still in contact with them. I just couldn't thank my parents enough for sending me to ORA.

When I arrived at ORA, I thought it was going to be just like every other summer camp/program I've been to. I thought it was going to be boring, the people there would be rigid and mean and that I would make no friends. Well...I was wrong. My time at Oxford Royale Academy was as fun as it was beneficial. I made an amazing group of friends, with whom I still keep in touch with, and met so many different, interesting people from all over the world, whether they be students or counselors, they always had amazing stories to tell and insightful questions about my culture and where I come from. ORA helped me get over my social anxiety and my fear of public speaking because when I was there, the shy, quiet girl that I have been for my entire life, suddenly went flying out the window. Before I knew it, I was just walking up to people and starting conversations with them, and actually speaking in front of my entire class during a presentation, and it didn't even feel the slightest bit hard. That is why, my summer at oxford Royale Acadamy was one that I will never forget.

Ever since I've attended ORA over the summer and took the psychology course, I have been engaged with topics relating to psychology and noting things about psychology whenever I am able to. The courses which I took at ORA really helped me in finding new studies I am passionate about, as ORA offers different opportunities that you would usually receive at school. I also had lots of fun in my workshops, and I really did learn a lot from it. My public speaking and debate workshop greatly helped me with studies at school as well.

The environment isn't overly challenging, but there is enough material given for the student to really get a clear insight into the course they chose. Overall, the summer New Perspectives program surely lives up to its name!

Why did you choose this program?

I chose this program because it provided an amazing oportunity: I could live and study in a world renown university.

I chose the "Broadening Horizons" course for a two-week summer camp. This option gave me a lot of classes to choose from, which could give me different aspects and help me with future university choices. It was also a great choice in order to travel, visit a new city and meet amazing people from multiple nationalities.

What did your program provider (or university) assist you with, and what did you have to organize on your own?

The program providers helped a lot. They were always available to answer any question I had through the live chat option on the ORA website and to help me with all the changes I wanted to make. Moreover, they would constantly send me tasks to fill on the forum (medical form, dietary forms...).

They helped me through VISA assistance too by sending a letter. They also provided a coach transfer to take students from the airport to their respective campuses.

What is one piece of advice you'd give to someone going on your program?

Of course this program is a summer camp where you will participate in many activities, meet a lot of people, travel and visit a new city. However, you need to know that there is a lot of work. There are assignements to do, homework, essays, presentations...

And you will be graded at the end of the summer camp for all your work. So, if you are like me and you want to make sure you get good scores, you will have to study well.

There are no "tests", more like research work (at least for the subjects I had).

That being said, you shouldn't worry a lot about it: you will still have a lot of time to enjoy and have the summer of your life.

What does an average day/week look like as a participant of this program?

So, on an average day, you would have registration in the morning, followed by breakfast, two-morning courses (for Broadening Horizons) separated by a break. Then, you would have a lunch break where you can go to town to grab food.

Afterward, on some days there would be an afternoon workshop, and if not, you will have some planned activities (punting, city tour, treasure hunt, check the botanical garden...) followed by registration and dinner at the campus. And at night, there would be some activities, such as TED talks, talent shows (those were some of the activities prepared when I was at the camp, but they may vary by campus/year)...

Going into your experience abroad, what was your biggest fear, and how did you overcome it? How did your views on the issue change?

In general, I was very excited about this trip. But since it was my first time traveling alone, I couldn't neglect the fear of being far from home, from my comfort zone. I had to live for two weeks with complete strangers from different cultures.

At the end of the day, you attract people from your vibe. Once I arrived, making friends was really easy, seen that no one wants to be alone and everyone was seeking to build new friendships, and the friendly team made the whole trip smoother.

Patrick currently works as an Admissions Executive for Oxford Royale Academy. He is responsible for liaising with potential clients and setting up reservations onto the company's academic program. In the summer months, he works as an on-site Assistant Program Director, responsible for running the pastoral staff and cultural enrichment facets of the Balliol College campus.

What is your favorite travel memory?

My best travel memories are usually bound-up in choir tours, including trips to the East Coast of America, Beijing and Langzhou, and much of Europe. My favorite travel memory has to be travelling across Australia, aged 2, following my dad filming wildlife documentaries for Channel 4. Such amazing scenery and animals - it etched itself even into the memory of a 2 year-old.

How have you changed/grown since working for your current company?

I've developed a greater understanding of global cultures and traditions, I've improved my French, become better at ironing shirts (for meeting with high-profile parents!), and worked alongside some of the most fascinating young minds of today. My interpersonal skills have certainly developed, but as any of the students will tell you, my sense of humor definitely hasn't.

What is the best story you've heard from a return student?

One student told me they returned because of how we treated them when they missed home. Eventually, they said, they stopped feeling homesick because ORA became a new home. Someone pass me the tissues...! Sometimes its the little things we do to enhance a student experience that stick with them, and you never know how much one little gesture can mean to someone.

If you could go on any program that your company offers, which one would you choose and why?

Definitely the Mastering Automotive Engineering Course. Designing and building a Caterham car in Oxford for 6 weeks - so cool! A real project to work on amongst your peers - surely learning collaboratively is more fun than studying alone. And at the end of the course, not only would you have ACE grades, you'd also be able to say you'd built a car.

What makes your company unique? When were you especially proud of your team?

Oxford Royale Academy is a bastion of internationalism in an increasingly divided world. I am proud of the company's commitment to bringing young people together with the shared goal of intellectual progress, across cultural boundaries. I hope that the young people who enter our Alumni Community will always share the principle of international cooperation that they foster with us at ORA.

What do you believe to be the biggest factor in being a successful company?

Honestly, a true devotion to the product. If the courses we produce are world-class and we make ourselves the best summer school possible, the students will come. I include within that the whole product - the branding, the content, and the delivery. If the company serves the product, the product will serve the company 10-fold.
