Wroxton is the BEST

My semester at Wroxton College was my first semester of my senior year at FDU. it was the Fall of 1988 and I was an English Major about to graduate the following semester. I took one of the greatest courses I’ve ever taken in my entire life, which was called the plays the thing it enabled us to go to Stratford upon Avon watch Shakespearean plays each week. It was mesmerizing to not only being able to read and study the place, but then also see it come to life on the stage, I also had the opportunity to learn about British government, and art history of England. I found an English boyfriend there which turned I to a long distance relationship for at least one year. at Wroxton, I went to castles to celebrate and drank Mead. I recently went to a Renaissance Faire in Sarasota, FL which is near where I live now, and it so reminded me of living in England and my wonderful friends and people who worked there. It is a cherished memory and a school that I continue to support both emotionally and financially. ❤️ Thank you and LOVE to Wroxton and all who keep the program going.

Pros
  • wonderful staff and different culture
  • Excellent academics
  • Great atmosphere to learn and grow in
Cons

Would Go Back in a Heartbeat!

This program was my favorite part of my entire college experience! You can tell the professors and staff genuinely care about the students. The classes are interesting and the workload balanced perfectly with the trips and experiences. I was able to visit places I'd never even dreamed I could. The Abbey was such a beautiful place to stay. Made some lifelong friends here and wish I could go back everyday! Honestly recommend anyone who has the chance to go to take it. Don't miss out on this amazing program.

One of the best experiences of my life to date

500 characters is not enough to accurately portray how superb this program is. The teachers respect you, the education is wonderful, and they provide tons of travel opportunities and activities throughout your time there. You basically live in a castle and chefs cook for you every night. I still get a personal Christmas card every year from them (I went in 2012) which goes to show how much they care. The only problem is that you’ll be chasing the high of this experience for the rest of your life.

Pros
  • Was able to travel to multiple countries
  • Fantastic professors and education
  • Authentic English experience
Cons
  • Going home

An experiential immersion

A great place to be and a fundamental experience to learning about England, it’s educational system, all while being a part of England and it’s culture. From start to finish, Fairleigh Dickinson, and it’s respective travel abroad program, global scholars program, and honors program are all facilitators of helping and supporting students from the day they enroll to return. You won’t miss an opportunity to visit famous landmarks, and you get the true, unmasked experience to see what life abroad is like.

A Lifetime of Memories and Connections

I'm still connected to so many of the people I went to Wroxton with because of its immersive group experiences. I wear my 20 year old sweatshirt with pride and tell my young students about my experiences in hopes they are encouraged to attend. My grants and loans applied making the transition seemless. All you need to consider financially is spending money and airfare.
The academic rigor, opportunities to connect with other visitors, excursions, and wholesome fun make this adventure one you'll never forget.

Pros
  • Excursions
  • Regal Housing

My Wroxton Experience

My Wroxton Experience was filled with non-stop action, entertainment, and adventure. Every weekend we would go on multiple trips throughout England, including several getaway weekends to London, Edinburgh in Scotland, and Paris in France. Classes were organized well, simple, and straight forward. Classes ran Mondays through Thursdays while the trips ran through Friday-Sunday. There was much free time to enjoy the social life in England by first going into Banbury, the town nearest to the college. 10 minute taxi drive as well the college provides afternoon and evening transportation a couple times a week for students. Banbury has many restaurants and great nightlife. Students can easily order take out and have it delivered to the college. Our housing saw people live in single or double rooms that each had their own bathroom in. In the middle of the semester, students were given a one week travel break of their choice, so I went to Italy for the week! In the college as well, several libraries that provided much study area. Several activity rooms for students to socialize are in the basement as well as the laundry and gym facilities. Overall, the staff made us feel at home with their much support and experience they brought to the table. In the end, you are destined to walk away with more friends, memories, and the fact that you just had adventure of a lifetime!

Pros
  • The college is in a very nice, calm area. Very secluded and private.
  • All the staff members were very friendly and welcoming.
  • There is always something to do!
Cons
  • The food quality served was about average, it got me through the day.
  • Not a lot of grades, more pressure to perform well on each essay and final exam.

Greatest Experience Ever

My life was forever changed for the better because I went to Wroxton College. I could write a book about it. I highly recommend this program to everyone! It was the best experience of my life and I’ve gone back several times since to visit. I met my wife while attending the program. We now have 2 beautiful children. I maintain friendships with several other classmates from over 2 years ago. I loved being able to learn in a unique environment from English professors and I loved being able to travel around Europe as well.

Incredible experience in rural Oxfordshire in Jacobean manor house

I have led 6 student and 3 non-student programs to Wroxton since 2011 and all participants loved every minute of it. It's an perfect hub to visit sites throughout south central England, including London. The 17th-century historic manor house surriunded by gardens is right out of Downton Abbey with beautifully refurbished rooms with private bathrooms and incredible meals provided by the campus chef. It's an incredible experience for students full semester or over winter and summer sessions. It is also ideal for non-student groups to include retirees.

Pros
  • gorgeous campus
  • great food
  • within thatched roof village
