A Lifetime of Memories and Connections

I'm still connected to so many of the people I went to Wroxton with because of its immersive group experiences. I wear my 20 year old sweatshirt with pride and tell my young students about my experiences in hopes they are encouraged to attend. My grants and loans applied making the transition seemless. All you need to consider financially is spending money and airfare.
The academic rigor, opportunities to connect with other visitors, excursions, and wholesome fun make this adventure one you'll never forget.

Pros
  • Excursions
  • Regal Housing
  • All inclusive

My Wroxton Experience

My Wroxton Experience was filled with non-stop action, entertainment, and adventure. Every weekend we would go on multiple trips throughout England, including several getaway weekends to London, Edinburgh in Scotland, and Paris in France. Classes were organized well, simple, and straight forward. Classes ran Mondays through Thursdays while the trips ran through Friday-Sunday. There was much free time to enjoy the social life in England by first going into Banbury, the town nearest to the college. 10 minute taxi drive as well the college provides afternoon and evening transportation a couple times a week for students. Banbury has many restaurants and great nightlife. Students can easily order take out and have it delivered to the college. Our housing saw people live in single or double rooms that each had their own bathroom in. In the middle of the semester, students were given a one week travel break of their choice, so I went to Italy for the week! In the college as well, several libraries that provided much study area. Several activity rooms for students to socialize are in the basement as well as the laundry and gym facilities. Overall, the staff made us feel at home with their much support and experience they brought to the table. In the end, you are destined to walk away with more friends, memories, and the fact that you just had adventure of a lifetime!

Pros
  • The college is in a very nice, calm area. Very secluded and private.
  • All the staff members were very friendly and welcoming.
  • There is always something to do!
Cons
  • The food quality served was about average, it got me through the day.
  • Not a lot of grades, more pressure to perform well on each essay and final exam.

Greatest Experience Ever

My life was forever changed for the better because I went to Wroxton College. I could write a book about it. I highly recommend this program to everyone! It was the best experience of my life and I’ve gone back several times since to visit. I met my wife while attending the program. We now have 2 beautiful children. I maintain friendships with several other classmates from over 2 years ago. I loved being able to learn in a unique environment from English professors and I loved being able to travel around Europe as well.

Incredible experience in rural Oxfordshire in Jacobean manor house

I have led 6 student and 3 non-student programs to Wroxton since 2011 and all participants loved every minute of it. It's an perfect hub to visit sites throughout south central England, including London. The 17th-century historic manor house surriunded by gardens is right out of Downton Abbey with beautifully refurbished rooms with private bathrooms and incredible meals provided by the campus chef. It's an incredible experience for students full semester or over winter and summer sessions. It is also ideal for non-student groups to include retirees.

Pros
  • gorgeous campus
  • great food
  • within thatched roof village

Life Changing

If I could re-live my semester at Wroxton I would. The Abbey is an incredible building with a lot of history and a lot of different corners to tuck yourself away in. The grounds are quiet, with families who like to visit for walks when the weather is nice, and they’re all very friendly. I went into the experience thinking I would be alone most of the time, but I ended up with a lot of friends. These are the people you eat and travel with, and also the ones you stay up late with when there’s a paper due. Keep on top of your assignments! The library has all that you need to complete your work for tutorials and papers. The all-nighters are fun to look back on, but not so fun in the moment, haha. That way, you have the opportunity to go on every trip offered if you choose. These trips are included in your tuition so make the most of them. I went to so many different places! London, Scotland, Wales, historical sites, castles, farms, you name it. Stratford is so beautiful, and it was my favorite; only a short drive from the Abbey. The gardens, the Shakespeare sites, the live music, the shops—all very lovely. Life at the Abbey is incredible, and it’s made that way by every single staff member there. All of the professors will support you in any way you need, and the tutorials help you understand what you’re learning in class in a more nuanced way. Please don’t miss out on going there, it really did change my life in the best way possible. I know I’m going back!

Pros
  • Easy travel access
  • Academic challenge
  • A real home environment
Cons
  • Not being able to stay forever!

Best decision I have ever made to study at Wroxton

I went to Wroxton without really knowing my classmates and left Wroxton with 21 new extended members of my family. The staff at Wroxton makes you feel welcomed and safe right away and provide support for your whole semester there. The trips and events are some of the best memories I have made thus far in my entire life, and I wouldn't trade my Wroxton experience for the world. I definitely plan on going back to pay this charming college a visit again! If you have the opportunity to go- DO IT!!!!

Pros
  • Safe area
  • Friendly staff
  • Room and board and dining included

Forever Grateful

Wroxton was a truly life changing experience for me as it was for many. The staff was incredibly supportive, friendly, and welcoming. They made me feel like I was home. It was the most challenging time of my academic career, but I wouldn’t change it for the world. I grew so much as a person. The Abbey is stunning, and the grounds are breathtaking. I’ve never had more fun than I did while at Wroxton. The meals, classes, shows, and trips were the best time of my life! I will be forever grateful for my time at Wroxton.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
My advice to future travelers is to really explore and drink it all in. Every experience is a great one. Really live in the moment and embrace gratitude for being there. No moment is too small when you’re living somewhere so magical.

Life Changing Experience

First, the Abbey itself is amazing. The history there, staying there, and studying there is magical. The grounds are beautiful and the village of Wroxton is something like out of a novel. Second, you get to interact with students from various universities, studying together both in classroom but also in the British smaller tutorial style, which was fantastic. Seeing Shakespeare plays live in Stratford was amazing. Third, the opportunities for travel are amazing and not to be missed. From trips arranged by the Abbey to your own travel break. You will make lifelong memories and relationships. If this is your first time outside the continent, being in an English-speaking country really helps.

What is your advice to future travelers on this program?
Life is about relationships & experiences: take the time to learn about your classmates, the staff and professors, as well as taking advantage of the travel opportunities. Embrace creativity. Try new things. Stay after your semester to explore London or other cities with new Wroxton friends. AND connect with them when you return (though that is likely to happen spontaneously anyway!) as they will understand the shared experience once you are back home.
